  • Since the 90's, the world's aerospace industry have been experienced the era of radical changes. We make a comparative study about the 10 countries government policies and corporate strategies changes in this era. In this study, we figure out aerospace industry's evolutional patterns and factors through evolutionary perspective, and then, proposed development strategies and implications for Korea's aerospace industry.

A Study on Competitiveness in the Aircraft Industry

  • Purpose - This study shows that which country has more competitiveness in aerospace industry. The reason why author choose aerospace industry for research is aerospace industry is one of major business in every country in the world instead of infant industry. Research design and methodology - In order to research this topic, there are 3 tools to analyze competitiveness in aerospace industry. To achieve analysis of competitiveness between USA and England, UN comtrade program which provides huge database including time serial data. Results - All of TSI are over zero (0) which means that from 2000 to 2018, USA aerospace industry is export specialization as USA aerospace industry has comparative advantage against England aerospace industry. All of TSI in USA are approaching to figure +1 as export specialization except 2010. Conclusions - Even though RCA value in 2000 is 6.313, however, when time goes by and they are 8.997 in 2005, 8.007 in 2010 and 8.389 in 2015 respectively and RCA value is slightly going down as figure 7 in 2018. we review above market share analysis data, USA has overpoweringly superior competitive power against British aerospace industry.

  • Airlines service is very important so as to overcome the rapid environmental changes of the air transportation market at home and abroad. Author investigates the impact of Determinants on the performance of airlines in all the world. Three variables of performance measurement were used : revenue, net profit, and passengers. Data analyses were based on service ranking, financial and passenger information of the world's top 50 Airlines collected from Business Traveller, World Air Transport Statistics and Airline Business. The findings of this study could be summarized as follows : Service ranking was not related to the airlines performances such as revenue, net profit, passengers and so fourth. But airlines size(employees, fleet size) was related to the airlines performances such as passengers and revenue passenger.

The Development Progress of Korean Aviation Industry and its Investment Strategy Based on the Evidence and the 4th Industrial Revolution

  • This study examines the history of Korean aviation industry and presents the investment strategy based on the evidence and the 4th industrial revolution. Looking at the evolution of the Korean aviation industry and its technological development will be a great help to support industrial and technological innovation in the future. The modern aviation industry is divided into stages of development, focusing on maintenance of equipment introduced in advanced countries, localization through license assembly, production of products based on technology, and international joint development. The development of aeronautics technology has been progressing towards a general improvement of economic efficiency, aircraft safety efficiency through environmental-friendliness, unmanned operation, and downsizing. The Korea Aerospace Research Institute has secured key technologies through development of several aircrafts such as Experimental Aircraft Kachi, EXPO Unmanned Airship, Twin-engine Composite Aircraft, Canard Aircraft, Multi-Purpose Stratosphere unmanned-airship, Medium Aerostats, Smart UAV, Surion, EAV-2H, KC-100, and OPV. The development strategy is discussed at the level of the evidence-based investment strategy that is currently being discussed, and so the investment priorities in aircraft is high. Current drone usage and development direction are not only producing parts using 3D printer, but also autonomous flight, communication (IoT, 5G), information processing (big data, machine learning). Therefore, the aviation industry is expected to lead the fourth industrial revolution.

  • Since 2017, South Korea's defense exports have shown the world's highest rate of increase of 177% over the past five years, making it the 8th largest defense exporting country in the world. In particular, the aerospace industry is playing a leading role in the Korean defense industry. Among these K-defense industries, the capabilities of the aerospace industry are closely related to the Sacheon Air Show. Sacheon Air Show is one of the largest aviation events in Korea, and products with expertise in the aerospace field are exhibited and demonstrated. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to seek the revitalization of domestic local airports, especially Sacheon Airport, through the Sacheon Air Show held at Sacheon Airport in Gyeongsangnam-do. The first is the development of various contents, the second is the maximization of expertise using air shows, and the third is internationalization. By actively promoting these measures, Sacheon Air Show will be able to maximize the expertise of K-Defense, recognize it as an international event, and promote the vitalization of Sacheon Airport in Gyeongsangnam-do by securing domestic and foreign participants and visitors.

  • 세계 항공산업은 디지털 기술의 발전과 더불어 지속적으로 성장하고 있다. 김포지역의 항공전자 시스템을 기반으로 하는 디지털 항공산업 발전방안을 수요적 측면, 제도적 측면, 산업구조적 측면에서 연구 하였다. 항공산업의 성장동력화를 위한 추진전략을 제시하고 전략 달성을 위하여 항공수요의 지속적 창출, 핵심 부품소재 육성 및 경쟁우위 디지털 기술력 확보, 제도 운용의 활성화를 위한 인프라 구축, 행정지원제도의 개선, 민 산 군 학 관의 정책조정기능 강화를 추진과제로 제안하였다. 연구를 수행한 결과 행정적, 산업적인 분야에서 관련 제도 등을 보완하면 항공정비산업과 헬기산업을 중심으로 김포지역의 디지털항공산업 발전이 가능하다는 결론을 도출 하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 우리산업이 민수시장진입을 위해서 필수적으로 분석해야 할 세계 민수시장의 범위 및 특성, 과거 실적치 등을 바탕으로 세계시장 및 국내시장 분석, 우리나라가 시장진입을 위해서 고려해야 할 사항 및 시장 전망에 대해서 다루었다. 분석을 통해 민수시장에서 대형단발급의 퇴조에 따라 쌍발시장이 커지며, 운용자 인터뷰를 통해 현재 운용 중인 헬기보다 상위급의 헬기 운용을 선호하게 되며, 전체 시장 규모 등 주도가치 측면 및 구현용이성으로 판단시 우리나라는 대형쌍발급 및 중소형쌍발급에서 전략적 포지셔닝을 갖는 것이 좋으며, 수리온 민수전환형은 상당량의 시장진입이 전망되나, 단가, 사양, 판매전략 등 측면에서 적극적인 시장진입 노력이 필요하다.

세계 항공기산업 동향과 전망 (The Trend and forecast of world Aircraft industry)

  • 세계 항공기 산업은 2001년 이후 전반적인 세계경기 회복기조 속에서 꾸준히 성장하고 있다. 9.11사태 이후 시 장 위축과 회복 그리고 유가급등과 환경에 대한 요구 증가 등 근래에 들어 과거와 다른 항공기 산업의 시장환경이 조성되었으며, 이에 따라 항공기 산업 내부에서도 완만한 변화가 이루어져 왔다. 지역 간 직접노선 수요와 비정기 항공에 대한 수요 증가는 200인승 급 대형항공기의 수요증가, 주력 중형항공기의 대형화 및 비즈니스제트기와 VLJ 수요를 촉발하였으며, 항공사간의 경쟁 심화와 유가상승 등은 더욱 효율적인 기체에 대한 요구를 증대시켰다. 군수분야에서는5세대 전투기의 개발 및 채용 확산과 함께 그 이전단계에서 기존의4세대 전투기의 수요 역시 꾸준히 이어지고 있으며, 비정규전 과정을 거치면서 무인 정찰기에 대한 수요 및 접근성이 높은 이동수단에 대한 수요가 증대하였다.

  • 본 논문은 일본 항공기산업의 간략한 역사와 구조, 그리고 최근의 변화에 대해 조사한 결과이다. 비록 일본이 항공기산업과 기계공업에서 높은 기술력을 지닌 것으로 알려져 있으나, 1990년대 이후 일본 항공기 산업은 많은 난관과 문제에 봉착하였다. 2000년대에 접어들면서 일본은 이러한 문제들을 해결하기 위해 산업과 정책 결정기관, 그리고 연구기관의 구조 조정을 실시하였고, 동시에 MRJ 사업을 비롯한 몇몇 새로운 프로젝트를 개시하였다. 이러한 노력의 결과와 영향은 앞으로의 세계 항공시장의 동향을 분석하고 예상하는데 중요할 것이라 생각되며, 이를 본고를 통해 살펴보도록 한다.

헬기 MRO 비즈니스의 잠재력 (Potential of Helicopter MRO Business)

  • Since the global economic crisis in year 2008, the world civil helicopter market has been growing recently. According to the market outlook in the next decade, the demand of civil helicopter will be driven by the demand of Private & Corporate, Oil & Gas, Off-shore and EMS(Emergency Medical Service) usages. On the other side, the demand of military market will be driven by the modification and upgrading for life extension or performance enhancement than the new helicopter development for replacing old models. To summarize these situations, the demand of MRO(Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul) market has also been on the rise because of the demand due to above several usages in civil side and the life-extension in military side. Through the MRO market analysis for characteristics, developmental trends and a supply chain, this paper describes that the potential of MRO business is considerably large as a propulsive power of domestic helicopter industry. And also, it proposes the construction direction of MRO network because the domestic industry must make the developmental awareness and reliability a stepping-stone towards own helicopter.
