  • Communicating devices for the seriously disabled using eye-ball movement or some body movement are proposed. The first one is a device to use image processing, whose input signal is eyeball movement, A feature of this device is that the device can be readily realized using a note-book computer with USB (Universal Serial Bus) interface bus. This device is incorporated with a word processing software called Nearly Ladder. The second one is an emergency call switch which is used by a patient who can move his finger slightly.   • In this paper we propose an EWLD(Enhanced Weighted Levenshtein Distance) algorithm to organize code-string pattern matching linear array processor based on the mappting to an one-dimensional array from a two-dimensional matching matrix, and design a processing element(PE) of the processor, N PEs are required instead of NS02T in the processor because of the mapping. Data input and output between PEs and all internal operations of each PE are performed in bit-serial fashion. The bit-serial operation consists of the computing of word distance (WD) by comparison and the selection of optimal code transformation path, and takes 22 clocks as a cycle. The layout of a PE is designed based on the double metal $1.5\mu$m CMOS rule. About 1,800 transistors consistute a processing element and 2 PEs are integrated on a 3mm$\times$3mm sized chip.

  • In this paper a modified Feistel network 128 bit block cipher algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm has a 128, 196 or 256 bit key and it updates a selected 32 bit word from input value whole by deformed Feistel Network structure. Existing of such structural special quality is getting into block cipher algorithms and big distinction. The proposed block cipher algorithm shows much improved software speed compared with international standard block cipher algorithm AES and domestic standard block cipher algorithm SEED and ARIA. It may be utilized much in same field coming smart card that must perform in limited environment if use these special quality.

  • This paper is a study on the consonant recognition using neural network. First, the part of consonant was separated from the sound of vowel and consonant by the use of acoustic parameter. The rate of length vs. zero crossing rate in the sound of consonant had been studied by dividing each consonant into several groups. Finally, for the purpose of consonant recognition, the composite neural network which consists of a control network and several sub-network is proposed. The control network identifies the group to which the input consonant belongs and the sub-network recognizes the consonant in each group.

  • Electrical motors are an integral part of industrial plants with no less than 5 billion motors built word wide every year and the BLDC motor have been increased demand on industrial application. This paper presents BLDC motor control algorithm for cost effective motor application using general purpose microprocessor which have only one on-chip timer and describes how to realize pulse width modulation(PWM) signals with general input/output(I/O) ports to control a three-phase permanent magnet brushless do motor using timer interrupt on MSP430F1232.

  • 인터넷의 급속한 보급은 인간 생활의 많은 부분을 바꾸어 놓고있는데, 가장 대표적인 예로 전자상거래와 온라인 문서를 들 수 있다. 전자상거래와 온라인 문서는 과거 자국의 문자위주 PC통신상에서만 이루어지고 있었지만 현재는 대부분이 인터넷과 연동되어있다. 따라서 전자상거래와 온라인 문서 등을 전세계 사람들이 이용하기 위해서 만국 공통의 코드가 필요하게 되었다. 이러한 요구로 ISO10646 코드가 제정되고 발전하여 현재의 유니코드 3.0에 이르게 되었다. 유니코드 3.0에는 세계각국의 문자가 포함되어있고, 한국, 중국, 일본 등 한자문화권에서 공통적으로 많이 사용하는 한자 2만 7천여자도 포함되어있다. 이것은 과거 국내 표준인 완성형 한자 4천 8백여자와 비교하면 무척 많은 양이라 할 수 있다. 이러한 유니코드의 출현으로 국내외의 고문헌과 법전 등의 한자가 포함된 각종 문서를 인터넷상에서 제공할 수 있지만, 현재 유니코드 한자를 입력하기위한 방법은 MS Word2000의 한자 입력기만 있고 다른 운영체제나 인터넷 환경에서는 거의 전무한 상태이다. 본 논문에서는 운영체제에 독립적으로 작동하는 유니코드 한자입력시스템에 관하여 연구 개발하였다.

  • This paper describes the implementation of recognition of speaker - dependent Korean spoken continuous digits. The recognition system can be divided into two parts, acoustic - phonetic processor and lexical decoder. Acoustic - phonetic processor calculates the feature vectors from input speech signal and the performs frame labelling and phone labelling. Frame labelling is performed by Bayesian classification method and phone labelling is performed using labelled frame and posteriori probability. The lexical decoder accepts segments (phones) from acoustic - phonetic processor and decodes its lexical structure through phone network which is constructed from phonetic representation of ten digits. The experiment carried out with two sets of 4continuous digits, each set is composed of 35 patterns. An evaluation of the system yielded a pattern accuracy of about 80 percent resulting from a word accuracy of about 95 percent.

  • In this paper, variable threshold detection with weighted pulse code modulation-encoded signals transmitted over Gaussian channels has been investigated. Each bit in the \ulcornerlaw PCM word is weighted according to its significance in the transmitter. It the output falls into the erasure zone, the regenerated sample replaced by interpolation or prediction. To overall system signal to noise ratio for BPSK/PCM speech signals of this technique has been found. When the input signal level was -17 db, the gains in overall signal s/n compared to weighted PCM and variable threshold detection were 5 db and 3 db, respectively. Computer simulation was performed generating signals by computer. The simulation was in resonable agreement with our theoretical prediction.

  • 본 논문은 어린이나 노약자 등 컴퓨터의 타자 실력을 증가시키기 위해, 타자게임을 설계 구현하였다. 랜덤하게 나타나는 한글이나 영문의 단어를 정해진 시간안에 올바르게 치면 점수가 증가되고, 틀리게 치게 되면 점수가 감점되며, 올바르게 입력을 하면 앞서가는 벌레나 곤충을 잡을 수 있도록 따라가는 방식이다. 두되 발전도 되며, 아울러서 키보드의 단어 입력 타자 실력을 증기 시키도록 설계 및 구현하였다. 원하는 단어와 틀린 입력을 하게 되면 앞서가는 벌레와 거리가 더 멀어지게 되며, 정해진 시간 안에 많은 단어의 입력을 하여 올바른 입력을 하면 앞서가는 벌레와 충돌되어 벌레를 없앨수 있는 기능이 되어 있다. 흥미도 유발하고, 또한 타자 실력과 키보드의 글자의 위치를 암기할 수 있는 장점이 있다.

Distinction of Korean and English Characters Using Aspect Ratio and Structural Characteristics (종횡비와 구조적 특징을 이용한 한글과 영어의 구별)

  • This paper proposes an algorithm for distinguishing Korean and English characters which can be applied to multi-font by using of the ratio height to width of each character and the structural characteristics. The proposed algorithm distinguishes Korean and English characters as the aspect ratio, existing or not of stroke image on the left-upper area, and detection of a bar in an input image. The process of detecting bar is a sequence of left, upper, right, and lower. Experimental results yield 100.00% distinction rate for the Myungjo font, 99.96% for the Sinmyungjo font and the Kungseo font, and 99.77% for the Gothic font of Hanguel word processor.
