Existing wood decks brings out negligent accident because fastener can be pulled-out by cyclic load of pedestrians. When deck and joist are connected, it also causes the problems, which are cracking of wood decks and rapid decay by material of fastener. In this study, strength property of deck unit using reinforced plastic connector made by domestic A company was evaluated. Southern yellow pine (Pinus palustris Miller) were used for deck material. Bending strength of deck units were implemented for fastener type and joist spacing (400, 600 mm). In the result, carbon steel screw into reinforced plastic connector was the best in average bending strength(Joist spacing : 400, 600 mm). In the result of bending strength for joist-width (40, 50, 70, 80 mm), the average maximum bending strength was measured when the joist spacing was 40 mm.
In the glulam beam deflection it is necessary to check the reliability of theory formula, because of wood anisotropy and wood qualities (knot, slop of grain). In this experiment, when bending stress occurred on glulam, practice deflection of glulam measuring with AICON DPA-Pro 3D system were compared with prediction deflection calculated as substituting MOE through non-destructive testing and static MOE through bending test in differential equation of deflection curve. MOE using ultrasonic wave tester of laminae, MOE using natural frequencies of longitudinal vibrations ($E_{cu}$, $E_{cf}$), MOE using ultrasonic wave tester of glulam ($E_{gu}$) and MOE using natural frequencies of longitudinal vibrations ($E_{gf}$) were substituted in this experiment. When practice deflection measured by 3D system was compared with prediction deflection calculated with differential equation of deflection curve, within proportional limit the ratio of practice deflection and prediction deflection was similar as 1.12 and 1.14, respectively. Deflection using ultrasonic wave tester was 0.89 and 0.95, Deflection using natural frequencies of longitudinal vibrations was 1.07 and 1.10. The results showed that prediction deflection calculated by substituting using non-destructive MOE of glulam having anisotropy in differential equation of deflection curve was agreed well with practice deflection.

The hammer-milled characteristics of waste wood materials such as lumber, plywood, particleboard(PB), MDF and railroad tic were investigated in this study. The physical and mechanical properties of recycled boards according to types of recycled particle and the mixing ratios were also studied. The hammer-milled, waste wood materials had the dimensional distributions suitable for the core layer panicle. Bending strengths of recycled boards (one layer) were shown in order of plywood, PB(laboratory-fabricated with particles used in the PB factory), lumber, tego film-overlaid plywood, MDF, waste railroad tie, PB(factory-made) and LPL-overlaid PB. Cured resin and creosote containing waste wood contributed to dimensional stability of reconstituted boards. Considering the mixing effects between lumber and plywood with recycled PB particle, lumber particle was contributive to bending strength, MOE and internal bond(IB) strength, whereas plywood particle was contributive to dimensional stability. The bending and IB strength of 3 layer boards composing only recycled waste wood particles in core layer of board were in order of lumber, plywood, PB and MDF. On the other hand, the thickness swelling was in order of PB, lumber, plywood and MDF. Bending strength of the 3 layer boards mixed with recycled PB-particle in the core layer had a decreasing tendency, as the mixing ratios of recycled PB-particles increased. The dimensional stability of 3 layer recycled board was improved as the mixing ratio of recycled PB-particle increased same as in one layer. Formaldehyde emission of boards fabricated with recycled PB-particles in the core layer of the PB was in the range of E2 grade (below 5.0mg/l).
In this study, bending test was conducted as beam members in timber roadside safety barrier. The flexural properties of pitch pine round timber according to the diameters were evaluated. And then grading based on the growth characteristics applied to choosing the pitch pine round timbers which is met the criteria of guideline (Japan, 2008). MOR of round timber 160 mm is higher than other specimens from 100 mm to 140 mm. Because of lower juvenile wood ratio and higher density. The MOE of round timber is decreased according to the increment of diameter. Only 32% of the specimens has passed the limitations. Performance of pitch pine round timbers has confirmed to suitability roadside safety beam members according to the guideline (Japan, 2008).
Nondestructive evaluation (NDE) method by using a resonance frequency mode was carried out for ceramics made from particle boards with different phenol resin impregnation ratios (30, 40, 50, 60%) at carbonizing temperature of $800^{\circ}C$. The material for ceramics was Miscanthus sinensis var. purpurascens board. Dynamic modulus of elasticity increased with increasing impregnation ratio. There was a close relationship of dynamic modulus of elasticity and static bending modulus of elasticity to modulus of rupture (MOR). However, the result indicated that correlation coefficient is higher in dynamic modulus of elasticity to MOR than that in static modulus of elasticity to MOR. Therefore, the dynamic modulus of elasticity using resonance frequency by free vibration mode is more useful as a nondestructive evaluation method for predicting the MOR of ceramics made from Miscanthus sinensis var. purpurascens particle boards by different phenol resin impregnation ratios.
This study deals with physical properties of Larch(Larix kaemferi Carr.) treated by steaming at temperatures above 100℃. Treatment conditions of this experiment were operated at regular intervals of 10℃ at temperature up to 130℃ for 10, 30 and 60 minutes by using the auto-clave. The Bending strength and compressive strength along the grain were slightly decreased with increasing the treating temperatures. There was no significant relations between wood strength and steaming temperatures. At the range from 120℃ to 130℃ of steaming temperature, it was considered that the change of composition and structure in cell wall was changed due to release of stresses. Water absorption characteristics were not affected by steaming temperature. In this experiment limits, it was concluded that physical properties of wood by steaming treatment were affected more largely by wood density than by treating temperature.

In this study, eco-friendly hybrid composite boards were manufactured from green tea and wood fibers for application as interior materials with various functionalities of green tea and strong strength properties of wood fibers. In this relation, the effect of green tea content on dynamic MOEs (modulus of elasticity) of these green tea and wood fibers composite boards were investigated. The dynamic MOEs of hybrid composite boards were lower than those of control boards without green tea, and the values decreased with the increase of green tea content. Also, the dynamic MOEs appeared to be somewhat different by resin type used for board manufacture. The hybrid composite boards manufactured from $E_1$ grade urea resin, which has higher molar ratio of formaldehyde to urea than that of $E_0$ grade one, were 1.06~1.54 times higher than that manufactured from $E_0$ grade. And, the differences between hybrid composite boards manufactured from both adhesive increased with the increase of green tea content. On the other hand, high correlations were found between dynamic MOE and static bending strength performances, it was concluded that static bending strength performances could be estimated from the dynamic MOE, except for a few hybrid board types with large variations.
This study was carried out to develop the Korean paper(Hanji) sludge-wood fiber composite boards utilizing the relinquished sludges occurring from the making process of Korean classic paper Hanji. The bark of paper mulberry(Broussonetia kazinoki Sieb.) has been used as a raw material since past hundreds and thousands years. Korean paper(Hanji) sludge was divided into two kinds, the one was the white sludge from the first stage and the other was the black sludge occurring from the final stage of Korean paper(Hanji) making. Four levels of the mixed ratio of each white or black sludge to wood fiber(10:90, 20:80, 30:70 and 40:60), three levels of the resin adhesives(PMDI, urea and phenol resin) and three levels of the density(0.60, 0.75 and 0.90) were designed to investigate the mechanical properties of Korean paper(Hanji) sludge-wood fiber composite boards. From the results and discussion, it could be concluded as follows : 1. In the white and black sludge-wood fiber composite boards, bending modulus of rupture showed the clear decreasing tendency according to the increase of sludge additive, but it was clearly increased with the increase of specific gravity. Modulus of elasticity showed the same tendency as in the modulus of rupture, and also tensile and internal bonding strength had the same tendencies as in these bending properties. 2. Among the resin adhesives, PMDI or urea resin showed great values in MOR of white sludge-wood fiber composite board, but urea resin was greater than PMDI in MOR and MOE of black sludge-wood fiber composite board. Tensile and internal bonding strength showed the same tendencies as in white sludge-wood fiber composite board. 3. It is suggested that the white sludge-wood fiber composite boards bonded with PMDI or black sludge-wood fiber composite boards bonded with urea resin were able to made similar boards to general fiberboard by the mixed ratio 20:80 of sludge to wood fiber.
In recent years, many interests and researches on the insulations required the multiple performances other than insulation performance. The purpose of this paper is to find the optimal ratio between wood fiber and rice-husks charcoal to develop a structural board with carbonized rice-husks. Based on these rice-husks charcoals, basic research was carried out to develop thermal insulation materials with structural performance, and the following conclusions were obtained. The MC of the board using the carbonized rice-husks was 3.2-4.1% and the density was 0.58-0.68, indicating the possibility of excellent structural material. The bending strength was 9.1-32.6 MPa in the length direction and 9.2-34.1 MPa in the width direction. It is possible to obtain the bending strength of the normally used MDF level and to find the possibility of development of the thermal insulation material having the structural performances.
The effective utilization of wood structure is encouraged to preserve natural resources and the global environment. Long-span and large-scale structures are preferred to promote demand for wood. This study attempts to develop new Fire-resistance Composite Material composed of Structural steel and Structural glued laminated timber for long-span and large-scale structures. Prior to take a fire-resistance test, compare properties of bending strength with Composite material composed of Structural steel and Structural glued laminated timber, structural steel and structural provides the stability of the structure, but the structural glued laminated timber has high value elasticity of bending. Using the Composite material will improve structural stability and Eco-friend construction environment.
