The purpose of this study was to survey the clothing behavior, care and the fiber preferences of multi-cultural families living in Korea. The data was collected using questionnaire surveys based on pre-tests, and a main survey conducted in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province and Chungcheong Province. The 258 participants came from 151 multi-cultural families and 107 Korean families. The results of this study were as follows: First, Filipinos owned more clothes than the Chinese and bought clothes more frequently. The Filipinos spent 10,000~30,000 Korean won on all types of clothing. Each time, the Chinese spent more money when purchasing jackets. Second, when health was the greatest concern for underclothes, they chose cotton fiber as their preferred fiber. When beauty was of greatest concern for blouses they chose cotton. When beauty was of greatest concern for skirts and jackets they chose natural fibers such as silk, wool or linen. Filipinos preferred synthetic fibers because they are easy to care for, and the Chinese preferred natural fibers due to their beauty, especially for pants. Third, multi-cultural families laundered at home using only a washing machine. All fibers were laundered together into the washer without any sorting. This study can contribute to providing basic data for an understanding of the clothing behavior and laundry styles of multi-cultural families which may be useful data in the apparel market in Korea given the relative and direct changes relevant to various clothing cultures.

The purpose of this study is to longitudinally analyze the relationship between parenting effectiveness of parents of multicultural families and self-esteem and achievement motivation of multicultural adolescents. The study used the data of Multi-cultural Adolescent Panel Survey (MAPS). Of the six years of data from the 1st survey (elementary grade 4 students) in 2011 to the 6th survey ($3^{rd}$ year middle school students) in 2016, this study employed and analyzed the data from year 2012 ($2^{nd}$ survey, fifth graders), year 2014 ($4^{th}$ survey, 1st year middle school students), and year 2016 ($6^{th}$ survey, $3^{rd}$ year middle school students). The results of applying the Autoregressive Cross-lagged Model to examine the longitudinal relationship between parenting effectiveness of multicultural families and self-esteem and achievement motivation of multicultural adolescents are as follows. First, parenting effectiveness of parents of multicultural families, and self-esteem of multicultural adolescents, and autoregressive effects of achievement motivation were found to have a positive (+) effect with the passage of time. Second, the parenting effectiveness of parents of multicultural families at the previous time was found to have a significant positive (+) effect on the cross-lagged effect on self-esteem and achievement motivation of multicultural adolescents at a later time. Third, the self-esteem of multicultural adolescents at the previous time at the previous time was found to have a significant effect in the positive (+) direction on the cross-lagged effect affecting achievement motivation of multicultural adolescents at a later time. Fourth, it was found that the cross-lagged effect of the parenting effectiveness of parents of multicultural families on achievement motivation of multicultural adolescents was greater than the cross-lagged effect of self-esteem on achievement motivation of multicultural adolescents. This study is meaningful in that the longitudinal data are used to verify the causal orientation between three variables over time to examine the relationship between parenting effectiveness of parents of multicultural families and self-esteem and achievement motivation of multicultural adolescents.

The purpose of this study is to analyze and verify the effects of multicultural children's psychosocial adaptation, bicultural experience, parental support and parenting attitudes, and school activities on the development of Korean language ability using data from the second stage of the MAPS(Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study) using a structural equation model. The subjects of this study were 396 children from foreign families and mid-immigrant families, multicultural children who were enrolled in the fourth grade of elementary school in 2019. As a result of the study, it was found that psychosocial adaptation, bicultural experience, and school activities directly or indirectly significantly affect the ability of multicultural children to speak and understand Korean. In particular, it was found that school activities have a direct effect on the improvement of the Korean language ability of multicultural children, so it was understood that the support of friends and teachers should be treated as very important parts of educational activities in the educational field. These results mean that the most ideal educational environment that affects the development of Korean language skills must be necessarily reflected in the Korean language education policy for multicultural children.
I researched the acceptance attitude to the multiculturalism of Korean people and the relationship between language and society through two Korean films, and . And I researched the language form in the multicultural families in the way conducting the survey targeting international marriage immigrant women. The content and conclusion in shortly are as in the following. (1) The acceptance attitude to the multiculturalism of Korean people is somewhat positive in such a case having no interests among themselves. (2) It depends upon the society and the culture for the foreigners to come into contact and learn the language easily. It means well-adapted to the certain society for the foreign workers to use status-language such as slang and jargon in the society. And this is the good example to show us the relationship between the language and certain society. (3) The language form of the multicultural families in Korea is mainly Korean, but two languages are used in order to communicate well with monolingual. This is called 'bilingualism', and according to the result of my research I think it is 'listening comprehension type bilingualism'. From this time forward it is urgently needed to develop the contents in relation to multiculturalism and the 'bilingualism' education program for multicultural families instead of the education of Korean being limited to communication itself in order to improve adaptiveness to multiculturalism in Korean society.
This study aims to analyze how the media represents marriage immigrant women in the reality of Korean multicultural society. In particular, by analyzing an EBS documentary titled, 'Multicultural Fierce Conflicts between Mother-in-law and Daughter-in-law', this study clarifies that this content adopted travel narrative to show conflicts between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law and solution of these conflicts. The documentary apparently shows mutual understanding and cultural diversity but still keeps representing these conflicts as individual's 'trivial' problems. Under this way of representation, social and structural problem or institutional problem in reality can be covered up by the medium of travel. It makes such a conflict look like an individual's 'trivial' problem can be solved by individuals.

The Korean society has been dramatically changed in its population, with rapidly increasing number of multicultural families through international marriages. The objective is to investigate the dietary patterns as an acculturation for multicultural families in urban area. The research target was 89 marriage immigrant females in Daejeon, in whom 50.6 % was in their twenties and 49.4 % was in their thirties to forties. 39.3% of the subjects was from China and 28.1 % from Vietnam, which showed similar pattern to the ratio of marriage immigrants' homeland in Korea. As age goes higher, cultural adaptation in Korea was the integration pattern. Marriage immigrant females from Vietnam showed the highest rates of marginalization pattern as cultural adaptation. Moreover, those with longer marriage duration and with children tend to show higher rates of integration pattern. 'Food attitude', 'food diversity', and 'balance life' as eating behaviors are related with acculturation. In conclusion, the multicultural families in urban area showed integration acculturation patterns, which could be influenced by their socioeconomic factors, such as residence period and Korean language ability and food diversity as dietary patterns factors. Further study with a quantitative analysis is needed in order to understand the effect of dietary patterns on acculturation in the multicultural families.
This study is to determine health related to Quality of Life(QOL) of married immigrant women in multicultural families, factors of predictors, and influence of these factors to develop and verify the structural model for development of an effective nursing mediation strategy for improved QOL. The participants were 254 women who immigrated to Korea for marriage. The hypothetical model is based on the health improvement model by Pender. Immigrant women's perceived barriers, perceived benefits, self-esteem, and perceived health had an impact on their health promotion behavior(HPB). These variables explained 55.2% of the QOL regarding health, and perceived health conditions, self-efficacy, self-worth, and level of cultural adaptation explained 29.3% of acts towards improving health. The results of this study suggest that development of efficient policy considering factors affecting health related to QOL of married immigrant women in multicultural families.
The purpose of this study was to explore ethnic socialization enacted by Japanese marriage migrant women currently raising 7- to 18-year-old children in Korea. To accomplish this goal, we examined the following research questions: (1) What is the level of ethnic socialization enacted by Japanese marriage migrant mothers? (2) Does the level of ethnic socialization vary by demographic and ethnocultural factors? (3) To what extent do demographic and ethnocultural factors influence the enactment of ethnic socialization by Japanese marriage migrant mothers? The sample consisted of 243 Japanese marriage migrant women currently raising 7- to 18-year-old children in Korea. For data analysis, T-test, correlation, ANOVA, and hierarchical regression analyses were used. Also, we performed separate analyses for two subtypes of ethnic socialization in particular, namely cultural socialization and preparation for bias. Ethnocultural factors examined in this study were the level of discrimination experience, Japanese ethnic identity, and husbands' ethnic orientation in childrearing. The main results of this study were as follows. First, results showed that Japanese marriage migrant women enacted moderate levels of cultural socialization and preparation for bias. Second, Japanese marriage migrant women's cultural socialization and preparation for bias were both positively related to the levels of women's discrimination experience and Japanese ethnic identity. Also, the younger the age of the firstborn child, the more preparation for bias these women performed. In addition, women whose Korean husbands wanted to raise their children more biculturally performed more cultural socialization compared to those with Korean husbands who wanted to raise their children as Korean. Third, hierarchical regression analyses revealed that women's discrimination experience and ethnic identity positively predicted both types of ethnic socialization. Also, Korean husband's bicultural orientation towards childrearing predicted a higher level of cultural socialization by Japanese marriage migrant women. Results of this study provide basic information about ethnic socialization among multicultural families in Korea, which can be useful for promoting positive self-identity among multicultural children. Furthermore, the results suggest that husbands' support and cooperation in ethnic socialization can be crucial for marriage migrant women to socialize their children utilizing their cultural and experiential resources.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the frequency and duration of primary health practitioners' work, and their job satisfaction, and to confirm differences in work and job satisfaction by type of primary health care post. Methods: Work frequency, duration of work, and job satisfaction were estimated by 371 primary health practitioners. Chi-square test and t-test were used to identify the differences in working patterns and job satisfaction by type of primary health care post. Results: Primary health practitioners were found to spend more time working with the elderly population than with students, pregnant women, children, people with disabilities, and multicultural families. Those in costal areas were more concerned with students than those working inland. In the latter group of practitioners, more time was spent working with patients with chronic diseases, pregnant women, women, children, multicultural families, and mental health clients. Also, the job satisfaction of inland primary health practitioners was significantly higher than that of costal practitioners. Conclusion: It is necessary to identify the characteristics of primary health practitioners' work, focusing on changes in the medical service environment. Furthermore, it is necessary to provide job training according to type of primary health care post, as practitioners' approaches should differ between posts.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to analyze the current status of nutrition education programs for multicultural families and to provide policy suggestions for improvement. Methods: In-depth interviews of a total of 21 multicultural experts were conducted; 15 people were interviewed individually, while 6 people were interviewed in groups of three. Results: In-depth interviews revealed various problems related to the operation of nutrition education programs. The causes of problems were analyzed and categorized as four factors: systemic, practical, environmental and cultural. As for the systematic factors, insufficient linkage between related organizations and duplicate performance of several projects were identified as concerns Establishment of a control tower and strengthening the linkage among the related organizations may be needed to address this concern. With regard to practical factors, the study identified that language barriers, and lack of nutritional education media and tools translated into multicultural languages were limiting factors. These limitations the development of nutrition education materials that aretranslated into multiple languages, implementation of education programs that are different from the Korean education, and by providing interpreters. As for the environmental factors, low educational level and poor nutritional knowledge of multicultural women made it difficult for them to understand the contents of the education. Demonstration, practical training and urgent education on pregnancy and childbirth nutrition were identified as needs to address these concerns. Withregard to cultural factors, food culture conflict with Korean families, and difficulties in home practices were detected as concerns. Participants in the study suggested that getting education with family and facilitation of weekend and nighttime programs health of this community. Conclusions: Further studies are needed to adopt more effective and efficient nutrition intervention to promote the healthy eating of the married immigrant women based on the study results.
