달 탐사를 위한 달 표면에서의 무선통신 환경 분석 (Analysis on Wireless Communications Environment at Lunar Surface for Lunar Exploration)

  • 본 논문에서는 달 표면에서의 무선통신에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 달의 내, 외부 요인으로서 온도, 우주방사선, 먼지입자 등에 의한 무선통신 환경 및 통신 임무장비에 대한 영향을 분석하였으며, 또 다른 영향 요인으로서 유성충돌, 달에서의 지진활동, 달의 지자계 분포 등에 대해서도 고찰하였다. 본 논문에서 제시된 결과는 향후 국내 달 탐사 프로젝트에서 달에서의 무선통신시스템 설계에 효과적으로 활용할 수 있는 기초적인 자료로 활용될 것이다.

  • This paper introduces the testbed configuration for telematics wireless communications using WiBro network, one of the next generation wireless communication networks. We review the architecture and core technology of WiBro network, and investigate WiBro based telematics services, WiBro testbed configuration, and function verification and test method for WiBro wireless communication access module.

  • A leased line modem usability was evaluated and investigated in the wireless internet protocol(IP) network. The signal of the modem in the circuit switching network was translated to IP packet by using several voice codecs (PCM, G.711A, $G.711{\mu}$, and etc.) and transmitted through the wireless IP network. The wireless IP network was simulated by the Tactical information and communication network Modeling and simulation Software(TMS). The performance and usability of the leased line modem are simulated using the system-in-the-loop(SITL) function of TMS with respect to packet delay, jitter, packet discard ratio, codecs, and wireless link BER.

Optimal Strategies for Cooperative Spectrum Sensing in Multiple Cross-over Cognitive Radio Networks

  • To improve the sensing performance, cooperation among secondary users can be utilized to collect space diversity. In this paper, we focus on the optimization of cooperative spectrum sensing in which multiple cognitive users efficiently cooperate to achieve superior detection accuracy with minimum sensing error probability in multiple cross-over cognitive radio networks. The analysis focuses on two fusion strategies: soft information fusion and hard information fusion. Under soft information fusion, the optimal threshold of the energy detector is derived in both noncooperative single-user and cooperative multiuser sensing scenarios. Under hard information fusion, the optimal randomized rule and the optimal decision threshold are derived according to the rule of minimum sensing error (MSE). MSE rule shows better performance on improving the final false alarm and detection probability simultaneously. By simulations, our proposed strategy optimizes the sensing performance for each cognitive user which is randomly distributed in the multiple cross-over cognitive radio networks.

A Novel Optimization-Based Approach for Minimum Power Multicast in Wireless Networks

  • In this paper, we formulate the minimum power multicast problem in wireless networks as a mixed integer linear programming problem and then propose a Lagrangean relaxation based algorithm to solve this problem. By leveraging on the information from the Lagrangean multiplier, we could construct more power efficient routing paths. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed approach outperforms the existing approaches for broadcast, multicast, and unicast communications.

  • In this paper, we propose and simulate an efficient interference cancellation scheme with an optimal ordering successive interference cancellation (SIC) algorithm for ultra wideband (UWB)/multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) systems in a wireless body area network (WBAN). When there are several wireless communication devices on a human body, multiple access interference (MAI) usually occurs. To mitigate the effect of MAI and achieve additional diversity gain, we utilize SIC with an optimal ordering algorithm. A zero correlation duration (ZCD) code with robust MAI capability is employed as a spread code for UWB systems in a multi-device WBAN environment. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated in terms of the bit error rate (BER). Simulation results confirm that the BER performance can be improved significantly if the proposed interference cancellation scheme and the ZCD code are jointly employed.

Characterization of Adaptive Modulators in Fixed Wireless ATM Networks

  • The various challenges to realize a fixed wireless ATM network are discussed and some solutions for these challenges are presented. In this paper, the capacity allocation in wireless ATM, the wireless link impact on ATM traffic, and the optimum utilization of the wireless network resonrces for a line of sight (LOS) winless ATM link are studied. An adaptive MQAM modulator is introduced to provide a suitable solution to these issues. The modulator level is adjusted using a unique QoS metric in a wireless network. The metric, termed modified effective bandwidth, takes into account the bandwidth demand, QoS requirements, and outage conditions of the wireless ATM link. A performance study using VBR MPEG-l video traffic in a fixed wireless channel (Ricean channel) demonstrates the advantages of the proposed system.

  • Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are widely applied in monitoring and control of environment parameters. It is sometimes necessary to disseminate data through wireless links after they are deployed in order to adjust configuration parameters of sensors or distribute management commands and queries to sensors. Several approaches have been proposed recently for data dissemination in WSNs. However, none of these approaches achieves both high efficiency and low complexity simultaneously. To address this problem, cluster-tree based network architecture, which divides a WSN into hierarchies and clusters is proposed. Upon this architecture, data is delivered from base station to all sensors in clusters hierarchy by hierarchy. In each cluster, father broadcasts data to all his children with instantly decodable network coding (IDNC), and a novel scheme targeting to maximize total transmission gain (MTTG) is proposed. This scheme employs a new packet scheduling algorithm to select IDNC packets, which uses weight status feedback matrix (WSFM) directly. Analysis and simulation results indicate that the transmission efficiency approximate to the best existing approach maximum weight clique, but with much lower computational overhead. Hence, the energy efficiency achieves both in data transmission and processing.

ATmega16 마이크로컨트롤러를 이용한 전력선통신용 가시광 무선통신 시스템 구현 및 수신 특성 분석 (A Study on Realization and Receiving Characteristic Analysis of Visible Light Wireless Communication System for Power Line Communications Using ATmega16 Microcontroller)

  • This study is to solve problems of depletion of RF bandwidth frequency, confusion possibility, security that current wireless communications system have and is to confirm possibility of applying next generation network. To solve problems of current wireless communications system, visible light communications system for power line communications using ATmega16 Microcontroller is was realized and receiver property was analyzed. PLC exclusive chip APLC-485MA, Microcontroller ATmega16, 5pi bulb type LED and high flux LED, visible light receiving sensor LLS08-A1 were used for transmitter and receiver. Performance was analyzed by designed program and an oscilloscope. It was showed average 20% improved receiver rate rather than bulb type LED in the case of high flux LED through voltage change rate on communication distance and LED type of distance between 10 to 50 cm. The blue LED showed the best performance among measured LED types with above 10% of voltage decreasing rate. But As it gradually becomes more distant, the precise date was difficult to obtain due to weak light. To overcome these sort of problems, specific values such as changing conditions and efficiency value relevant to light emitting parts and visible light receiving sensor should be calculated and continuous study and improvements should also be accomplished for the better communications condition.

Develop an Effective Security Model to Protect Wireless Network

  • Security is an important issue for wireless communications and poses many challenges. Most security schemes have been applied to the upper layers of communications networks. Since in a typical wireless communication, transmission of data is over the air, third party receiver(s) may have easy access to the transmitted data. This work examines a new security technique at the physical layer for the sake of enhancing the protection of wireless communications against eavesdroppers. We examine the issue of secret communication through Rayleigh fading channel in the presence of an eavesdropper in which the transmitter knows the channel state information of both the main and eavesdropper channel. Then, we analyze the capacity of the main channel and eavesdropper channel we also analyze for the symbol error rate of the main channel, and the outage probability is obtained for the main transmission. This work elucidate that the proposed security technique can safely complement other Security approaches implemented in the upper layers of the communication network. Lastly, we implement the results in Mat lab
