이륜자동차 창닦이기장치 등의 국내안전기준 개발 (The Development of the Korean Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for Windscreen Wiper Systems of Motorcycles)

  • Two-wheeled motorcycles rarely use windscreen wipers in general. However, if two or more wheeled motorcycles with upper body employ windscreen wiper systems, clear visibility should be ensured regardless of weather conditions. The windscreen wiper systems include washers, defrosting, and demisting. As demands for the personal mobility are rapidly increased, the related global safety standards for motorcycles with upper body have been revised accordingly. Currently only EU regulations issue the provisions of windscreen wiper systems for L-category vehicles, which characterize two or more wheeled motorcycles. Therefore, in order to agree with international safety standards, it is necessary to revise KMVSS (Korea Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) for motorcycles. Here, KMVSS regarding windscreen wiper systems for motorcycles are studied considering the EU regulations. It is expected that the findings in this study are useful for future amendment of KMVSS.

와이퍼 블레이드의 누름압 해석 (Contact Pressure Analysis of a Windshield Wiperblade)

  • The contact pressure distribution between a rubber wiper blade and a glass windshield is a major factor for wiping performance. A modeling and simulation method has been developed to forecast the contact pressure distribution on a wiper blade. For modeling multi-body dynamics of an wiper linkage system and flexible nature of wiper blade, ADAMS and ADAMS/flex are employed. A simulation study has been also conducted to obtain contact pressure distribution. Comparison between simulation and measurement is provided to ensure fidelity of the model and the simulation method.

Characterization of Chlorinated NR using Pyrolytic Technique

  • Vehicle wiper blades are typically treated with chlorine to lower their friction coefficient with the windshield surface. In this study, a chlorinated, natural rubber (NR) vehicle wiper blade was characterized using a pyrolytic technique. Unchlorinated and chlorinated wiper blades were pyrolyzed and the pyrolysis products were analyzed using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Besides isoprene and dipentene, the other principal pyrolysis products such as 1,5,8-p-menthatriene (MTT) and p,α-dimethylstyrene (DMS) were observed. The MTT and DMS ratios did not vary for the chlorinated nor unchlorinated samples when the entire rubber lip of the wiper blade was pyrolyzed. However, when only the lip surface of the wiper blade rubber was pyrolyzed (via scratching with a knife) the relative ratios of the chlorinated sample were much greater than those of the unchlorinated sample. As MTT is produced from the conjugated backbone of chlorinated NR that forms through HCl elimination during initial pyrolysis, and DMS is generated by the dehydrogenation of MTT, these two products could be used as markers for detecting chlorinated NR.

자동차 고속 주행시 와이퍼 부상현상에 대한 수치해석 연구 (Numerical Study on Aerodynamic Lift on Windshield Wiper of High-Speed Passenger Vehicles)

  • 고속으로 주행하는 자동차에서 전면유리 와이퍼의 부상 현상은 와이퍼의 닦임 성능을 저해하여 운전자의 안전을 위협한다. 본 연구에서는 고속 주행 시 와이퍼가 작동하는 차량 주변의 3차원 CFD 해석을 수행하여 와이퍼의 닦임 성능 향상을 위한 방안을 모색하였다. 정확한 해석결과를 얻기 위하여 차량과 와이퍼의 자세한 형상을 모델링하였고, 해석 결과로 와이퍼의 양력계수와 항력계수를 산출하였다. 또한, 수치해석을 통하여 와이퍼 작동 각도와 후드 끝단 각도가 전면유리 와이퍼의 양력계수와 항력계수에 미치는 영향에 대하여 분석하였다.

  • In this paper, we calculate the premium rate of reliability insurance policy for wiper motors under the assumption of Weibull physics of failure. We also describe the performance factors which have an effect on failure characteristics of wiper motors. The maximum likelihood estimates of shape parameter and scale parameter are obtained by using interval censored real data of sample sizes 6 using MINITAB.

회전익 항공기의 와이퍼 암 형상변경을 통한 비행 안전성 향상 (Improvement of Flight Safety on Configuration Change of Rotorcraft Wiper Arm)

  • 본 논문은 회전익 항공기의 와이퍼 시스템의 설계 개선에 관한 연구이다. 국내 회전익 항공기의 우천환경 운용 시, 와이퍼 닦임 성능 저하 및 떨림 현상이 발생하였다. 와이퍼 시스템은 크게 와이퍼 암 조립체, 전동기, 와이퍼 변환기 조립체, 플랙스 드라이브로 구성되며, 와이퍼 시스템에 문제가 발생하면 우천환경의 작전에 제한사항이 발생하여 작전능력이 감소한다. 이러한 와이퍼 시스템의 문제를 야기한 원인은 크게 2가지로 검토되었으며, 첫번째 사유는 항공기 기동조건에서 와이퍼 암에 작용하는 부상력 때문이며, 두번째는 구성품들의 과다한 유격 때문이다. 이 2가지 문제를 개선하기 위해서 본 연구가 수행되었으며, 4가지의 와이퍼 구성품 중 와이퍼 암을 개선하였다. 개선 내용으로는 와이퍼 암의 누름압(스프링 장력) 증가, 기어 공차 개선, 재질 및 형상 변경이 수행되었다. 개선형상의 검증은 구성품 단위 내구성 시험, 항공기 지상 시험, 비행 시험이 수행되었으며, 설계 개선된 와이퍼 암을 장착하였을 시 닦임 성능 및 유격문제가 해소된 것을 확인 할 수 있었다. 닦임성능은 육안으로 확인하였으며, 유격문제는 와이퍼 작동거리를 측정하여 확인하였다. 현재 국내 회전익 항공기는 개선 형상을 적용하여 문제없이 운용하고 있으며, 이러한 설계 개선 과정은 향후 회전익 항공기 개발 시 유용한 참고자료가 될 것이다.

  • When raining or snowing, windshield wiper system is very important for safety of driver. However, manual wiper system frequently needed to be controlled for sufficient visibility and it was very uncomfortable. So, rain sensor which controls automatically was developed. This rain sensor technology uses optical sensing technique sensed the rainfall by receiving reflected light of rain dropped on the windshield. The technology used optical sensor was simple and easy to implement as a rain sensing system in the car. However, it is sometime shown low accuracy to measure rainfall on the windshield when affected by ambient lights from surroundings. It is also given inconvenience to the driver to control the car. To solving these problems, we propose a rain sensing system using image sensor and the fuzzy wiper control algorithm.

다이캐스팅용 알루미늄 합금으로 제작된 윈도우 와이퍼의 강도 해석 (Strength Analysis of Aluminum Alloy Window Wiper Manufactured by Die Casting)

  • This study analyzed the amount of displacement of window wipers according to pressure by using finite element analysis (FEA) with KS standards for aluminum alloy window wipers manufactured by die-casting method. The product design was changed over four steps considering the die-casting process to achieve strength greater than that of the conventional steel window wiper. According to the FEA results, the strength of final aluminum alloy window wiper improved by 55% over that of a steel window wiper, and the weight of the former was less by approximately 45%. Therefore, there is the possibility of module downsizing for driving motor capacity. Further, the cost competitiveness improved, and the manufacturing process of aluminum alloy window wipers was simplified.

  • In this paper, an optimization program for the design of wiper mechanisms is developed to minimize jerky motion while satisfying design constraints on kinematic and torque performances, mobility condition, and packaging. The lengths/orientations of the links and the position of a driving motor are selected as the design variables. In our optimum design program for wiper mechanisms, an optimization module interacts with an analysis module which calculates kinematic and force/torque properties, until convergence. The optimization results of a particular wiper mechanism are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the program developed.

  • 자동차의 와이퍼 브레이드 성능은 자동차 안전성 확보에 크게 기여한다. 유리면에 접착된 먼지나 이물질 등을 제거하는 기능을 확보하기 위해 와이퍼 브레이드는 닦임성, 내구력, 내열 저온 내오존성 내화학성이 높아야 할 뿐만 아니라 소음이 적어야 한다. 이와 같이 와이퍼의 기능 개선을 위해서는 와이퍼의 성능을 평가하고 분석할 수 있는 시스템 장비가 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 자동차의 와이퍼 누름압을 측정하는 시스템의 개발을 위해 누름압 센서에서 출력되는 신호를 받아 퍼스널 컴퓨터에 전달하는 아날로그 디지털 변환기를 설계하고자 한다. 설계한 ADC는 빠른 동작 속도를 얻으면서 전체 시스템의 면적 및 전력소모를 최적화하는 구조인 파이프라인 ADC이다.
