The present study investigated the perceptual span during reading Korean, using the moving-window display change technique introduced by McConkie and Rayner(1975). Eight different window sizes were used in Experiment 1. They were 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 characters in size and the full line. Reading rate, number of fixation, saccadic distance, fixation duration were compared between each window-size condition and the full line condition. The reading rate was no higher in the full line condition than in the 15 character condition but was higher than in the other conditions. The number of fixations was no larger in the full line condition than in the 15 character condition, had a tendency to be larger than in the 13 characters condition, and was more than in the other conditions. The result pattern of the saccadic distance based on character was the same as that of the reading rate, and the saccadic distance based on the pixel was the same as that of the number of fixation. Similarly, for fixation duration, there was no differences between whole line condition and 15, 13, and 11 characters condition. The fixation duration had a tendency to be shorter in the 9 characters, and was shorter in the 7, 5, and 3 characters conditions than whole line condition. In Experiment 2, based on asymmetry of perceptual span, the 6 different window sizes(0, 1, 2, 3, 4 characters in size and the full line) were used. There was a difference only between the 0 condition and the other conditions in the reading rate, number of fixations, fixation duration. Considering the pattern of eye-movement measures above, the perceptual span of Korean readers extends about 6-7 characters to the right of fixation and 1 character to the left of fixation.
The present study investigated the perceptual span(or the span of effective vision) of junior-high school students during reading Korean, using the material and the moving-window display change technique used in Choi & Koh(2009). The 8 different window sizes were used in the experiment. They were 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 characters in size and the whole line. Reading rate, number of fixation, saccadic distance, fixation duration were compared between each window-size condition and the whole line condition. Considering the pattern of eye-movement measures above, the size of the perceptual span of junior-high school students in Korean reading may be estimated to be 9 characters, that is 4 characters to the right and 1 characters to the left of the fixation.

In dispersion management (DM) and optical phase conjugation applied into optical transmission links with multi fiber spans for minimizing the impact of nonlinearity and group velocity (GVD), implementation possibility of DM using only one fiber span for pre- or postcompensation was assessed as a function of duty cycle of RZ pulse and residual dispersion per span (RDPS). It is confirmed that DM with optimal net residual dispersion (NRD) controlled by only one fiber span could be sufficiently applied into optical transmission links, though optimal NRD is more increased than that in transmission links with the general DM scheme of pre- and postcompensation. Thus, it is expected that optical transmission system is simply designed and implemented by applying the proposed DM scheme into real optical transmission links. Also, it is confirmed that the advantageous duty cycle of RZ is 0.5 and RDPS is setting to be small value for the effective transmitting wide signal wavelength range in optical links with optimal NRD controlled by only one fiber span.

In decoding the turbo codes, the sliding window BCJR algorthm, derived from the BCJR algorithm, permits a continuous decoding of the coded sequence without requiring trellis fermination of the constituent codes and uses reduced memory span. However, the number of computation required is greater than that of BCJR algorithm and no study on the effect of the window length has been reported. In this paper, we propose an eddicient sliding window type scheme which maintains the advantages of the conventional sliding window algorithm, reduces its computational burdens, and improves is BER performance. A guideline is first presented to determine the proper window length and then a computationally efficient sliding window BCJR algorithm is obtained by allowing the window to be forwarded in multi-step. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional sliding window BCJR algorithm with reduced complexity. It gains 0.1dB SNR improvements over the conventional method for the constraint length 3 and BER $10^{-4}$

In this paper, new and simple optical transmission link with fixed dispersion management (DM) scheme, i.e., pre(post) compensation and residual dispersion per span (RDPS) are fixed to net residual dispersion (NRD) = 0 ps/nm, and optical phase conjugator (OPC) having optimal position depending on launch power in WDM transmission system is proposed. Also, effective launch power range of WDM channels resulting 1 dB eye opening penalty (EOP) is induced as a function of OPC position. First, it is confirmed that, for applying DM into WDM transmission link fixed pre(post)compensation and RDPS, which are independence on exact system parameters except launch power, sufficiently are used in WDM links, but OPC with optimal position is needed for effective compensating impairments of WDM channels. And, it is confirmed that effective launch power is broader in case of RDPS = 100 ps/nm than in RDPS = 50 ps/nm. But, it is shown that the best OPC position offset is -0.6 km from a point of view of power window, which is defined as difference between maximum and minimum effective launch power.
Multiple-count problem is occurred when rectangle objects span across several buckets. The Cumulative Density (CD) histogram is a technique which solves multiple-count problem by keeping four sub-histograms corresponding to the four points of rectangle. Although it provides exact results with constant response time, there is still a considerable issue. Since it is based on a query window which aligns with a given grid, a number of errors may be occurred when it is applied to real applications. In this paper, we proposed selectivity estimation techniques using the generalized cumulative density histogram based on two probabilistic models: (1) probabilistic model which considers the query window area ratio, (2) probabilistic model which considers intersection area between a given grid and objects. In order to evaluate the proposed methods, we experimented with real dataset and experimental results showed that the proposed technique was superior to the existing selectivity estimation techniques. The proposed techniques can be used to accurately quantify the selectivity of the spatial range query on rectangle objects.

As for structural system, which constitutes his construction, there are column inside dimension and span which constitutes plane, and as for constructions for section, there are C.H and slab, and as for constructive factors for envelope, there are window and closing panel of outer wall, and as for opening, there are punching window and wave window. With these constructive parts and opening of envelope, his construction composes volume and mass. The relation of structure and modulor which are shown in his later construction can be divided in two cases that modulor is directly and indirectly adapted for rate and measure calculation of the constructive body. As for indirectly adapted case, we can find it form most of his later construction, it is living place in which human beings life is, and it is adapted mainly for small space. In his construction, he tried to tell human scale and sense of musical rhythm through modulor. In other words, he played sense of space and musical scale by adapting regular and repetitive modulor of opening, and in small space for daily life, he made the size of space into the space which human can perceive. And, if we interpret mudulor in modern meaning, it is an establishment of radius of human act. And, we can make organic and harmonic design of space if we use modulor as origin of human centered measurement calculation, and if we adapt space after dividing by use.
Dimensions, operation conditions and improvement items for round roof windows were investigated in arch shape single-span plastic greenhouse with roof vents, and natural ventilation performance was analyzed based on the ventilation theory. Diameter of round roof windows was mostly 60 cm, and chimney height projected on roof was average 30 cm. Installation space was mostly 5 to 6 m but farmhouse of 10 m and over was 16.7% also. A round roof window which has 60 cm diameter was installed to 6 m space generally and 80 cm diameter was installed to 10 m space, but correct standards did not exist. There were a lot of opinions that ventilation effect of round roof windows is fairly good and user satisfaction is generally excellent. It is problem that there is few effects in summer and that vinyl around each vent tears well and rainwater leaks, and improvement hope item required development of automatic control system. In the wind speed of 0.3 m/s, it was estimated that natural ventilation rates were 0.69, 0.55, 0.50 and 0.48 volumes per minute in case of 2, 4, 6 and 8 m installation space for round roof windows, respectively. It was analyzed that the ratio of ventilation due to buoyancy out of total ventilation were 65.2, 41.9, 29.9 and 22.8% in case of 2, 4, 6 and 8m installation space, respectively. By the round roof windows installed at space of 6 m, ventilation rate was estimated to 0.5 volumes per minute, and we can expect the increase in ventilation rate of 30%. In order to meet the recommended ventilation rate for summer season, we have to install the round roof windows at space of 1 to 2 m. However, it is difficult to apply those installation space because of falling productivity due to lower light transmittance as well as rising costs. It is estimated that the installation space of 6m is appropriate for spring or fall season. Therefore it is necessary to encourage installing the roof windows in single-span plastic greenhouses.
It is difficult to install a ventilation window on the roof of single span greenhouses of arch shape. Investigation on the roof ventilation structures for those greenhouses was conducted. In small greenhouses with spans of 5 to 8 m, circular or chimney type ridge vents made of plastic were employed. In large greenhouses with spans of 12 to 18 m, even span roll-up ridge vents made of steel pipe were employed. The effect of roof ventilation was evaluated by comparative experiments between greenhouse installing ridge vents and having controlled side vents only. Roof ventilation contributed greatly to restraint of temperature rise and maintenance of uniform temperature distribution in greenhouses. And ventilation efficiency was analyzed by experiments on the opening and closing operation of the ridge and side vent. There were no temperature differences according to opening and closing sequence of ventilation window. But for greenhouse temperature control by ventilation, it is desirable to open side vents after ridge vents and to close ridge vents after side vents.
