지르코니아-코디어라이트 복합재료에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Cordierite Ceramic Composite Dispersed with the Zirconia)

  • Cordierite(2MgO$.$2Al2O3$.$5SiO2) was known to display low thermal expansions over wide temperature ranges, but showed poor mechanical strength. The present studies have been concerned with the sintering of cordierite based ceramics containing pure or stabilized zirconia. The crystallographic and microstructural results were not affected by the fact whether added zirconia was stabilized or not. As the contents of zirconia were increased, M.O.R., KIC, bulk densities were increased but the thermal expansion coefficients were decreased.

  • We have developed the novel liquid crystal materials with a difluoromethyleneoxy (CF2O) moiety as a linkage group in order to satisfy the diversified various requirements for AM-LCDs. These novel CF2O LC materials have excellent physical properties that are high dielectric anisotropy, low viscosity and wide nematic temperature ranges. Physical properties measurement results that mixtures containing CF2O LC materials have suitable for characteristics for AM-LCDs. The CF2O LC materials are excellent compound for quick response and low driving voltage application.

PHOTOMETRIC EVOLUTION OF ELLIPTICAL GALAXIES

  • We have examined the photometric evolution of elliptical galaxies, using stellar evolutionary models covering the wide ranges of metallicity and mass, and the different IMFs (simple IMP & time-dependent bimodal IMF). The model with a time-dependent bimodal IMF can reproduce the observed integrated magnitudes and colors at all wavelengths. The computed model shows that the star formation in elliptical galaxies is still going on, although the number of newly born stars is very small. The chemical evolutionary effect is clearly seen in the C-M diagram of computed elliptical galaxies.

A PROPOSED CORRELATION FOR CRITICAL FLOW RATE OF WATER FLOW

  • A new correlation predicting the idealized critical mass-flow rates of water for subcooled and saturated liquid water including two-phase water flow was developed for a wide range of upstream stagnation pressures (e.g., 0.5-20.0 MPa). A choking correction factor dependent on the upstream stagnation pressure and subcooled temperature was introduced into a new correlation, and its values were suggested to satisfy the idealized nozzle data within 10% error ranges. The suggested correlation will be instructive and helpful for related studies and/or engineering works.

페라이트-유전체 적층형 전파흡수체 (Electromagnetic Wave Absorber of Laminated Ferrite and Dielectrics)

  • Ferrite electromagnetic wave absorber whose attenuation ability are mainly relied on their magnetic loss, has been used in relatively narrow wave frequency ranges. In this study, we tried to produce a wide-range electromagnetic wave absorber by laminating sintered ferrite (Mn0.07Ni0.28Zn0.65Fe2O4) and dielectrics (Cordierite). We also investigated effects of dielectric constant and thickness on the attenuation behavior of the absorber. Applicable band width, in which the attenuation is greater than 20 dB can be widened from 100∼700 MHz of ferrite alone to 100∼900MHz by employing the laminated structure. Thickness of dielectrics to achieve wide-range application decreased as the dielectric constant increased.

  • A high bandwidth watt-converter, based on an inexpensive, commercially available, standard IC package, is described that covers a frequency ranges from DC to 100 kHz. The new resistive shunt for a wide-band frequency current measurement of the watt-converter was developed. The converter will use application in accurate power measurement under distorted and high frequency conditions. The advantages of the proposed watt-converter are its simplicity, low cost and fast response time.

스파크 점화기관의 난류 화염전파모델에 관한 연구 (A Study on Turbulent Flame Propagation Model of S. I. Engines)

  • The modeling of combustion process is an important part in an engine simulation program. In this study, calculated results using a conventional B-K model and the other model which is called GESIM were compared with experimentally measured data of a three-cylinder spark-ignition engine under wide range of operating conditions. The burn rates calculated from the combustion models were compared with the burn rate calculated from the one-zone heat release analysis that uses measured pressure data as an input data. As a result of the two models' comparison, the GESIM combustion model conformed to be closer to the data acquired from the experiment in wide operating ranges. The GESIM model has been improved by introducing a variable that considers the flame size, the area of flame conacting the piston surface into the model, based on the comparison between the experimental result and the calculated results. The improved combustion model predicts experimental results more precisely than that of GESIM combustion model.

  • SRM has a characteristic of a robust, simple structure and wide operating ranges. So, recently it has studied and developed in many kinds and forms with the technology of power electronics and analysis and design by use of computer. Also, It is used in a very wide range of industrial applications. In particular, single phase switched reluctance motor has a merit in practical use because it has simple operating drives and control systems, very high energy density per unit volume comparing with three phase SRM. But it must have a starting device. In this paper design procedures of single phase SRM development for blower drives are presented. It is selected the design parameters by compared with design theory of general electric machine and poly phase SRM. Also it is simulated the designed prototype model by FEM for the prediction of characteristics.
