A comprehensive review for the selection of urban rail vehicle systems that best suit Gimpo railway line is taking place with consideration of the project area characteristics in light of line planning, passenger demand, supply of rolling stock, and railway construction and operation. Various aspects of vehicle systems including passenger demand on concerned lines, regional characteristics, vehicle types, and railway construction and operational settings should be taken into consideration. In addition, request for the introduction of customized vehicle systems reflecting the convenience of transit users such as wide and hospitable inner space, low noise, flexible operation of 2 to 4 car train-set and eye catching slim bridge piers is increasing. A study on alternatives to place an order to opt for optimum rolling stock systems considering line characteristics of Gimpo City's urban railway and future passenger demand while meeting the needs of Gimpo City has been conducted.

In this paper, The Next Generation High Speed Railway inverter system using Hybrid Random Pulse Width Modulation (Hybrid RPWM) is proposed to reduce electromagnetic noise. To verify the validity of study, simulation results of the Next Generation High Speed Railway Inverter system using the proposed method was compared with the system using conventional method. A simulation program is developed using Matlab/Simulink. The results show that the voltage and current harmonics of the Next Generation High Speed Railway Inverter system using Hybrid RPWM significantly decrease and spread into wide band area.
Recently, many railway stations are built under the railway line in urban area. The passage of railway vehicles generates mechanical vibrations of a wide range of frequency. Thus, it is required to place structural vibration isolation systems to reduce vibration and noise originating from surrounding environments. This study is to investigate the maximum floating slab length based on track/floating slab interaction analyses. Actions to be taken into account include temperature, braking/acceleration, bending of the deck, and creep/shrinkage. The additional rail stress has been chosen for the criterion for the maximum slab length. In addition, further analyses are performed to include the stopper which restrict the in-plane movement of the floating slab track. Several alternatives for stopper positions were thoroughly studied in this study.

In this paper, The Next Generation High Speed Railway inverter system based on IPMSM drives using Random Pulse Position Modulation is proposed to reduce electromagnetic noise. To verify the validity of study, the simulator for the proposed system is designed and impplemented. Simulation program is developed using Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results of the proposed system was compared with the system using conventional method. The results show that the voltage and current harmonics of the proposed Next Generation High Speed Railway Inverter system. significantly decrease and spread into wide band area by the proposed Random Pulse Position modulation technique based on Space Vector Modulation method.
Recently, many railway stations are built under the railway line in urban area. The passage of railway vehicles generates mechanical vibrations of a wide range of frequency. Thus, it is required to place structural vibration isolation systems to reduce vibration and noise originating from surrounding environments. This study utilizes elastometric bearings as a vibration isolation system. The slab track system on elastometric bearings is called "low vibration track" or "floating slab track." In this low vibration track system, dowel bars or plates can be installed to minimize the discontinuity of displacement between adjacent floating slab tracks. This study is to numerically investigate the effects of dowel members on static behavior of the low vibration track. The study involves two steel dowel systems including dowel bars and dowel plates. Each dowel system is analyzed under the service load condition to assess load transfer efficiency (LTE).
High-speed railway trains entering and leaving tunnels generate finite amplitude pressure wave which propagate back and forth along the tunnels, reflecting at the open ends of the tunnels and at other discontinuities such as ventilation shafts and the train themselves. In present day railways, the magnitudes of the pressure waves are much too small to cause structual damage, but they are a serious potential source of aural discomport for passengers on unsealed trains. Almost always do the pressure waves propagating along the tunnels lead to a hazardous impulse noise near the exit portal of the tunnel. In order to alleviate such undesirable phenomena, some control strategies have been applied to the compression wave propagating inside the tunnel. The objective of the current work is to investigate the effect of tunnel entrance hoods on the entry compression wave at the vicinity of the tunnel entrance. Three types of entrance hoods were tested by the numerical method using the characteristics of method for a wide range of train speeds. The results show that the maximum pressure gradient of compression wave can be considerably reduced by the tunnel entrance hood. Desirable hood shape for reduction of the pressure transients and impulse noise was found to be of abrupt type hood with its cross-sectional area 2.5times the tunnel area.
Due to the large number of railway bridges along China's high-speed railway (HSR) lines, which cover a wide area with many lines crossing the seismic zone, the possibility of a HSR train running over a bridge when an earthquake occurs is relatively high. Since the safety performance of the train will be threatened, it is necessary to study the safety of trains running over HSR bridges during earthquakes. However, ground motion (GM) is highly random and selecting the appropriate ground-motion intensity measures (IMs) for train running safety analysis is not trivial. To deal this problem, a model of a coupled train-bridge system under seismic excitation was established and 104 GM samples were selected to evaluate the correlation between 16 different IMs and train running safety over HSR bridges during earthquakes. The results show that spectral velocity (SvT1) and displacement (SdT1) at the fundamental period of the structure have good correlation with train running safety for medium-and long-period HSR bridges, and velocity spectrum intensity (VSI) and Housner intensity (HI) have good correlation for a wide range of structural periods. Overall, VSI and HI are the optimal IMs for safety analysis of trains running over HSR bridges during earthquakes. Finally, based on VSI and HI, the IM thresholds of an HSR bridge at different speed were analyzed.
In this paper, we introduced a sequential intelligent image analysis system(SIIAS). This system is implemented using PTZ camera with intelligent analysis algorithm and TI's Davinci DM6446. Enter, abandon, removal and cross functions are included in our system. These functions can be used individually or in combination for object monitoring and tracking. Sequential intelligent function processing is more efficient than the previous one by virtue of accurate observation, wide area monitoring and low cost.
Since the KTX start its service on April 1st of 2004, KTX increased its share up to 17.4% (2008). It's the 2nd after the passenger car share of 59.2% in the national transportation, but the gap is still wide. In addition, because of the rise of goods' and oil price, the share of intercity express bus is growing up. Nevertheless Korail is trying to improve the train schedule and develop internodal transit system, the number of passengers of KTX is remain flat. KORAIL should start and proceed the tasks below. - Analysis of the 5 year's operation of KTX since the year of 2004 to make plans for the steady growth - development of the KTX operation plan for expansion of railway - preparing the operation of additional passenger rail services on the mail line for newly introduced trains. - expansion of KTX's service area after the introduction of KTX-II - introduction of other new trains - examination for the action plans to promote marketing in main-line including refinement of the rate structure

The entry compression wave, which forms at the entrance of a high-speed railway tunnel, is closely related to the pressure transients in the train/tunnel systems as well as an impulsive noise appearing at the exit of the tunnel. Optimum hood shape necessary to reduce the pressure transients and impulsive noise was found to be of an abrupt type hood with its cross-sectional area 2.5 times the tunnel area. It is believed that the current results are highly useful in predicting the effects of entrance hoods and in choosing the shape of proper hood.
