  • The offshore plants such as FPSO are subjected to combination loading of environmental conditions (swell, wave, wind and current). Therefore the fatigue damage is occurred in the operation time because the units encounter the environmental phenomena and the structural configurations are complicated. This paper is a research for frequency domain fatigue analysis of wide-band random loading focused on accuracy of fatigue damage estimation regarding the proposed methods. We selected ideal bi-modal spectrum. And comparison between time-domain fatigue analysis and frequency-domain fatigue analyses are conducted through the fatigue damage ratio. Fatigue damage ratios according to Vanmarcke's bandwidth parameter are founded for wide-band. Considering safety, we recommend that Jiao-Moan and Tovo-Benasciutti methods are optimal way at the fatigue design for wide-band response. But, it is important that these methods based on frequency-domain unstably change the accuracy according to the material parameter of S-N curve. This study will be background and guidance for the new frequency-domain fatigue analysis development in the future.

  • Power plant is that very high reliability when industrial and economic impact on the overall electric power system is required, it is essential to improve the reliability, especially the fault prediction diagnosis. Since an accident caused by the partial discharge in the power plant is above state has a faster response characteristic than the other indications in the case of any, the partial discharge generated in the power plant immediately detect the deterioration of insulation due to the accident of the power plant and the non-drawn It should prevent or reduce. Partial Discharge Measuring Systems for UHV SF6 Gas Insulated Switchgear and power transformer on site installed has some probability of abnormal recognition in case of non-flexible deal with on site noise. Many methode to eliminate these kinds of noises, UHF Detection System is chosen as purchase description in Korea, but this system having a bandwidth between 500MHz 1.5GHz wide band. Initial install periods(about 20 years ago), this band had no strong signal source, but in these days this wide band have strong signals, such as LTE. So, module described in this paper is designed as simultaneously use with wide and narrow band for solve this noise problem, and introduce this system.

  • A significant development has been made on a new fatigue damage model applicable to Gaussian wide band stress response spectra using numerical approximation methods such as data processing, time simulation, and regression analysis. So far, most of the alternative approximate models provide slightly underestimated or overestimated damage results compared with the rain-flow counting distribution. A more reliable approximate model that can minimize the damage differences between exact and approximate solutions is required for the practical design of ships and offshore structures. The present paper provides a detailed description of the development process of a new fatigue damage model. Based on the principle of the Gaussian wide band model, this study aims to develop the best approximate fatigue damage model. To obtain highly accurate damage distributions, this study deals with some prominent research findings, i.e., the moment of rain-flow range distribution MRR(n), the special bandwidth parameter μk, the empirical closed form model consisting of four probability density functions, and the correction factor QC. Sequential prerequisite data processes, such as creation of various stress spectra, extraction of stress time history, and the rain-flow counting stress process, are conducted so that these research findings provide much better results. Through comparison studies, the proposed model shows more reliable and accurate damage distributions, very close to those of the rain-flow counting solution. Several significant achievements and findings obtained from this study are suggested. Further work is needed to apply the new developed model to crack growth prediction under a random stress process in view of the engineering critical assessment of offshore structures. The present developed formulation and procedure also need to be extended to non-Gaussian wide band processes.

  • A ring filter is proposed as a wide-banded filter. It consists of a ring and two short stubs, which are connected at 90$^{\circ}$ and 270$^{\circ}$ points of the ring. Since the termination impedance at 90$^{\circ}$ and 270$^{\circ}$ points of the ring and the characteristic impedance of the short stub have an effect on designing of it, the relation between them and bandwidths has been studied. Based on the study, two types of small-sized wideband CVT(constant VSWR-type impedance transformer)- and CCT(constant conductance-type impedance transformer)-ring filters are introduced, designed, simulated and one of two, a CCT -ring filter, is tested. The circumference of the ring can be reduced theoretically up to 60$^{\circ}$ and two of many cases having about 300$^{\circ}$ circumferences are simulated. The simulated results show more than 100 % fractional bandwidth, which can be obtained with more than 5 stages in conventional filter-design techniques. To test the designed CCT-ring filter, it has been fabricated in microstrip technology and the measured results show good agreement with the simulated ones, having more than 100 % fractional bandwidth.

  • In order to organize the Intelligent Transport System(ITS) as a communication equipment, the satellite and wireless system demand broadband characteristics for collecting information from the wide road. Band-pass filters (BPF) or broad BPFs used in such communication system are required for broadband characteristics. This paper presents a design of such broad BPF which can be used in the system. Designed BPF which was difficult to get broadband characteristics after realization, become possible to realize filter with broad bandwidth and compact structure using parallel coupled line. The designed filter achieved the insertion losses improved by 0.4 dB and the return losses improved by 17.4 dB respectively with 60% of bandwidth at the 5.8 GHz of the center frequency, respectively.

  • In this paper, we studied the design and fabrication of $2{\times}2$ array-type microstrip patch antenna to be used in wireless communication systems operating at around 5GHz band. To obtain wide bandwidth and high gain, antenna parameters such as patch size, inter patch space are simulated by HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulator). From these parameters, the $2{\times}2$ array-type microstrip patch antenna is fabricated using FR-4 substrate. The measured results of the antenna are as follows: The center frequency of 5.06GHz, insertion loss of -44dB, bandwidth of 200MHz, and VWSR of 1.1.

  • This work presents a method used for designing a broadband class-E power amplifier that combines the two techniques of a nonlinear shunt capacitance and a low quality factor of a series resonator. The nonlinear shunt capacitance theory accurately extracts the value of class-E components. In addition, the quality factor of the series resonator was considered to obtain a wide bandwidth for the power amplifiers. The purpose of using this method was to produce a simple topology and a high efficiency, which are two outstanding features of a class-E power amplifier. The experimental results show that a design was created using from a 130 to 180 MHz frequency with a bandwidth of 32% and a peak measured power added efficiency of 84.8%. This prototype uses an MRF282SR1 MOSFET transistor at a 3-W output power level. Furthermore, a summary of the experimental results compared with other high-efficiency articles is provided to validate the advantages of this method.
