Not Leather Boots but Dress Shoes: White-Collar Masculinity and the Far-Right Movement

  • This paper investigates whether white-collar masculinity can play a role in the life of a far-right activist. The current study employs the methods of psychosocial analysis devised by Wendy Hollway and Tony Jefferson. Using the case of a Japanese far-right activist, it explores how the hegemony and decline of "salaryman masculinity" in Japan interacted with his life. It draws attention to the suffering of white-collar men in their struggle to comply with hegemonic masculinity. These men's suffering tends to be overlooked due to their stable socio-economic status, but it can potentially play a role in their investment in far-right discourse.

직업 유형에 따른 척추질환 유병률 조사 (A Study on Incidence of Spinal Disease by Occupational Type)

  • Objectives : Recently work-related musculoskeletal disorders have increased in various workplaces and many reports have been confirming this, but a comparative study on incidence of spinal disease by occupation has not been established yet. So this study was designed to clarify the distinction on incidence of spinal disease between white and blue collar workers. Methods : The subjects who visited with spinal disease to Ja-Seng oriental hospital from January to April in 2020 were selected and divided into white collar workers(n=844) and blue collar workers(n=333). We counted the number of patients with each spinal disease in both groups and carried out comparative analysis in five items(herniated nucleus pulposus(HNP), stenosis, spondylosis, sprain, etc). All data were analyzed by chi-square test. Results and Conclusions : Whit collar workers had higher incidence in HNP(p=0.030), sprain(p=0.016),etc(p=0.035) than blue collar workers, while blue collar workers had higher incidence in stenosis(p=0.002). But we think that the confidence is low in stenosis because the number of cases are very small. There were no significance between two groups with spondylosis.

조선업에서 사무직과 생산직 근로자의 직무스트레스 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Assessment of Stress at Work between White and Blue Collar Workers in Shipyard)

  • In recent years, Korea's shipbuilding industry have expanded its business into offshore plant. These changes are increasing the interest on job stress in shipbuilding industry. The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences of job stressors between white and blue-collar workers. The survey was using Korean Occupational Stress Scale(KOSS) questionnaire and was administered to 8,080 workers of large shipyard company. As a result of the survey, compared with the median score of Korean workers, job stress level of shipyard company workers was low. However, seven categories of KOSS, except for job demand showed higher stress levels of blue-collar workers than white-collar workers. The overall stress level of shipyard company workers is low, however, it is important to find stressors by considering the type of work, working period etc., through a detailed analysis of KOSS 8-categories. The results of this study may be helpful to identify the level of stress and to establish preventive measures in Shipyard Company.

자동차산업 근로자의 직무스트레스와 근골격계질환 자각증상과의 연관성 (A Study on the Relationship between Job Stress and Subjective Symptoms Associated with Musculoskeletal Disorders of the Workers at Automobile Manufacturing Industry)

  • MSDs(Musculoskeletal Disorders) and Job Stress have been recognized as one of major problems in industry these days according to the results of most industrial health/safety studies. Specifically, MSDs have been growing problems in Korea as well as in US and European countries with higher incidence rate every year. This study tries to understand characteristics of job stress and association between MSDs and job stress for the workers at automobile manufacturing industry. This study also tries to understand the differences in terms of job stress between white collar and blue collar workers. The results showed that there was definite association between symptoms of MSDs and some of major job stress factors. However, there were big differences in terms of associations between two groups(white collar and blue collar workers). The first group(white collar workers) showed more associations between symptoms of MSDs and some of major job stress factors than that of the second group(blue collar workers) although symptom rate of the second group was higher than that of the first group. It could be concluded that symptoms of the first group had more effects from job stress while symptoms of the second group had more effects from typical job risk factors based on the results of the study.

재정적 압박과 전략정보 유무가 화이트칼라 범죄 의사결정에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Financial Pressure and Tit for tat Strategy on Decision Making in White-collar crime)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 화이트칼라 범죄의 의사결정 과정에 영향을 미치는 요인들이 무엇인지 살펴보고, 이 요인들의 유무에 따라서 의사결정의 합리성 정도에 차이가 나타나는지 실험을 통해 확인하고자 함이다. 본 연구의 실험은 피험자 간 설계로 재정적 압박 지시 유무와 Tit for tat 전략 정보 제공 유무에 따라서 조건별로 할당하였다. 실험 참가자들은 화이트칼라 직군에 근무하는 성인 102명으로, 화이트칼라 범죄 시나리오로 각색한 변형된 연속되는 죄수의 딜레마 상황에서 의사결정을 진행하고 이에 따른 점수를 획득하는 과정을 거쳤다. 획득 점수는 범죄를 저지를 위험성을 나타내며, 점수가 낮을수록 범죄에 참여할 위험성이 높음을 의미하였다. 연구 결과는 재정적 압박 지시 없이 전략 정보만 제공받은 집단이 범죄에 참여할 위험성이 가장 낮았으며, 재정적 압박 지시만 받고 전략 정보를 제공받지 않은 집단의 범죄 참여 위험성이 가장 높았다. 또, 재정적 압박 지시를 받은 집단은 전략 정보 제공과 관계없이 재정적 압박 지시를 받지 않은 집단보다 범죄 참여 위험성이 높았으나, 전략 정보를 제공받은 집단 중 재정적 압박 지시를 함께 받은 집단은 재정적 압박 지시와 전략 정보 제공을 둘 다 받지 않은 집단보다 범죄 참여 위험성이 높았다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구는 재정적 압박을 합법적으로 해소할 수 있는 방안의 필요성과 직장인을 대상으로 한 화이트칼라 범죄에 대한 교육의 필요성, 기업 내에서 독단적이지 않고 협력적이며 상호검증 가능한 의사결정 구조의 필요성을 제안하였다.

부산 경남지역 산업체급식소의 급식 평가 연구 -급식대상자를 중심으로- (Consumer's Perceptions of The Quality of Employee Foodservice in Pusan City and Kyeung Nam Provinces -By the Consumers' Characteristics-)

  • Consumer's perceptions of the qualities of food and food-related services were surveyed through questionnaires by 672 adults randomly selected from 20 industrial foodservice in Pusan and Kyeung Nam area. The results are as follows: 1) By age, the elderly group gaved the highest mean score not only for freshness and temperature among the food characteristics but also for cleanliness of dishes and materials of dishes among the food-related service. 2) By occupation, the white collar worker group gaved the highest mean score in all characteristics of food and food-related service than did the blue collar worker group. Especially for courtesy of employees, the mean rating given by the white collar worker group was 3.15/5.00, but by the blue collar worker group was 2.67/5.00. 3) Good appetitive group rated taste of food 3.15/5.00, quality of food vs. food price 3.17/5.00, and freshness 3.15/5.00. But poor appetitive group rated taste of food 2.44/5.00, quality of food vs. food price 2.65/5.00, and freshness 2.70/5.00. 4) Men agreed that the rice and soup were right in amount. And women responded that the rice was in a large amount and the soup was not enough. 5) The white collar worker group agreed that the rice, the soup, the side dish, and the kimchi were right in amount. However the blue collar worker group agreed that the rice was right in amount, the soup and the side dish were not enough, and the kimchi was in a large amount. For seasoning of food, the white collar worker group responded that the salty taste and the hotness were just right. But the blue collar worker group responded that the food was neither salty nor hot at all. 6) The taste of food was shown to be positively correlated (p<0.001) with various food item combinations, freshness of food, and the variety of cooking methods.

사무직 근로자와 육체 노동자의 요통특성에 관한 비교 고찰 (Comparative Study of Low Back Pain between White Collar Workers and Blue Collar Workers)

  • This study has been attempted to be helpful for the back rehabilization of Korean workers by analyzing the general, occupational, social aspects of low back pain and to identify possible risk factors for back pain in White and Blue collar workers. The primary data were collected from 380 workers in Seoul city by means of a Questionnaire with random which was distributed from March 10 to 31, 1990. For the test of statistical significance, chi-square analysis was used to compare the back pain characteristics between above two groups. The results were as follows : 1. The incidence of low back pain in all walkers studied was $79.7\%$. The incidence of Blue collar with low back pain $(87.2\%)$ was higher than that of White collars $(75.0\%)$. 2. With regard to the relationship of back pain to the occupational characteristics, statistically significant differences were observed between workers with and without back pain concerning the job factors on work-time, job satisfaction, mental stress, chair fittness, work posture, work rotation, weight lifting, monotonous repetitive movements, vibration, and heavy noise (p<0.05). 3. With regard to the relationship of back pain to the social characteristics, there were no differences with respect to having car, personality types, drinking habits, and leisure-time activities. However, significant differences were showed between no pain and pain groups for the using bed, sleeping posture, traffic time amount, walking health state, smoking habits, and physical exercise (p<0.05). 4. The comparative analysis of back pain related to work factors showed highly significant differences with respect to mental stress, chair fittness, work posture, trunk rotation, weight lifting, monotonous repetitive work in White collar group (p<0.01) ; and job satisfaction, mental stress, trunk rotation, weight lifting, monotonus repetitive work, exposure to vibration and heavy noise in Blue collar group(p<0.01). 5. The comparative analysis of social factors in two groups showed differences with respect to the using bed, sleeping posture, walking amount, health state, physical exercise, smoking habits in White cellar group (p<0.05) ; and walking amount, traffic time amount, health state, smoking habits, physical exercise in Blue cellar group (p<0.05). 6. In regard to the general aspects of back pain between two groups, there were differences concerning etiolgy of back pain, counselling partners, treatment types, and sick-leaves(p<0.05), except pain duration, and awareness of back pain.

Sclerotium rolfsii에 의한 미나리 흰비단병 발생 (Occurrence of the Collar Rot of Water Cress (Oenanthe javanicav) Caused by Sclerotium rolfsii)

  • 2000년 9월 상순경 경상남도 의령군 가례면 밭 미나리 재배포장에서 미나리 흰비단병(Sclerotium rolfsii)이 대발생하였다. 이 병의 병징은 미나리 줄기 절단부가 갈색으로 변하고 물러져 썩으며 그 위에 흰색의 곰팡이가 솜털처럼 밀생하고, 병발부위에 작은 갈색의 둥근 균핵을 형성하며 지제부 부근의 토양 표면에도 형성되었다. 균사의 폭은 $4.1{\sim}10.3{\mu}m$이고, 균사 생육적온은 $30^{\circ}C$에서 90.0 mm로 가장 잘 자랐으며 $5^{\circ}C$$45^{\circ}C$에서는 자라지 않았다. PDA 배지상에는 $20^{\circ}C$에서 균핵을 많이 형성하였다. 균총의 색깔은 흰색이며 clamp connection이 있는 것이 특징이다. 균핵의 모양은 구형이며 크기는 $1.0{\sim}6.3{\times}10{\sim}5.2mm$ (평균 $2.4{\sim}2.2mm$)이었다. 이 병원균을 Sclerotium rolfsii로 동정하였고, 미나리 흰비단병으로 명명할 것을 제안한다.

일 지역 사무직 근로자의 생활습관과 건강수준간의 관계 (The Relationship between Lifestyle and Health Status among White Collar Workers in a Community)

  • 본 연구는 일 지역 사무직 근로자의 생활습관과 건강수준을 알아보고 이들 간의 관계를 파악함으로써 사무직 근로자의 건강수준을 증진시키기 위한 중재 프로그램을 개발하는데 기초자료를 제공하고자 실시되었다. J시의 S대학교에 근무하는 사무직 근로자 199명을 대상으로 2012년 8월 7일부터 8월 24일까지 구조화된 설문지를 이용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 자료수집도구는 8문항으로 구성된 생활 습관과 건강수준을 측정하는 SF(Short-Form Health Survey)-36도구를 사용하였다. 연구결과 사무직 근로자의 생활습관은 건강수준(r= .164, p= .020)과 유의한 상관관계가 있으며 생활습관 중 여가활용(r= .270, p= .000)과 규칙적인 운동(r= .180, p= .011)은 건강수준의 정신건강 영역과 유의한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 사무직 근로자의 건강수준을 증진시키기 위해서는 올바른 생활습관의 실천을 강조하며 여가활동과 운동을 포함한 중재 전략이 마련되어야 할 것이다.
