  • This paper has interest in the effect of a fine frequency offset, defined in ITU-T G.225, to the training performance of an adaptive equalizer. This paper uses Hilbert filter in configuring a transmission system model in order to let it get a frequency offset. Also additive white Gaussian noise and band-limited filter are considered. The signal received from the above transmission system applies to an adaptive equalizer with LMS algorithm, and its training procedures are investigated. As a result, we could find that even small fine frequency offset can severely deteriorate training performance of adaptive algorithm.

  • Two-dimensional orthogonal variable spreading codes are presented far multiplexing of forward link in direct sequence code division multiple access(DS-CDMA) multiple antennas system. The bit error rate(BER) performance under a multi-user environment fur the additive white Gaussian noise(AWGN) channel and Rayleigh fading MIMO channel are evaluated. The results demonstrate that the proposed scheme could provide flexible rates and lower peak correlation values.

  • In order to analyze the rolling motion of a ship in random beam waves we use the partial stochastic linearization method. The quadratic damping and the nonlinear restoring moments given by the odd polynomials up to the 11th order are added to a single degree of freedom linear equation of roll motion. The irregular excitation moment is assumed to be the Gaussian white noise. The statistical characteristics of the response by the partial stochastic linearization method is compared with results by the equivalent linearization method and Monte Carlo simulation. It is fecund that the partial stochastic linearization method is not necessarily superior to the equivalent linearization method.

  • When the M-ary signal experiences the Rayleigh fading, the diversity schemes can reduce the effect of fading since the probability that all the signals components will fade simultaneously is reduced considerably. The symbol error probabilities for various M-ary signals, such as MDPSK(M-ary DPSK) and MPSK(M-ary PSK), are mathematically derived for the Selection Combining 2(SC-2) and Selection Combining 3(SC-3) demodulation system which requires a less complex receiver than Maximum Ratio Combining(MRC). The propagation model used in this paper is the frequency-nonselective slow Rayleigh fading channel corrupted by the Additive White Gaussian Noise(AWGN). The numerical results presented in this paper are expected to provide information for the design of radio system using M-ary modulation method for above mentioned channel environment.

  • This paper proposes a coding scheme of control channel for mobile packet communication to maximize the minimum Hamming distance, which is based on shifting of basis vectors of Reed Muller code with optimized dynamic puncturing and/or(partial) sequence repetition. Since the maximum likelihood decoding can be performed using the extremely simple FHT(Fast Hadamard Transformation), it is suitable for real time optimum decoding of control channel information with very little complexity. We show applications of the proposed coding method to TFCI(Transport Format Combination Indicator) code in split and normal modes of 3GPP W-CDMA system. We also discuss how this method can reduce rate indication error over AWGN(Additive White Gaussian Noise) as well as fading channels when the proposed coding scheme is applied to 1xEV-DV system of $3^{rd}$TEX> generation partnership project 2(3GPP2) to indicate the data rate transmitted on the reverse traffic channel by a Mobile Station(MS).

  • In this paper, we discuss the belief propagation decoding algorithm for polar codes. The performance of Polar codes for shorter lengths is not satisfactory. Motivated by this, we propose a novel technique to improve its performance at short lengths. We showed that the probability of messages passed along the factor graph of polar codes, can be increased by multiplying the current message of nodes with their previous message. This is like a feedback path in which the present signal is updated by multiplying with its previous signal. Thus the experimental results show that performance of belief propagation polar decoder can be improved using this proposed technique. Simulation results in binary-input additive white Gaussian noise channel (BI-AWGNC) show that the proposed belief propagation polar decoder can provide significant gain of 2 dB over the original belief propagation polar decoder with code rate 0.5 and code length 128 at the bit error rate (BER) of $10^{-4}$.

  • The first and second moments of response variables for SDOF systems with hysteretic nonlinearity are obtained by a direct linearization procedure. This adaptation in the implementation of well-known statistical linearization methods, provides concise, model-independent linearization coefficients that are well-suited for numerical solution. The method may be applied to systems which incorporate any hysteresis model governed by a differential constitutive equation, and may be used for zero or non-zero mean random vibration. The implementation eliminates the effort of analytically deriving specific linearization coefficients for new hysteresis models. In doing so, the procedure of stochastic analysis is made independent from the task of physical modeling of hysteretic systems. In this study, systems with three different hysteresis models are analyzed under various zero and non-zero mean Gaussian White noise inputs. Results are shown to be in agreement with previous linearization studies and Monte Carlo Simulation.

  • The line code for ISDN subscriber loops is a critical choice in designing U-interface transceiver, since it affects system performance in a crucial way. This paper provides the performance analysis of U-interface transceiver systems employing four different line codes AMI, MMS43, VMDB5, and 2B1Q. The codes are compared using computer simulation studies, and three performance parameters of the four codes such as power spectrum, eye width, and error probability are used for the comparison. The simulation model consists of the encoder, transmit filter (root-raised cosine filter), channel, receive filter, zero-forcing equalizer, sampler, and decoder. The near-end crosstalk and addive white gaussian noise are considered as teh principal impediments.

  • Recently, the use of TCP/IP protocols over wireless LANs poses significant problems. In this paper, we have analyzed transmission control protocol (TCP) packet transmission time for mobile IP over wireless local area networks (LANs) using a proposed a new random backoff scheme. We call it as a proxy backoff scheme. It is considered the transmission time of TCP packet on the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) in additive white gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. From the results, a proposed proxy backoff scheme produces a better performance than an original random backoff in mobile IP over wireless LANs environment. Also, in OFDM/quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) medium access control (MAC), we have obtained that the transmission time in wireless channel decreases as the TCP packet size increases.

RLS algorithms have better convergence characteristics than conventional algorithms, LMS (Least Mean Squares) algorithms.
