Medical technologies are gaining in importance because of scientific and technical progress in medicine and the increasing average lifetime of people. This has opened up a huge market for medical devices, where complex-shaped metallic parts made from biocompatible materials are in great demand. Today many of these components are already being manufactured by powder metallurgy technologies. This includes mass production of standard products and also customized components. In this paper some aspects related to metal injection molding of Ti and its alloys as well as modifications of microstructure and surface finish were discussed. The process chain of additive manufacturing (AM) was described and the current state of the art of AM processes like Selective Laser Melting and electron beam melting for medical applications was presented.

The science and technology park movement has been developing for over 60 years. The first developments simply relied on the co-location of tenant companies and the park's host to encourage technology transfer. This is in contrast with their modern counter parts which offer a range of active links between tenant companies and host organisations as well as a raft of business development services to support technology commercialisation. Many of these sites have also become important centres in regional innovation plans. In these cases they are supported by a range of local, regional and national policies that are aimed at establishing a business, technology and social environment which support innovation. The paper examines both the business development programmes developed by science and technology parks to support technology commercialisation and the macro conditions that are now being developed to support innovation.

We have been aware fer some time. that it is becoming harder to develop ASIC only, using the vendor wire model for the current top-down/bottom-up process. Because VDSM has a much bigger wired delay than cell delay, it is also difficult to reduce development time, as well as time-to-market, while developing several million gate ASIC's. The same is true for high frequency ASIC's with VDSM (which have larger wire delay versus cell delay). Therefore, a solution called “RTS-GDS”, using physical constraints fur SOC with timing met, is being actively discussed. This paper suggests a methodology for SOC development by utilizing a top down flow via CWLM along with discussing potential problems. This paper also provides a design flow, including physical synthesis, DFT, floor plan and CWLM, all of which are relevant to proper SOC development.

Recently, innovative medical services are fast emerging, which include customized medical services based on bio-informatics, composition of cure and well-being exploiting ubiquitous technology, hospital supply chain management using RFID, and so forth. However, conventional approaches for new service development hardly give us systematic model to analyze and produce creative medical services. Because most of them are static and concentrate on microscopic tools or techniques. Thus, it is highly desirable to suggest an integrative framework to organize the whole transformation process from technology to medical service. The objective of this study is to propose a medical service engineering model based on the dynamic innovation theory. The proposed model contains objectives of service system, strategies of hospital, stages, activities required to deal with medical service life cycle, which incorporates the acquisition of new technology, transformation to the product, penetration into market, and adoption of consumers. In addition, the usefulness and applicability of the newly proposed model are provided using catholic medical center example.

The objectives of the study were to analyze the current conditions of the“NONGCHON ILGAM GATCI”project (an income generating project for rural areas) and to suggest possible improvements. Among the 567 business which have been supported by the project, implemented in 1990 by the Department of Rural-Home-Improvement of the Rural Development Administration, 361 (63.7%) can be categorized as being in the self-supporting stage. Another 126 (22.2%) can be said to be in the incubation stage. Data for the case study was collected from 20 project sites. The“NONGCHON ILGAM GATCI”project has been progressing successfully when compared with other rural development projects. However, there are still some problems. Among the problems are the lack of a business mindset and management abilities in individuals, and the fact that the businesses and their products are not well hewn on the market. To remedy these problems, education toward improving business and management skills, a unified public relations system, and institutional support from the government are greatly needed.

As remodeling market is growing and peoples' concern on health and well-being is getting high, there is a need to apply environmentally friendly approach to remodeling an apartment houses. But, in point of the impact noise concerned, the thickness of the concrete slab and the limited ceiling height of the remodelling houses are the main constraints to improve the impact noise performance. In order to investigate the effect of the impact noise isolation as structural treatments for the structural elements, heavy-weight impact noise and tapping noise were measured in an remodeling building. As a result, structural strengthening method by H-beam was successful to enhance the impact noise level at about 3 or 4 class by the sound classification system.

Development of crops with high quality as well as various beneficial functions is necessary to satisfy consumers being interested in their health and to enhance a competitiveness in the international market of agricultural products. What we have achieved so far from our research on crop quality was not sufficient since we often neglected sensory feature of crop products such as eating quality but in many cases, we put more emphases on nutrient contents, physico-chemical properties, and out-appearing features of the products. Therefore developments of sensory elements and technique for evaluation with a priority given to eating quality of each of an individual crop are important and very urgent to be solved in Korea. An endeavor to develop bioactive crops is necessary and resonable but aspects of both productivity and economy with a special emphasis on the original purposes such as production of energy and nutrient for human life must be considered. The development of more concrete ideas for crop functionality is essential before any research goes further.

본 연구에서는 토지이용에 기반을 두는 새로운 교통사고 예측모형을 개발하였다. 다양한 지역의 특성을 반영할 수 있는 변수에 대한 시장분할 및 추가변수 도입을 토대로 Data Mining 기법의 하나인 의사나무결정법(Classification and Regression Tree)을 활용하여 새로운 유형별 교통사고 예측모형을 개발하였다. 분석결과를 살펴보면 주민등록인구수, 통근 등 활동변수와 활동의 대상이 되는 도로규모, 유발시설 등이 교통사고를 설명하는 변수로 도출되었다.

Currently, nanotechnology is widely applied in various industrial fields and is rapidly emerging as a promising future technology. In food industries, nanotechnology is used to enhance food quality and safety. Numerous cutting-edge studies on the advantages of nanotechnology have been conducted in the fields of food processing, food ingredients and additives, food packaging, and food engineering for optimal health. The market for these areas of research has grown steadily, and is expected to continue to do so. Because of this, R&D for nanotechnology that can be used effectively in food industries is being performed by several companies, as well as in academic research institutions around the world. This review describes the recent global R&D trends that have been in progress for two key areas: food processing and food packaging.

This paper economically analyzes the benefits and concerns of the sharing economy and derives policy implications that could help to achieve the expected benefits and respond appropriately to any concerns. Primary benefits anticipated from the sharing economy are the creation of new transactions and promotional and market testing opportunities, and the main concerns include the crowding out of existing transactions as well as transaction and social risks. How these benefits and concerns are being realized in Korea is empirically examined by conducting a survey on participation experiences with the sharing economy. The sharing economy is expected to contribute to the enhancement of social welfare with its wide range of benefits if risk factors can be properly controlled. Accordingly, an institutional framework is needed to support the stable growth of the sharing economy, and the unique characteristics of non-professional, peer-to-peer transactions should be reflected in tandem with regulatory equity between existing and sharing economy suppliers. To do this, transaction-volume-based regulations are recommended. Furthermore, to secure regulatory effectiveness and to alleviate transaction risks, the pertinent obligations must be imposed on sharing platforms.
