As increasing demand on marine structures and skyscrapers, a deep shaft pile foundation is more to be used for the place having weak ground strength. Because heavy horizontal force is generally applied on upper part of pile foundation used in civil or architectural construction, steel pile is largely used with its high resistance to shear force and bending moment, and its capability to carry heavy loads. The steel pile has advantage in good constructibility, high applicability on site and easy handing, but has disadvantage in cost, more expensive than other material pile. This study is about the Composite pile that makes economical construction possible by reducing material cost of pile; using steel and PHC pile simultaneously while preserving the advantage of steel pile that large resistance to horizontal force and bending moment. A Non Welding connection method is applied to this composite pile and this method could reduce the cost and period of construction and could increase the quality of construction by solving the problem of current welding method and by improving the workability of pile connection. In this study, characteristics of driveability of non welding composite pile is analyzed prior to main project while the purpose of main project is proving the applicability of Non Welding Composite Pile by conducting various kind of loading test to analyze the characteristics behaviour of Non Welding Composit Pile and by verifying stability of non welding connection pile.
Spot welding is one of the important welding processes for the construction of thin metal sheet. Because of low investment cost, alternating welding current is widely applied for power source. Direct current type could be, however, recommened for high quality weldment. In this study, the effect of welding current type on the weldability and the electrode life in spot welding of aluminium alloy were investigated. Various welding tests were done by using three phase direct and alternating welding current, respectively. In spite of high variation of welding force, weld quality and electrode life with alternating welding current were shown better results than those with direct current for 2mm thick alumininum alloy sheets. This was due to excessive erosion of the positive electrode in direct welding current compared with the negative one. On the contrary to 2mm sheets, the welding parameters of alternating current for 1mm sheets must be carefully selected.
Laser welding is suitable for welding to the aluminum alloy sheet. In order to apply the aluminum laser welding to production line, parameters should be optimized. In this study, the optimal welding condition was searched through the genetic algorithm in laser welding of AA5182 sheet with AA5356 filler wire. Second-order polynomial regression model to estimate the tensile strength model was developed using the laser power, welding speed and wire feed rate. Fitness function for showing the performance index was defined using the tensile strength, wire feed rate and welding speed which represent the weldability, product cost and productivity, respectively. The genetic algorithm searched the optimal welding condition that the wire feed rate was 2.7 m/min, the laser power was 4 kW and the welding speed was 7.95 m/min. At this welding condition, fitness function value was 137.1 and the estimated tensile strength was 282.2 $N/mm^2$.

General metal welding occurs distortion. Also, reducing distortion is required much cost. Therefore, the purpose of this study is optimization of welding conditions to reduce distortion in welding of monolithic rack housing for modular steering gear. Firstly, heat source for welding was chosen arc and laser. Secondly, it investigated optimizing welding conditions in bead welding by arc and laser heat source, and welding conditions in fillet welding was optimized with welding shapes. Finally, it was measured temperature distribution of welds by infrared camera and angle distortion in fillet welding. As a result, laser welding was superior to arc welding on distortion.
The optimization of the welding parameters was studied to maximize the weldability and minimize the amount of spatter in the MAG welding of automotive steel sheets under different shielding gas composition ratio. JS-EFSC, JS-SPHC steel plates and Ar mixture gases were used as a substrate and shielding gas for welding respectively. The five welding parameters were selected through preliminary experiments and their effects on the weldability were analyzed. Experiments were performed using the Taguchi experimental method. As results, appropriate range for welding could be achieved. Amount of spatter in 80%Ar+20%$CO_2$ shielding gas was 20% of that of $CO_2$welding. Therefore, in terms of high productivity and welding cost, Ar mixture gas(80%Ar+20%$CO_2$) was recommended as a shielding gas for application of MAG process, indicating the low spatter and good weld quality.

These days, shipbuilding companies are making an effort to adopt the IT technology in order to improve the production efficiency. One such effort is to utilize a planning and scheduling system to predict the production cost in advance. In this system, assessing the welding material quantity is an important factor. Unfortunately, obtaining the welding material quantity in the early design stage is extremely difficult because the detailed production information, which is essential in deriving the cost associated with welding, is normally available at a later stage. This paper aims at developing a computerized program that produces an index to estimate the welding material quantity in the early design stage. By using only three-dimensional geometric information, the program analyzes the production process and estimates the welding material quantity at any design or production stage when no production information is available. The results can be used for the planning and scheduling system.

Laser spot welding offers a unique combination of high speed. precision and low heat distortion, compared with conventional resistance spot welding. This combinatin of advantages is especially attractive for the automotive industry. Until now automobile fabrication is widely used resistance spot welding, however, because of geometric and structural problem, spot welding is required many welding machine in that reason by substituting spot welding with laser welding, it save the equipment cost. In the present study we measured ultimate strength and observed bead cross section of laser welded specimen and compared with that of the resistance spot welding results in order to adapt laser welding in automobile industry. Also for strength esti- mation we calculated the residual stress of laser welded zone. All calculations are performed with the ABAQUS code on a workstation.
The $CO_2$ welding with 100% $CO_2$ shielding gas is commonly used because of its cost and efficiency. Arc phenomena of the $CO_2$ welding is influenced by various factors such as chemical compositions of welding wire, shielding gas, welding condition and welding power source etc. In this study, arc phenomena is investigated by using two type of FCW(titania type, semi-metal type). Then, the welding quality and optimum welding condition can be selected. From this study, the following results were obtained; 1) In low current range(140A), FCW up to welding voltage(22V) resulted in a typical short circuit transfer. 2) In high current range(320A), the arc stability in titania FCW of a typical globular transfer is better than that of semi-metal FCW.
The purpose of this study is to reexamine our test method in the light ofstatistical methods for data interpretation. Our trial to apply Plackett-Burman statistical model in multifactorial welding experiments shows that is saves much time and cost and extracts very accurate results. In this study, the parametric effects of bead shape on pulse MIG process in Cu-Ni alloy are investigated for verifying our trial.
The friction stir welding technique is a derivative of conventional friction welding, which enables the advantages of solid-phase welding to be applied to the fabrication of long butt and lap joints, with very little postweld distortion. Friction stir welding is a remarkable new welding technique for joining aluminum alloys and has the potential for welding other ferrous materials. It has already been developed beyond a laboratory curiosity and has been proved as a potential practical welding technique offering low-distortion, high-quality, low-cost welds from simple concept machine tool welding equipment. To bring this remarkable method of welding aluminum alloys to the attention of Industry, this article introduces the basic principle of friction stir welding, pointing out the practical advantages and most important of all, describes the exceptionally good metallurgical and mechanical properties.
