  • In this study, the subframe of passenger car is developed by typical analysis and carsh simulations. According this results, energy absorption and barrier froce is very important to control passenger safety and deformation shape. For that purpose, it is most effective to absorb energy more tailor welded blanks(TWB) subframe than non-TWB. The subframe with TWB is simulated, in which reduced stamping parts, weight reduction and cost down.

  • Tailor-welded blanks are made of two or more different blanks in thickness or material. So car body with tailor-welded blanks need not reinforcement panels. However in order to make stamping tools for tailor-welded blanks, die engineers should know about the exact position of the welding line after the part is drawn. The necessity of knowledge about the position of welding line needs forming simulation methodology as a prior step in tooling. Therefor some parts of the simulation methodology are proposed and compared with the experimental results.

  • Large dynamic forces are generated between wheel and rail due to rail surface irregularities at rail welded part. The effects become more and more significant in the view of the present tendency to train speed increasing. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to derive useful guides for the effective and economical maintenance of rail welded parts through the wheel and rail interaction analyses. A typical shape for the irregularity of rail welded part is assumed to make the analysis quantitative. The effects of the irregularity depth and train speed on the train and track behaviors are investigated.

저온, 고압력용 강재 구조물의 용접부균열 발생과 그 대책에 관한 연구 (A study on the cracking mechanism of the welded parts in steel structures for the use of low temperature and high pressure)

  • When the low temperature service steels are used as materials for welded structure, some problems-brittleness and weld cracking, etc.-occur in welded part due to the change of mechanical and metallurgical characteristics resulted from the thermal cycle during the welding procedure. In this study, the experiments were conducted to investigate the change of mechanical and metallurgical characteristics of the welded part for the low temperature and high pressure service steels. Moreover, the Static and Dynamic Implant Test Method was introduced to this study in order to find out the mechnism of weld cracking. In addition, the fracture toughnesses of welded bond were inspected under the various low temperature environments. Main results obtained are as follows; 1) The effect of the hydrogen on the fatigue characteristics of the weld bond can be estimated by the new self-contrived Dynamic Implant Test equipment. 2) The fine micro-structure and low hardness in the heat affected zone can be obtained by the small heat input multi-pass welding. 3) The susceptibility of the delayed cracking is largely affected by the condition of used electrode. 4) The transition temperature of the fracture surface in weld bond appears to be higher 20 .deg. C than that in base metal.

레일 용접부의 경도와 마멸특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Hardness and Wear Characteristics of Welded Rails)

  • In this paper, thermite and gas pressure weldings have been used to join rails in-track and analyzed as functions of hardness and wear characteristics. The wear rate of thermite welded rail is low compared with that of gas pressure welded rail, which is tested in a pin-on-disk wear tester. The hardness of thermite welded materials is relatively high and narrowly distributed between three zones; welded part, thermally affected zone, and base matrix. Wear of a welded rail may be a major factor in railroad maintenance costs and failures at the rail-rail huh joint.

  • For the evaluation of a flaw in a welded stainless steel by the Time of Flight Diffraction(TOFD) Method, we have made the reference specimen for experimentation. As a result, we could analyze a specific character and the inner state of the structure in a welded stainless steel and we came to the conclusion as followed. (1) For analyze the structure state of a section in a welded stainless steel through the optical microscope, we could have analyzed the generated shape and the location of a flaw and the inner parts of the structure state through the microscope of eighty magnification and two hundred magnification about the soundness, the heat affected zone(HAZ) and the welded part. (2) Through the comparison with the shape and the size of a flaw in the welded part about the conventional ultrasonic test and the TOFD Method, we could make an observation the special character of the TOFD Method and principles. (3) We analyzed and collected the merit of the TOFD Method on the basis of the experimental result by the shape and the size of a flaw in the inner welded parts. So, we made up a base that we could use as a basic data for a similar flaw like that. Through the study as mentioned above, we could make an observation the flaw detective method and principles used in the TOFD Method.

레일용접부 피로수명 예측 (Prediction of bending fatigue lifes of rail welded parts)

  • This paper investigates about the prediction of rail bending fatigue lifes for the purpose of the effective maintenance of surface irregularities of rail welded parts. The rail bending stresses are calculated using a track dynamic analysis program. The rail surface irregularities measured in situ are given as inputs in the analyses. On the other hand, the S-N curves are derived based on the results of bending fatigue tests. Using data found so far, rail fatigue lifes are estimated adopting a modified Miner's rule. The useful guides for maintenance of rail welded part are proposed in terms of grinding period and grinding depth of rail surface irregularities.

  • In systematic and orderly estimation of fatigue strength of the spot welded lap joints, because the influence of residual stress of fatigue crach initiation and growth is not negligible, there need to estimate fatigue strength considered residual stress at near spot weld part of the lap joints. Therefore, in this thesis, peformed stress distribution and residual stress analysis at near the spot weld part by F.E.M and X-ray diffraction method, and obtained the maximum principal stress considered residual stress at nugget edge by superposing residual stress at nugget edge by superposing their results. From the results obtained above, we could find that fatigue strength of the IB-type spot welded lap joints was rearranged by the maximum principal stress considered residual stress at nugget edge and was entirely low about 13 percents compare with that neglected residual stress.
