정상 식이 수컷 흰쥐에서 흑삼이 체중 및 지질에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Black Ginseng on Body Weight and Lipid Profiles in Male Rats Fed Normal Diets)

  • Previously we have reported that black ginseng was produced by nine-time repeated steaming 5-year fresh ginsengs at 95${\circ}$C for 3hr in pottery apparatus and drying at 60${\circ}$C for 12${\sim}$36 hr and had an outstanding anticancer activity. This study was designed to examine the ability of black ginseng to suppress body weight gain appetite, and to investigate the effect of black ginseng on lipid profile in male rats fed normal diets. The extract of black ginseng was administered daily for 3 weeks, and the changes of body weight and food intake were measured. After administering the extracts for 3 weeks, the fat weight and serum lipid levels were also measured. Black ginseng persistently suppressed weigh gain and food intake was also reduced, but not significantly; The weight of both epididymal and abdominal fats was decreased In black ginseng-treated rats. Serum triglyceride level in rats administered with black ginseng was also significantly lowered. Therefore, these results reveal that the repeated administration of black ginseng causes a suppression of body weigh gain by decreasing triglyceride level in blood and body fat deposit.

대전지역 임신부의 식이 섭취 및 심리적 스트레스와 신생아 체중에 관한 연구 (Dietary Intakes and Psychological Stress Pregnant Women in Taejon in Relation to Neonatal Birth Weigh)

  • Thin study measured dietary intakes in late pregnancy and psychological stress during the period of gestation and examined the roles of diet and psychological stress in pregnancy weight gain and infant birth weight. Study subjects were 98 pregnant women who delivered infants at 2 general hospitals in Taejon city. Mean weight gain during pregnancy was 14.6$\pm$4.89Kg. Mean infant birth weight was 3.39$\pm$0.62kg in males and 3.28$\pm$0.43Kg in females. Mean energy and protein intake levels were adequate, but mean iron and calcium intakes were only 61.2$\pm$14.9% and 79.1$\pm$18.2$\%$ of RDA, respectively. Fat intake which constitutes 22.0$\pm$4.3$\%$ of total energy intake, and animal protein intake which constitutes 22.0$\pm$4.3$\%$ of total energy intake, and animal protein intake which constitutes 53.7$\%$ of total protein intake were moderately high. Though mean energy, fat, animal protein, and meat protein intakes in the low psychological stress group were higher than those in the middle or high stress group, psychological stress did not significantly affect pregnancy weight gain and infant birth weight. High intakes of nutrients except for dairy protein, iron, and niacin were associated with higher pregnancy weight gain and high intakes of protein and meat protein were associated with higher infant birth weight. It is concluded that dietary intakes during pregnancy has effects on pregnancy weight gain and infant birth weight, and psychological stress has no direct effect on them.

고에너지 사료 내 항생제와 효모제의 첨가가 육계의 생산성, 혈액 성상 및 도체 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Antibiotic and Yeast Supplemental High Energy Diet on Growth Performance, Blood Characteristics and Carcass Trait in Broilers)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 고에너지 사료 내 항생제와 효모제의 첨가가 육계의 생산성, 혈액 성상 및 도체 특성에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 실시하였다. 2일령 Arbor Acre broiler (male, female) 480수를 공시하였고, 사양 시험은 5주간 실시하였다. 시험사료는 옥수수-대두박 위주의 사료인 대조구(CON; basal diet), 고에너지 사료 처리구(HED; high energy diet), 효모제 사료 처리구(YD; HED without virginiamycin + 0.2% Saccharomyces cerevisiae, $15{\times}10^{10}$)로 3개 처리를 하여 처리당 8반복, 반복당 20수씩 완전 임의 배치하였다. 전체 사양 시험 기간동안 증체량은 고에너지 사료를 급여한 HED 처리구가 다른 처리구들에 비해 높은 경향을 보였으나, 처리구간에 유의적인 차이는 없었다. 사료 섭취량은 효모제 사료를 급여한 YD 처리구가 다른 처리구들에 비해 높은 경향을 보였으나, 처리구간에 유의적인 차이는 없었다. 사료 요구율에서는 고 에너지 사료를 급여한 HED 처리구가 다른 처리구들에 비해 유의적으로 낮게 나타났다(P<0.05). RBC(red blood cell), WBC (white blood cell), lymphocyte 모두 처리구간에 유의적인 차이는 없었으며, 간 무게 및 생체중에 대한 간 무게 비율, 허벅지육 무게 및 생체중에 대한 허벅지육 비율, 가슴육 무게 및 생체중에 대한 가슴육 무게 비율, 복강 지방 무게 및 생체중에 대한 복강 지방 무게 비율 모두에서 유의적인 차이가 없었으나, 종료시 체중에서는 HED 처리구가 유의적으로 가장 높았으며, 다음으로 YD, CON 순이었다(P<0.05). 결론적으로, 고에너지 사료 처리구가 사료 요구율에서 유의적으로 가장 영향을 미쳤으며, 효모제 처리구는 CON 처리구와 많은 차이를 보이지 않았다.

생균제와 아미노산을 함유한 깔짚첨가제가 오리 증체량과 계사내 암모니아 저감에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Poultry Litter Additives Containing Amino Acids and Probiotics on Duck Body Weight and Ammonia Contents in Duck Facilities)

  • This study investigated the effect of adding poultry litter additive containing probiotics and amino acids to the litter on weight gain in ducks and ammonia content in poultry litter. Nine hundred 1-day-old ducks (Pekin) were randomly distributed into three groups (300 birds per treatment divided into three replicates) using a randomized block design. Treatments were top-dressed on the litter surface at rates of 2 kg poultry litter additives (T1) and 2 kg macsumsuk (T2) per m2, and untreated poultry litter was used as the control. Overall, a significant difference (p<0.05) in weight gains was observed at 3 and 4 weeks, but not at 5 and 6 weeks. After 4 weeks, when compared to other treatments, the addition of poultry litter additive tended to increase the average body weight gain (90-130 g). The ammonia content was affected by all treatments (p<0.05) over time except at 3 weeks, however, compared to other treatments, the poultry litter additive decreased the ammonia content. In particular, the rate of ammonia reduction by the poultry litter additives over time was approximately 20.2%-49.2%. Regarding temperature, a significant difference was observed in all treatment groups (p<0.05), except at 3 weeks. In conclusion, considering poultry litter additives and temperature, the increase in duck weight gain was associated with a decrease in ammonia content in the poultry litter.

빨간유글레나, Euglena rubra 건조분말의 사료첨가에 따른 나일틸라피아, Oreochromis niloticus에서의 영향 (Effects of feeding of dried Euglena rubra on Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus)

  • To examine the effects of Euglena rubra (E. rubra) feeding on Nile tiapia, Oreochromis niloticus were fed diets containing dried powder of E. rubra at 0.5 or 2% for 4 weeks. Growth, selected hematological and non-specific immune parameters were assessed at 2 and 4 weeks. There were no significant changes in body weigh gain and erythrocyte levels. However a significant and diet E. rubra level-related decrease in leukocyte level was noted. Significant increases were observed in respiratory burst activity (nitroblue tetrazolium reduction) and lysozyme activities following E. rubra feeding. These results indicate that E. rubra could be beneficial to fish, but excess feeding could toxic.

Focus Group Interview (FGI)를 통한 다차원적 감각 특성 용어 및 정의의 질적 도출 (Qualitative Elicitation of Multidimensional Korean Sensory Descriptors and Their Definitions Using Focus Group Interview)

  • Recently, food industries are increasingly interested in launching ethnic foods in the global market, but communicating sensory information to target consumers has been complicated due to the ambiguity and complexity of Korean sensory descriptors. This study was conducted to elicit various multidimensional sensory descriptors and their definitions using focus group interviews (FGI). Two consumer groups, consisting of 10 panelists in their 20s and 10 panelists in their 30-40s respectively, participated in the FGI. A total of 14 commonly used multidimensional sensory descriptors, including gamchilmat (감칠맛), gaeun (개운), goso (고소), gusu (구수), kkal-kkeum (깔끔), neu-kki (느끼), dambaek (담백), birin (비린), siwon (시원), sikeum (시큼), ssapssarae (쌉싸래), eolkeun (얼큰), jjapjoreum (짭조름), and kalkal (칼칼), were elicited. Their definitions showed that these descriptors not only were constructed using several sensory elements but also contained hedonic connotations. Descriptors such as gaeun, siwon, and kkal-kkeum were more closely associated with overall sensory impressions, including aftersensations and post-ingestive effects rather than sensory concepts. As individuals tend to weigh different elements to construct the concept for each multidimensional descriptor, further studies are required to identify elements consisting of these descriptors to develop better test methods and gain a clearer understanding of the sensory profiles of Korean foods.

AN INVESTIGATION OF IMMUNIZATION AGAINST SOMATOSTATIN BY MEASURING GROWTH AND CARCASS PARAMETERS IN GILTS

  • To investigate the effects of immunization against somatostatin (SRIF) on growth rate, feed efficiency and carcass quality; forth-eight Yorkshire gilts ($age=37.5{\pm}4.3d,\;wt=8.2{\pm}1.6kg$) were randomly assigned to one of the following three treatments (1) control, (2) bovine serum albumin (BSA) and (3) SRIF. Cyclic SRIF was conjugated to BSA as the antigen containing 1 mg of SRIF diluted in 3 ml of saline. The conjugate was injected subsutaneously together with bacterial cell protein (BP) adjuvant on both sides of the neck of each gilt as the initial injection with three subsequent booster injections. Throughout the experiment all pigs were fed ad libitum a corn-soy diet containing 20% protein. Body weight and feed intake were measured on a weekly basis. All pigs in the experiment were slaughtered when they approached 101 kg body weight on the weekly weigh day. After slaughter, carcass parameters were analyzed to assess carcass quality. Results revealed that there were no differences among SRIF, BSA and control treatments for average daily gain, feed efficiency and feed intake during the first 5 wk of the experiment and from 6 wk to slaughter. The results for carcass analysis indicated that active immunization against SRIF had no effect on fat content, lean yield, water content and Canadian carcass index These data, collectively, suggest that the protocol employed in the present investigation for active immunization against SRIF is not an effective method for the enhancement of pig growth and improvement of feed efficiency and carcass quality.

Effect of Dietary Vitamin E on Growth Performance and Immune Response of Breeder Chickens

  • The effect of dietary vitamin E supplementation on immune responses was studied in breeder chickens during the maturing period. In experiment 1, 17-week old female birds were fed corn-soybean meal based diets supplemented with either 0, 40, 80, 120, or 160 mg vitamin E (all-rac-${\alpha}$-tocopherol acetate)/kg diet for 19 weeks. In experiment 2, 23-week old male birds were fed the corn-soybean meal based diet supplemented with either 0, 20, 40, 80 or 160 mg vitamin E/kg diet for 8 weeks. The chickens were evaluated for growth performance, antibody titer to sheep red blood cell (SRBC), Newcastle disease virus (NDV), infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) and infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), and skin response to phytohemagglutinin-P (PHA-P). The results showed that supplemental vitamin E improved body weigh gain of laying pullets during peak-laying period but had no significant effect on growth performance of cockerels. For cockerels, addition of 20 mg vitamin E/kg diet significantly enhanced (p<0.05) immune response to SRBC compared to those added with 0, 80 and 160 mg vitamin E/kg diet; addition of 20 mg vitamin E/kg diet had higher (p<0.01) antibody titer to IBDV than those added with 40-160 mg vitamin E/kg diet. No significant effects on immune response were observed in laying pullets fed supplemental vitamin E. The findings suggest that moderate supplementation of vitamin E may enhance immune responses to selective antigens in cockerels but excessive vitamin E may depress specific immune response.

비만 생쥐모델의 폐약(肺弱)을 유발하기 위한 Bleomycin의 농도 결정 연구 (A Study on Concentration of Bleomycin to Induce Lung Fibrosis in Obese Animal Model)

  • Objectives : The objectives of this study is to develop a mouse model similar to Taeeum-type by inducing Lung fibrosis with bleomycin, and to determine adequate concentration of bleomycin. Methods : The subjects were divided into six groups: normal, obesity induced group, and bleomycin administered 0.015U, 0.03U, 0.06U, and 0.09U(U/100g bw) concentrations respectively. Each concentration of bleomycin was dissolved in distilled water, and administered through Intra-Nazal-Trachea injection method. Food intake and body weight were measured at regular time weekly. At the end of the experiment, blood was gathered by cardiac puncture for biochemical examinations, organs were removed for histological examinations, and weigh and mRNA genes was analyzed. Result : Mice administered with bleomycin at 0.015U and 0.03U showed body and fat weight gain, and increased blood total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, glucose, and free fatty acid level. Fat related genes also showed higher level than the control group. Obesity was most strongly induced in the mice administered with 0.03U of bleomycin. On the other hand, when bleomycin was administered at concentrations above 0.06U, a model of obesity mouse was not created due to rapid emphysema inflammation and weakness. Conclusions : Mice were most vulnerable to obesity when bleomycin was administered at a concentration of 0.3 to cause liver damage. Bleomycin concentration over 0.06U did not cause obesity-induced mice, due to severe damage in liver.

A Method for Generating Malware Countermeasure Samples Based on Pixel Attention Mechanism

  • With information technology's rapid development, the Internet faces serious security problems. Studies have shown that malware has become a primary means of attacking the Internet. Therefore, adversarial samples have become a vital breakthrough point for studying malware. By studying adversarial samples, we can gain insights into the behavior and characteristics of malware, evaluate the performance of existing detectors in the face of deceptive samples, and help to discover vulnerabilities and improve detection methods for better performance. However, existing adversarial sample generation methods still need help regarding escape effectiveness and mobility. For instance, researchers have attempted to incorporate perturbation methods like Fast Gradient Sign Method (FGSM), Projected Gradient Descent (PGD), and others into adversarial samples to obfuscate detectors. However, these methods are only effective in specific environments and yield limited evasion effectiveness. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes a malware adversarial sample generation method (PixGAN) based on the pixel attention mechanism, which aims to improve adversarial samples' escape effect and mobility. The method transforms malware into grey-scale images and introduces the pixel attention mechanism in the Deep Convolution Generative Adversarial Networks (DCGAN) model to weigh the critical pixels in the grey-scale map, which improves the modeling ability of the generator and discriminator, thus enhancing the escape effect and mobility of the adversarial samples. The escape rate (ASR) is used as an evaluation index of the quality of the adversarial samples. The experimental results show that the adversarial samples generated by PixGAN achieve escape rates of 97%, 94%, 35%, 39%, and 43% on the Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Convolutional Neural Network and Recurrent Neural Network (CNN_RNN), and Convolutional Neural Network and Long Short Term Memory (CNN_LSTM) algorithmic detectors, respectively.
