쐐기형 레일 클램프에서 조(jaw)의 회전을 방지하기 위한 적정 쐐기각에 대한 연구 (A Study on Wedge Angles of Wedge-type Rail Clamp for Preventing Jaw from Rotating)

  • 항만에서 작동중인 컨테이너 크레인에 갑작스러운 돌풍에 의해 크레인이 밀리는 현상을 방지하기 위한 안전장치로 레일 클램프가 적용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 레일 클램프 중에서 특히 레일의 손상과 레일 클램프 수명을 향상시킬 수 있는 쐐기형 레일 클램프을 제작하기 위한 기초 설계에 관한 연구를 수행하였다. 특히, 조의 회전을 방지하고 적절한 가압력을 발휘할 수 있는 쐐기각을 설정하기 위해, 우선조의 설계 치수와 회전력의 관계에 대한 하중분석을 수행하고, 여기에서 최대 쐐기각을 도출하고, 이후 수치 해석을 통한 강성도 분석을 통하여 최소 쐐기각 $6^{\circ}$를 제안한다. 또한, 제작된 레일 클램프를 통한 실험으로 검증하였다.

A Novel Skewed-Type Iron Slot Wedge for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generators for Improving Output Power and Reducing Cogging Torque

  • This paper proposes a novel skewed-type iron slot wedge that can improve both the cogging torque and the output power of a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). Generally the open slot structure is adopted in a PMSG due to its convenient winding work, but the high cogging torque is undesired. Firstly, an iron slot wedge was utilized to reduce the cogging torque of an open slot type PMSG. However, the output power of the machine decreased rapidly with this method. Thus, a proposed skewed type iron slot wedge is presented to improve the output power as well as the cogging torque as compared to the open slot type. Shape optimization of the skewed-type iron slot wedge is performed to simultaneously maximize the output power and reduce the cogging torque. The Kriging model based on the Halton sequence method and a genetic algorithm are used to optimize the design.

새로운 방식의 나사형 인공디스크 고정체 해석 (Finite Element Analysis of a Newly Designed Screw Type Fixture for an Artificial Intervertebral Disc)

  • The various total replacement artificial discs have developed because spinal fusion has shown a lesser mobility of an operated segment and an accelerated degeneration at adjacent discs. But almost artificial discs have not yet been reached on the substitute surgery of fusion because many problems such as those clinical success rates were not more than them of fusion have not solved. In this paper, vertically inserted assemble-screw fixture in vertebrae was proposed to improve the fixed capability of artificial disc. And also, to evaluate the design suitability of newly designed screw-type, including fixtures of commercial discs such as wedge and plate type, the 1/4 finite element model with a vertebra and various implanted fixtures were generated, and next, 3 bending motions such as flexion, bending and twisting under the moment of 10Nm and compression under the force of 1000N were considered, respectively and finally, FE analyses were performed. Results of three fixture types were compared, such as Range of Motion and maximal stress, and so on. For ROM, the screw type was average 58% less than the wedge type and was average 42% less than the plate type under all loading conditions. For average stress ratio at closer nodes between vertebra and each fixture, the wedge type was the lowest as minimum 0.02 in twisting, screw types were the highest as maximum 0.28 in compression. As the results of using cement material, it was predicted that the instability problem of the wedge type was better solved. The screw type which could be increased by implanting depth according to the number of assembling mid screws, showed that the decreased tendency of ROMs and maximal cancellous bone stresses. In further study, controlling the number of assembling screws that was suitable for a patient's bone quality, development of surgical tools and keeping on design supplementations, which will be able to develop the competitive artificial disc.

고정 감속비트랙션 드라이브의 압부력 발생장치에 대한 연구 (Study on a loading mechanism for fixed ratio traction drives)

  • A novel loading mechanism of wedge roller type has been developed. This type traction drive has long system life and high efficiency by changing the pre-load on a contact point. And this loading mechanism does not need precision machining. So it has, as opposed to the conventional loading mechanism, an advantage in saving manufacturing cost. In this paper, by analyzing pre-load generating mechanism, spring pre-load and the roller size are defined and the stress on the contact point by pre-load is calculated. On the basis of this analysis, the model of wedge roller type traction drive for the test is made and was carried out its performance test. It can transmit input torque up to 1.5 N m, with high efficiency over 91% up to 98%, with slip rate under 2.5%.

  • This paper suggests the slot wedge shape for reducing the cogging torque of a direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous generator for a bike. To consider easy coil winding, we applied a structure of open slot for the permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). Because the cogging torque of PWSG with the open slot is very large, we are designed the appropriate specifications of the PMSG by selected the appropriate material of slot wedge and various slot wedge shapes. The prototype model is selected by design theory for reducing cogging torque and maximizing efficiency of PMSG. And the detailed structure design of the model was designed by the loading distribution method. The PMSG models were analyzed by finite element method. Finally, we have suggested appropriate material of slot wedges and its shape which has benefit to further reducing cogging torque and preventing decreasing of the generating power.

50노트급 활주형선의 저항성능 개선을 위한 부가물 부착에 관한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study on the improvement of resistance performance by appendage for 50 knots class planing hull form)

  • A series of model tests carried out at the CWC of WJFEL for the purpose of prediction of resistance for the performance and improvement of resistance by attaching appendage for the ship of 50 knots class planing hull. The resistance performance evaluation has been carried out for the bare hull and for the appendage hull with two different depth of vertical type wedges. In the bare model test, trim and sinkage is calculated for the planing hull and the resistance is calculated. For minimizing the resistance, wedge appendage is attached and tested. Analysis and tests shows that for a 12.5mm wedge, resistance is minimum and overall power tallied to 5636ps.

Evaluation of failure mode of tunnel-type anchorage for a suspension bridge via scaled model tests and image processing

  • In this study, the pull-out behavior of a tunnel-type anchorage for suspension bridges was investigated using experimental tests and image processing analyses. The study focused on evaluating the initial failure behavior and failure mode of the tunnel-type anchorage. In order to evaluate the failure mode of tunnel-type anchorage, a series of scaled model tests were conducted based on the prototype anchorage of the Ulsan Grand Bridge. In the model tests, the anchorage body and surrounding rocks were fabricated using a gypsum mixture. The pull-out behavior was investigated under plane strain conditions. The results of the model tests demonstrate that the tunnel-type anchorage underwent a wedge-shaped failure. In addition, the failure mode changed according to the differences in the physical properties of the surrounding rock and the anchorage body and the size of the anchor plate. The size of the anchor plate was found to be an important parameter that determines the failure mode. However, the difference in physical properties between the surrounding rock and the anchorage body did not affect its size. In addition, this study analyzed the initial failure behavior of the tunnel-type anchorage through image analysis and confirmed that the failure was sequentially transferred from the inside of the tunnel to the surrounding rock according to the image analysis. The reasonable failure mode for the design of the tunnel-type anchorage should be wedge-type rather than pull-out type.

쐐기형 모형선 주위 연속 쇄빙과정에 관한 입자 기반 수치 시뮬레이션 (Particle-based Numerical Simulation of Continuous Ice Breaking Process around Wedge-type Model Ship)

  • This paper covers the development of prediction techniques for ice load on ice-breakers operating in continuous ice-breaking under level ice conditions using particle-based continuum mechanics. Ice is assumed to be a linear elastic material until the fracture occurs. The maximum normal stress theory is used for the criterion of fracture. The location of the crack can be expressed using a local scalar function consisting of the gradient of the first principal stress and the corresponding eigen-vector. This expression is used to determine the relative position of particle pair to the new crack. The Hertz contact model is introduced to consider the collisions between ice fragments and the collisions between hull and ice fragments. In order to verify the developed technique, the simulation results for the three-point bending problems of ice-specimen and the continuous ice-breaking problem around a wedge-type model ship with bow angle of 20° are compared with the experimental results carrying out at Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO).

균질화기법을 이용한 치과 임플란트 시스템의 응력해석 (Improved stress analyses of dental systems implant by homogenization technique)

  • Homogenization technique is employed to investigate the series of stress analyses of mandible for three different types of dental implants. This technique helps to make proper material model of bone and analyze such a non homogeneous structure at the level of individual microstructural unit. The stress analyses with homogenization technique show much higher stress level in the sponge bone, compared to those of conventional FEM. It also manifested that even a minor lateral force results in crucial stresses in the dental implant system and that the macroscale model should take the shape and size after real mandible to produce reasonable solution in the analyses of dental implant systems. The shapes of dental implants simulated in this study are rectangular-cross-sectioned type, hemi-sphere rooted type, and wedge type implant. The stress states of mandible with hemisphere rooted type implant and wedge type implant show similar levels, while those with sectioned rectangular implant results in higher stresses. It is suggested that the distance between the implant tip and cortical bone be kept far enough to prevent stress concentrations in the mandible.

모형실험 및 수치 시뮬레이션을 이용한 쌍동형 준설선의 선형 설계에 관한 연구 (Hull Form Design of Catamaran Type Dredging Vessel Using Model Test and Numerical Simulation)

  • To develope a hull form of catamaran type dredging vessel, resistance characteristics is investigated to find the interaction effect of waves between the two hulls. Re fore body shape is simplified as two dimensional wedge shape for the maintenance and disassembly/assembly. Based on MAC method, numerical simulation is performed in staggered variable mesh system. Re conservation form of Euler equations and continuity equation are applied as governing equations. To verify numerical methods, the wive patterns along the hull surface are compared with the results of model tests. This study is performed as varying wedge shape of the bow and the distance between the two hulls. The wave interaction between two hulls are observed to investigate the relation the resistance performance and the flow characteristics. Suitable hull form and distance between two hulls are discussed.
