The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of restorative materials on the marginal leakage of wedge-shaped class V cavity. The study was performed in vitro in 25 defect-free permanent, extracted teeth. Wedge-shaped class V cavities were prepared and then the teeth were randomly selected and restored according to the following. Group A : restoration with Tetric Ceram(composite resin) Group B : restoration with Tetric flow(flowable resin) Group C : restoration with Compoglass after acid etching(compomer) Group D : restoration with Compoglass(compomer) Group E : restoration with Fuji II LC improved(resin-modified GIC) After thermocycling, the specimens were immersed in 5% basic fuchsin solution for 6 hours and sectioned longitudinally through the center of the restoration. The degree of marginal leakage was measured as the extent of dye penetration under the stereomicroscope. The data were analysed using one-way ANOVA. When significant differences found, multiple comparisons were made using Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results were as follows: 1. The occlusal margins of all groups except for Fuji II LC improved showed lesser leakage than gingival margins and there was statistically significant difference(p<0.05). 2. At the occlusal margins, group A, B showed same marginal leakage scores, and others were decreased as group C, D, E in that order. There were statistically significant difference between group A, Band group D, E, group C and group E(p<0.05). 3. At the gingival margins, group B, C showed same marginal leakage scores, and others were decreased as group A, D, E in that order. But there was statistically significant difference between group B, C and group E(p<0.05). 4. In the Compoglass restoration, acid-etching technique was beneficial for marginal sealing ability at all of margins. But there was no statistically significant difference (p>0.05). In the restorations for wedge-shaped class V cavities, resin restoration with acid etching technique is recommended.

Background: The standard operative treatment of primary spontaneous pneumothorax (PSP) is thoracoscopic wedge resection, but necessity of pleurodesis still remains controversial. Nevertheless, pleural procedure after wedge resection such as pleurodesis has been performed in some patients who need an extremely low recurrence rate. Materials and Methods: From January 2000 to July 2010, 207 patients who had undergone thoracoscopic wedge resection and pleurodesis were enrolled in this study. All patients were divided into two groups according to the methods of pleurodesis; apical parietal pleurectomy (group A) and pleural abrasion (group B). The recurrence after surgery had been checked by reviewing medical record through follow-up in ambulatory care clinic or calling to the patients, directly until January 2011. Results: Of the 207 patients, the recurrence rate of group A and B was 9.1% and 12.8%, respectively and there was a significant difference (p=0.01, Cox's proportional hazard model). There was no significant difference in age, gender, smoking status, and body mass index between two groups. Conclusion: This study suggests that the risk of recurrence after surgery in PSP is significantly low in patients who underwent thoracoscopic wedge resection with parietal pleurectomy than pleural abrasion.

In this study, in order to design a wedge-type anchor that can hold an wide carbon plate with a width of 100 mm or more that can be used in a bridge structure, the mechanical behaviors are evaluated based on the main design variables such as the angle of the wedge and the coefficient of friction between the guide and the wedge. The stress state of the carbon plate was calculated by numerical analysis method for each design variable, and the performance of the anchor in the critical state was evaluated according to the failure criteria for composite material, and the optimal design specifications of the anchor were determined based on numerical results. The performance of the optimally designed anchor was verified through actual experiments, and the results of this study are considered to be useful for the optimal design of the CFRP plate anchor to reinforce large structures.
The purpose of this study is to present objective information in applying 3D printing technology for PET/CT (Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography) performance evaluation and use it as a basic research that can be applied to various purposes in the future. Phantoms were manufactured with step wedge of ABS(Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) and ACR(Acrylic acid) material. The counts for each ROI(Region of Interest) were analyzed through image acquisition in PET/CT. And the variation rate of counts and CNR(Contrast Noise Ratio) was evaluated. In the counts analysis, the effect of thickness occurred. In addition, in the variation rate analysis, the thickness setting of steps wedge 4 to 5 levels should be considered first. These results minimize quantitative and qualitative changes in the phantom manufactured based on 3D printing, and enable more stable PET/CT performance evaluation. Based on 3D printing in PET/CT, various phantoms are expected to be produced in the future. If the characteristics of each material are considered and applied through the basic research such as this research, the result of the phantom manufactured through 3D printing can be more meaningful and will be used in a wide range.
I.objective The composition method with acquiring 2${\sim}$5 image not only lack perfection in compensating the geometrical distortion but could also cause inaccurate connection problem of compensating the geometrical distortion but could also cause inaccurate connection problem of continuing bone structure due to the enlargement ratio difference of ruller and bone, density difference in image composition process. This paper studies those mentioned problems through the experiments. II. Object and method Experiment 1 After attaching 3 step wedge(Pb) on detector and 2 ruller on upper, lower part of the step wedge, we have exposed them to create density difference between 1st image and 2nd image, then examined if there were any errors. Experiment 2 1st 100cm ruller was attached on the center of detector, and by escalating the distance between 2nd 100cm ruller and detector 5cm, 10cm, 15cm respectively, we investigated if there any errors caused by enlargement ratio. Experiment 3 The ruller was placed on detector, a joint photographing was performed through spot photographing after fully operating the electric field photographing to include hip joint ${\sim}$ ankle joint part and we have compared the values from two methods. III. Result : A horizontal axis error was caused when photopraphing is not poerated in equal density since the image shifted horizontally in accordance with the difference of Pb step wedge 1 due to the density difference, as the result of Epperiment 1.
Calculating the seismic displacement of retaining walls has an important role in the optimum design of these structures. Also, studying the effect of surcharge is important for the calculation of active pressure as well as permanent displacements of the wall. In this regard, some researchers have investigated active pressure; but, unfortunately, there are few investigations on the seismic displacement of retaining walls with surcharge. In this research, using limit analysis and upper bound theorem, permanent seismic displacement of retaining walls with surcharge was analyzed for sliding and overturning failure mechanisms. Thus, a new formulation was presented for calculating yield acceleration, critical angle of failure wedge, and permanent displacement of retaining walls with surcharge. Also, effects of surcharge, its location and other factors such as height of the wall and internal friction angle of soil on the amount of seismic displacements were investigated. Finally, designing charts were presented for calculating yield acceleration coefficient and angle of failure wedge.
To apply Magnetic wedges to the motor, comparing with not applying, showes its performance change of efficiency increse, reduction of temperature rise, harmonics, and magnetic noise. The motor specification and test condition are 37kW-4P-380V-60Hz,squirrel-cage, three phase induction motor with semiclosed type slots. The result of load test to compare with nonmagnetic wedges showed 1.5% increment of efficiency at 100% load and $8.0^{\circ}C$ decrement of temperature rise at stator coil. And for developing the magnetic wedge matrial, its manufacturing process was setting and TG-DTA, optical microscope, SEM, bending strength and permeability were investigated into the material made of through the process.

Magnetic and magneto-optical properties of Fe/Pt/Fe, Co/Pd/Co trilayers and also the sandwiches with wedge-shaped magnetic (Fe, Co) and nonmagnetic (Pt, Pd) layers were investigated. The oscillatory behavior of the saturation field $H_{s}$ of the studied trilayers with changing the thickness of the nonmagnetic layer (NML) $t_{NML}$ was revealed. That was explained by the exchange coupling between ferromagnetic layers (FML) through the nonmagnetic spacer. For the first time, oscillations of the transverse Kerr effect (TKE) with changing the Pt- and Pd-wedge thickness were discovered. Period of these oscillations was found to depend on the FML thickness and the photon energy of the incident light. TKE spectra of the examined samples were discovered to modify very strongly with increasing $t_{NML}$. The discovered peculiarities of magneto-optical properties of thin-film systems were explained by a concept of the spin-polarized quantum well states in the pt and Pd layers.

Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminates can be used more efficiently in strengthening applications by applying prestress to the CFRP laminates. A key problem for prestressing with CFRP laminates is anchoring the laminates. These may include fracture to the CFRP laminates due to excessive gripping force or slippage of the CFRP laminates out of the anchorage zone caused by low friction between the anchor device and the lamiantes. The main objective of this study is the development of an applicative wedge-type anchorage system for prestressed CFRP laminates through experimental study. The experimental parameters were the type of anchorage and the effect of elastic modulus of tab. The test results showed that the developed anchor assures 100% CFRP laminate strength.

The hydrodynamic effect of appendages for high-speed passenger vessels, such as Ro-Pax, Ro-Ro and cruiser vessels, is very severe and, therefore, it is essential to carry out the design of appendages for high-speed passenger vessels from the preliminary design stage to the final detail design stage through a full survey of the reference vessels together with sufficient technical investigation. Otherwise, many problems would be caused by mismatches between the appendages and the hull form. This paper investigates the design characteristics of some appendages, such as the side thruster, the shaft-strut, and the stern wedge, based on the design experience accumulated at Samsung, on CFD, and on model test results for high-speed passenger vessels. Further to this investigation, some practical and valuable design guidelines for such appendages are suggested.
