  • Ubiquitous computing is one of the key technology areas in the "Project on Development of Ubiquitous computing and network technology" promoted by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a frontier business of the $21^{st}$ century in Korea, which is based on the new concept merging physical space and computer-based cyber space. With recent advances in Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) technology, low cost and low-power consumption wireless micro sensor nodes have been available. Using these smart sensor nodes, there are many activities to monitor real world, for example, habitat monitoring, earthquake monitoring and so on. In this paper, we introduce web-based real environment monitoring system incorporating wireless sensor nodes. It collects sensing data produced by some wireless sensor nodes and stores them into a database system to analyze. Our environment monitoring system is composed of a networked camera and environmental sensor nodes, which are called Mica2 and developed by University of California at Berkeley. We have modified and ported network protocols over TinyOS and developed a monitoring application program using the MTS310 and MTS420 sensors that are able to observe temperature, relative humidity, light and accelerator. The sensed data can be accessed user-friendly because our environment monitoring system supports web-based user interface. Moreover, in this system, we can setup threshold values so the system supports a function to inform some anomalous events to administrators. Especially, the system shows two useful pre-processed data as a kind of practical uses: a discomfort index and a septicity index. To make both index values, the system restores related data from the database system and calculates them according to each equation relatively. We can do enormous works using wireless sensor technologies, but just environment monitoring. In this paper, we show just one of the plentiful applications using sensor technologies.

  • As the complexity of Web applications have increased significantly, the approach using frameworks such as Cocoon, Struts, JSF, is being suggested to develop Web applications more Quickly and efficiently. However, it Is difficult for beginners to write Apache Cocoon Sitemap files in XML. We implement a Cocoon Sitemap editor on the Java Servlet engine that allows beginners to write Cocoon Sitemap files more easily. Our system consists of three parts: Sitemap Main editor, Pipeline Viewer, and Sitemap Tracer. Sitemap Main editor support users to write BML configuration documents, so-called Sitemap file, that defines all the components pipelines, generators, and other configuration information for a Cocoon application. pipeline Viewer support users to catch the structure of Cocoon component pipelines by the medium of graphical interface. Sitemap Tracer have features to monitor of SAX events through Cocoon pipelines in a Sitemap file.

Abstract Electronic business processing has drastically grown since the advent of the World Wide Web. As transaction processing is at heart of business processing, many companies have been interested in transaction processing on the Web. However, little attention has been paid to supporting consistent transaction processing on the Web, while most of the work has been focused on performance enhancement, processing multiple HTTP requests in a single context, and scalability. This paper identifies three problems in consistent transaction processing on the Web, and proposes corresponding solutions for each problem. The results are implemented in the Web transaction processing system WebTP. These solutions are based on cookie logging, Web page logging and keeping information for unilaterally aborted transactions. The solutions proposed in this paper also can be applied to other Web transaction processing system of similar architecture.

  • In heterogeneous and distributed computing environments, with an increasing number of Web services providing similar functionalities, the reliability of Web services is a critical decision factor. To fulfill the open business model such as cooperation among enterprises, several Web services can be composed into the upper level business transaction. In Web services composition, the reliability of services is more and more critical. Though each unit Web service can be reliable, the reliability of the composed service is not guaranteed. Thus a way to efficiently assess and select composed Web services is needed. In this paper, we define new metrics for measuring the trust value of Web services, and propose an evaluation method to predict the trustworthy degree of the composed services based on the metrics. We also define a conceptual framework to support optimal Web services selection based on the proposed trust evaluation method. By selecting using the quantitative measurement rather than intuitive selection of the service user, it allows the service users to select the high reliable service meeting their quality requirements well.

  • R is a free software for statistical analysis that provides simple interfaces to other application programs. Many people are trying to learn R, but it is difficult to learn R compared to commercial software such as SPSS or SAS, and it is cumbersome to provide an environment to teach R. Thus, it is essential to provide a new web-based R environment for novice users or for laboratory use. We developedWebER (a web-based R environment) using PHP on the Linux apache server. WebER can be easily used by any R user because we implemented the same functions as the basic Rgui such as editing R program, generating the text, image outputs, errors and warnings. It is also possible for multi-users to access WebER.

  • Eclipse is an open integrated environment for software development, rapidly emerging as the de facto standard for developing java applications. Also, it is easily extensible since new functions for the environment can be added through the installation of various plug-in modules. WebDAV is an IETF standard protocol, which is an extended version of HTTP 1.1, supporting asynchronous collaborative authoring of various contents on the web. In this paper, we describe the development of the DAVSpace plug-in which enables programmers to use remote workspaces offered by WebDAV servers as project workspaces for software development in Eclipse. Based on the WebDAV protocol, DAVSpace supports the management of resources on the remote workspaces associated with projects in Eclipse. Using DAVSpace, we can create a project in Eclipse on a designated remote workspace in addition to the default local workspace. Whenever an event for storing a resource is generated, DAVSpace stores the resource into both workspaces. Thanks to DAVSpace, developers can effectively proceed their projects regardless of where they are located.

  • The developers of mobile agent systems are considering integrating the system into the web and the developers of web servers are also considering supporting mobile agents in the future. But they are not clearly suggesting the relationship between web programming which has basically client/server architecture and mobile agent programming which is based on autonomous code mobility. In this paper, firstly, we clarify the method for integrating mobile agent programming into web programming by suggesting the model for mobile agent programming on the web. Secondly, by developing APIs for Java which is widely used for both web programming and mobile agent programming, we made it possible for programmers to use them for programming mobile agent on the web. Thirdly, we show the usefulness of the proposed model by adding and testing modules for execution environment of mobile agents on W3C's Java based web server, Jigsaw.

  • A standard Web server or web application servers require the Web Servlet container to execute SOAP messages. But it requires additional process to make web service modules and need communication port. Also, Recently many web applications is becoming increasingly demand against the dynamic document than the static documnet. But a recent study has found that Apache Web Server always does not show the better performance. The more it have the dynamic documents, rather it can show worse performance. To solve this problem, we propose a new High-Speed Message Processing System, in which the SOAP_MP and the WSDL builder are used. The WSDL builder convert HTML/XML to WSDL files automatically and the SOAP_MP minimize SOAP massage processing time by eliminating the Tomcat Servlet container in the mobile Web Services implementation. We compare and analyze the System, which was proposed by us, with the standard Web Service system.

  • Web service is a standardized software technology which enables interoperability for various applications regardless of operating systems and programing languages through public networks such as the internet and by web service standards. It is distributing computer services that enable a web environment by discovering and providing necessary services. However, there are drawbacks when selecting services for new web environments because current various search methods are based on performance of those services. Even when the performance of the service is improved by selecting web services based on either the service performance or when the new services are discovered, lack of resources causes the web services to get pushed back from the current service list. Therefore, in order to resolve resource allocation issues when selecting web services, this study offers the suitable services for the clients by applying improved services based on scalable information and by applying the information obtained by the clients when requested.
