The Dynamic Interface Representation of Web Sites using EMFG (EMFG를 이용한 웹사이트의 동적 인터페이스 표현)

  • Web designers generally use a story board, a site map, a flow chart or the combination of these for representing web sites. But these methods are difficult to represent the entire architecture of a web site, and may be not adaptive for describing the detail flow of web pages. To solve these problems to some degree, there were works using EMFG(Extended Mark Flow Graph) recently. However the conventional EMFG representation method is not adaptive to represent the dynamic interface of web sites because that cover only the static parts of a web site. Internet utilization is rapidly growing in our life and we cannot imagine the worlds of work, study and business without internet. And web sites recently have not only more complex and various architecture but also web pages containing the dynamic interface. Therefore we propose the representation method of these web sites - for example, a web site containing varying pages with time and varying page status or contents with mouse operations - using EMFG. We expect our work to be help the design and maintenance of web sites.

A Semantic-Based Information Filling System Using Ontology (온톨로지를 이용한 의미 기반 정보 채움 시스템)

  • It is very iterative and complicated work to enter the personal information every time one fills the form-based resume or one joins the new membership page on the internet. Although there are some systems that have the personal information on the computer and fill the membership page automatically, their accuracies are not often satisfactory in that the fields and their values do not match exactly. The research proposes and implements a system that has user's information on the computer and reasons and fills the information automatically that a membership web page(target page) requests using the personal information ontology. During the reasoning process, the target page is analyzed to extract the requested fields. Then the requested field names are converted to the standard field names using synonym ontology. The converted requested fields find the appropriate level in the personal information ontology using ontology match making to generate the final field value. The system not only finds the similar fields but also generates the exact field values by reasoning on the information ontology hierarchy. By experimenting with several membership pages on the web, the system showed higher accuracy over the existing systems. The system can be easily applicable to the cases where one iteratively fills the same information such as resume form.

  • Web usage mining is a method to extract meaningful patterns based on the web users' log data. Most existing patterns of web usage mining, however, do not consider the users' diverse inclination but create general models. Web users' keywords can have a variety of meanings regarding their tendency and background knowledge. This study evaluated the extraction web-user's pattern after collecting and analyzing the web usage information on the users' keywords of interest. Web-user's pattern can supply a web page network with various inclination information based on the users' keywords of interest. In addition, the Web-user's pattern can be used to recommend the most appropriate web pages and the suggested method of this experiment was confirmed to be useful.

Efficient Design of Web Searching Robot Engine Using Distributed Processing Method with Javascript Function (자바스크립트 함수처리 기능을 포함한 분산처리 방식의 웹 수집 로봇의 설계)

  • In this paper, we proposed and implemented web robot using active script engine with internet explore to process javascript function link, which is not processing in conventional web searching robot. This web searching robot is developed to measure collecting amount of web searching robot with processing of javascript function link. We analysed the architecture of web searching robot with google and naybot to develope web searching robot, implemented element of configuration applicable to searching robot and designed with distributed processing type. In addition to, we estimated the proposed web robot employing javascript processing model and analysed the comparison of collecting amount of web site board using javascript. We obtained the result of 1,000 web page collecting compared to conventional method in case of 1,000 web site board.

Mapping Cache for High-Performance Memory Mapped File I/O in Memory File Systems (메모리 파일 시스템 기반 고성능 메모리 맵 파일 입출력을 위한 매핑 캐시)

  • The desire to access data faster and the growth of next-generation memories such as non-volatile memories, contribute to the development of research on memory file systems. It is recommended that memory mapped file I/O, which has less overhead than read-write I/O, is utilized in a high-performance memory file system. Memory mapped file I/O, however, brings a page table overhead, which becomes one of the big overheads that needs to be resolved in the entire file I/O performance. We find that same overheads occur unnecessarily, because a page table of a file is removed whenever a file is opened after being closed. To remove the duplicated overhead, we propose the mapping cache, a technique that does not delete a page table of a file but saves the page table to be reused when the mapping of the file is released. We demonstrate that mapping cache improves the performance of traditional file I/O by 2.8x and web server performance by 12%.

  • The purpose of this paper is to introduce and propose the vision of information design for the user-friendliness and accessibility for web-based information services. Information design, which focuses more narrowly on the information itself in one or more information units, and may encompass the information aspects of elements of design(labels, knobs, and the physical interface), information content design, page design, Web site design, typography decisions, and so forth. Information design is an alternative to all traditional approaches to information (science, philosophy, and others). Information is designed according to consciously chosen principles and criteria. rather than by following habitual patterns of a traditional profession.

  • n this paper, we propose a WBI(Web Based Instruction) for individualized learning using push and pull technologies with WWW(World Wide Web). As well as push End pull technologies, the proposing system is implemented with JSP(Java Server Page) and JDBC(Java Database Connectivity) of java technologies based on the client/server envirionments for the purpose of providing practical lectures to students.

  • The present study employed an experimental usability testing technique to explore cognitive engineering characteristics of WWW. Based on the results of our previous study which employed non-experimental methods such as questionnaire and heuristic evaluation method, this study used a behavioral performance-measurement technique to evaluate the usability of a domestic web-site design. Specifically, we revised the menu and document structure of the original 'Movie-Friend' site to solve the design problems which were extracted from the results of the heuristic evaluation method of our previous study. Exp. 1 compared the relative navigation efficiency of the original frame menu site and the revised pop-up toolbar site, and Exp. 2 compared the toolbar menu site and the revised frame site. As a result of Exp. 1, the revised pop-up toolbar site showed improved navigation efficiency compared to the original site, as indicated by the mean latency and the number of pathways to reach the target page. However, we found no performance difference between the frame site and toolbar site in Exp. 2.

A Unit of Information-Based Content Adaptation Method for Improving Web Content Accessibility in the Mobile Internet

  • In the mobile Internet, users generally work with handheld devices with limited computing power and small screens. Their access conditions also change frequently. In this paper, we present a novel method supporting intelligent content adaptation to better suit handheld devices. The underpinning is a unit of information (UOI)-based content adaptation method, which automatically detects semantic relationships among the components of Web contents and then reorganizes page layout to fit handheld devices based on identified UOIs. Experimental results demonstrate that our method enables more sensitive content adaptation.
