Trends of Search Behavior of Korean Web Users (국내 웹 이용자의 검색 행태 추이 분석)

  • This study examines trends of web query types and topics submitted to NAVER during one year period by analyzing query logs and click logs. There was a seasonal difference in the distribution of query types. Query type distribution was also different between weekdays and weekends, and between different days of the week. The log data show seasonal changes in terms of the topics of queries. Search topics seem to change between weekdays and weekends, and between different days of the week. However, there was little change in overall patterns of search behavior across one year. The implications for system designers and web content providers are discussed.

  • The rapid growth of e-business market makes new online companies to start and existing offline companies to join in this area. As the number of players of this market grows rapidly, the competition among them is very intense. Many companies invest huge resources to online marketing including search advertisement, email advertisement and banner advertisement. Because these traditional online marketing activities mainly focus on how to invite visitors to their web sites, ROI of these marketing activities are getting lower. Many companies are looking for a new marketing method to escape this situation. In this paper, we propose ROMS (Realtime Online Marketing System) which supports tools to improve conversion ratio of e-commerce sites, ROMS gathers behavioral data of visitors and analyzes it in realtime. ROMS supports live chats, visitor profiling, context analysis, event detection, and live marketing. With ROMS, personalized offers based on visitors' realtime context can be made for each visitor.

  • Recent popularity of web-ready mobile devices such as PDA and cellphone has made mobile Internet access very popular. However, most of existing Web contents and services are optimized for desktop computing environment and not well suited for mobile devices. Considering different system features of mobile devices such as small display and limited input capability, an alternative scheme to access the Web efficiently is required. On the other hand, personalization plays an important role in the tailored access to the Web contents and services. In this paper, we propose a proxy- based personalization scheme of Web service pages for mobile users. For that purpose, in addition to log data. service related features of Web pages are considered for the correct identification of popular services. It automatically provides mobile users with the tailored list of Web services well suited for diverse mobile devices. Consequently, mobile users can utilize customized Web services with minimum navigation on the mobile devices with limited capability. In order to show its effectiveness, we have performed several experiments on the prototype system and reported some of the results.

  • Great many advertisements are serviced in on-line by development of electronic commerce and internet user's rapid increase recently. However, this advertisement service is stopping in one-side service of relevant advertisement rather than doing users' inclination analysis to basis. Therefore, want advertisement service that many websites are personalized for efficient service of relevant advertisement and service through relevant server's log analysis research and enforce. Take advantage of log data of local system that this treatise is not analysis of server log data and analyze user's Preference degree and inclination. Also, try to propose advertisement system personalized by making relevant site tributary category and give weight of relevant tributary. User's preference user preference which analysis is one part of cooperation fielder ring of web personalized techniques use information in visit site tributary and suppose internet user's action in visit number of times of relevant site and try inclination analysis of mixing form. Express user's preference degree by vector, and inclination analysis result uninterrupted data that simplicity application form is not regarded and techniques that propose inclination analysis change of data since with move data use and analyze newly and proposed so that can do continuous renewal and application as feedback Sikkim. Presented method that can choose advertisements of relevant tributary through this result and provide personalized advertisement service by applying process such as user inclination analysis in advertisement chosen.

Analysis of Users' Inflow Route and Search Terms of the Korea National Archives' Web Site (국가기록원 웹사이트 유입경로와 이용자 검색어 분석)

  • As the users' information use environment changes to the Web, the archives are providing more services on the Web than before. This study analyzes the users' recent inflow route and the highly ranked 100 search terms of each month for 10 and half years in the Web site of National Archives of Korea, and suggests suitable information services. As a result of the analysis, it was found out that the inflow route could be divided into access from portal site, by country, from related institutions, and via mobile platform. As a result of analyzing the search terms of users for the last 10 and half years, the most frequently searched term turned out to be 'Land Survey Register', which was also the search term that was searched for with steady interests for 10 and half years. Also, other government documents or official gazettes were of great interests to users. As results of identifying the most frequently searched and steadily searched terms, we were able to categorize the search terms largely in terms of land, Japanese colonial period, the Korean war and relationship of North Korea and South Korea, and records management and use. Based on the results of the analysis, we suggested strengthening connection of the National Archives Web site with portal sites and mobile, and upgrading and improving search services of the National Archives. This study confirmed that the analysis of Web log and user search terms would yield meaningful results that could enhance the user services in archives.

  • 인터넷 이용자의 급증에 따라 보다 효과적인 웹 사이트의 구현을 위한 과학적이고 체계적인 분석의 필요성은 더욱 절실해지고 있다. 웹 로그 파일은 사용자가 웹 사이트를 이용하면 서버에 남는 기록으로 이 데이터를 기반으로 다양한 정보를 추출해낼 수 있다. 본 논문은 실제 인터넷 사이트를 운영하는 기관의 로그를 상용화된 로그분석 툴을 이용하여 사이트 정보구조의 개편 전과 후를 비교 분석하고, 로그분석의 정확성을 높이기 위한 웹 사이트내 정보구조설계 방안을 제시 한다.

  • Nowadays, the advancement of digital information technology resulting in the increased interest of the management and the use of information has given stimulus to the research on the use and management of information. In this paper, we propose an integrated data mining model that can provide the necessary information and interface to users of scientific information portal service according to their respective classification groups. The integrated model classifies users from log files automatically collected by the web server based on users' behavioral patterns. By classifying the existing users of the web site, which provides information service, and analyzing their patterns, we proposed a web site utilization methodology that provides dynamic interface and user oriented site operating policy. In addition, we believe that our research can provide continuous web site user support, as well as provide information service according to user classification groups.

A Risk-based System Analysis Model for Improving the Performance of Financial Solutions

  • In this paper, we propose a model which can prioritize the performance improvement work by analyzing the major risks and their influence, which can cause performance degradation in the system and show an example of a performance improvement using this model. In presentation-tier, as a result of log data analysis before and after the performance improvement of key processes which handle financial transactions, this model brought the CPU utilization and memory enhancement in the performance improvement work of the financial system which was carried out by applying the proposed model. It has been confirmed that the entire end-user can be accommodated. In the web-tier, the available memory increased by 200MB and we were able to improve the server restart(Recycling) that was sustained in the existing system. In the business logic-tier, we have been able to see better figures after performance improvements through the graph which analyzes the log collected with the key performance counters such as CPU%, Batch Requests/sec. In the data-tier, it has been confirmed that CPU usage and standby operation were reduced and the throughput was found to increase.

  • Todays, electronic commerce(EC) results to the revolution and new paradigm of business, more and more Web-based EC applications have emerged. But, it's web systems should be satisfied by customers and it should be successful to buying some goods in virtual stores with easy to use. The usability and acceptance of the EC web system is one of the key factors in the successful construction of EC system. In this paper, we considered the characteristics of information search and decision making process in the design of EC web system to be used easily and to be more acceptable to customers. On the basis of these characteristics, we could classified with the activities of the process of buying in the domestic web systems. And, the log files of experimental tasks were analyzed by the statistical method of data mining. As the these results, the important factors of the process of buying could be summarized, 5 user groups could be seen in EC customers, and the usage patterns of these groups were described. These results could be very useful to design user-oriented EC web system.

  • This study proposes an expanded model of personalized search service based on community activities on a Korean Web portal. The model is composed of defining subject categories of users, providing personalized search results, and recommending additional subject categories and queries. Several experiments were performed to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed model. It was found that users' activities on community services provide valuable data for identifying their Interests, and the personalized search service increases users' satisfaction.
