  • In this paper, a 3-port waveguide circulator of Ka-band millimeter-wave for isolation between transmit channel and receive channel at high power transmit mode is designed and fabricated for the seeker of the guided missile and circulator performance is verified through the S-parameter, high power and operation temperature test. At the configuration design, interface design between a seeker antenna and the circulator is considered and half-height of standard waveguide is applied for minimum and light weight body. The shape of permanent magnet and ferrite is optimized by simulation and tuning dielectrics at each port are placed for the best performance. In Fc(center frequency)${\pm}1000MHz$, designed waveguide circulator has below -20 dB return loss, below 0.5 dB insertion loss and below -23 dB isolation. It is found that circulator characteristics is similar to design results.

  • In this paper, a design method for a compact broadband planar monopole antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) is studied. The proposed broadband monopole is optimized for terrestrial digital television (DTV) reception. In order to achieve broadband characteristics, the monopole and ground conductor are gradually tapered. By loading slit pairs on both monopole and ground plane, the proposed antenna is miniaturized. The monopole is fed by a CPW with 75-ohm characteristic impedance on an FR4 substrate and its size is $100mm{\times}200mm$. The optimized monopole antenna for DTV band (470-806 MHz) is fabricated on an FR4 substrate and tested experimentally to verify the results of this study.

  • ZOR(zeroth order resonance) antenna for 2.45GHz WLAN(wireless local area network) is designed by use of CRLH-TL(composite right left handed transmission line) meta-material. The electrical length of conventional antennas is determined generally according to the resonant frequency, whereas that of ZOR antenna can be determined without reference to the resonant frequency. Therefore ZOR antenna has advantage in miniaturization of antenna in comparison with conventional antennas. In order to design such ZOR antenna, first unit cell with electrical length shorter than a quarter wavelength at 2.45GHz is designed to the some characteristics of homogeneous medium. In order to decrease resonant frequency and enhance frequency bandwidth, the proposed antenna is fed by CPW(co-planar waveguide) and short stub between radiation patch and ground plane is used for obtaining both higher inductance and smaller capacitance than previous mush-room type of CRLH-TL.

  • In this paper, we designed and fabricated the trapezoidal antenna using the CPWG structure for Wibro and WLAN communications. This antenna has broadband characteristics using the basic trapezoidal antenna, and an H-shaped parasitic patch is making an expansion of resonance bandwidth and bringing stability of impedance matching. Especially, CPWG structure is combined two kinds of the structure which of a monopole antenna and a coplanar waveguide antenna. They make up for the weak point of the CPW which is variation of impedance matching according to varying the gap or size of the feed line and the ground. The designed antenna has occurred resonances of which the band of 2.2 GHz to 4.6 GHz(70.5 %) below the return loss of -10 dB($VSWR{\leq}2$) obtained in measurement, and it has an omnidirectional radiation pattern of H-plane. In addition, the changes of impedance matching appear slightly caused by the effects of the ground plane and the feed line.

  • In this paper, the CPW-fed Ultra-wideband antenna is designed and fabricated for UWB communications. To achieve ultra-wide bandwidth of the antenna, we propose the mutual coupling of two planar monopole antennas. The mutual coupling of monopole pair of the proposed antenna is optimized by adjusting the parameters, the widths of the planar monopoles and the space between two monopoles. Two UWB antennas with different horizontal sections of the CPW-fed monopole antenna are fabricated and measured to examine the mutual coupling effects on the monopole pair antenna. The measured result show that two antennas are satisfied with UWB communication band(3.1$\sim$10.6Ghz).

The proposed antenna is designed two slit in the modified monopole type radiator and FR-4 substrate, which is thickness 1.0 mm, and the dielectric constant is 4.4. The size of proposed antenna is 15.1 mm⨯16.41 mm, and total size of proposed antenna is 17.5 mm⨯16.4 mm. From the fabrication and measurement results, From the fabrication and measurement results, bandwidths of 439 MHz (2.06 to 2.499 GHz), 840 MHz (3.31 to 4.25) and 1,315 MHz (5.23 to 6.545 GHz) were obtained on the basis of -10 dB impedance bandwidth. Also, 3D radiation pattern characteristics of the proposed antenna are displayed and measured gains 2.24 dBi, 2.83 dBi, and 2.0 dBi shown in the three frequency band, respectively.

  • In this paper, a new co-planar waveguide ultra-wideband aperture is designed. The designed antenna consists of a rectangular aperture on a determined ground plane and a mushroom shaped stub. The mushroom-shaped stub, which is simple, convenient to analyze and optimise, has less parameter. This antenna has compact aperture size $21.1{\times}8.1mm^2$, designed on FR-4 substrate with dielectric constant of 4.3, thickness of l.5mm. CPW fed planar antenna has the advantages of wide-bandwidth, low-cost and easy interaction with the radio frequency front end circuitry.

  • This paper will read about a multichannel frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar sensor with switching transmit (TX) antennas is developed at W-band. To achieve a high angular resolution, a uniform linear array consisting of 5 switching-TX and 12 receive (RX) antennas is employed with the digital beamforming technique. The overall radar front-end module comprises a W-band transceiver and TX/RX antennas. A multichannel transceiver module consists of 5 up-conversion and 12 down-conversion channels, where one of the TX channels is sequentially switched ON. For developing transmitter, we developed an HPA (high power amplified) MMIC chip for W-band radar system and fabricated a transmitter module using this chip. In order to develop the W-band transmitter, we analyzed the important antenna transition structure from HPA MMIC line to W/G (Waveguide)antenna via M/S(microstrip) and fabricated it with 5 transmission channels. As a result, the output power of the transmitter was within 1 dB of the error range after analysis and measurement under normal temperature and environmental conditions.

  • Large spaceborne antennas should be lightweight, a factor related to the development costs of launch vehicles. In order to overcome this drawback, a feasibility study of a new carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) named M55J/RS3 is carried out for a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) reflector antenna. In particular, the high resolution of detected images is taken into consideration. To validate the electrical performance, a test of the CFRP specimen is fabricated, and the transmission/reflection coefficients are measured using a standard X-band waveguide. Finally, the effective complex permittivity and effective electrical conductivity are derived from the obtained measured data. By applying the derived conductivity to the simulation of the radiation pattern, antenna gain, and beamwidth-instead of relying on the assumption of a perfect electric conductor-variations in electrical performance are also investigated and discussed.

  • We use conformal mapping method to derive the analytical expressions for calculating electrostatic fields and electric potentials surrounding the conductor-backed coupled coplanar waveguide(CBCCPW) structure. Using the derived expressions, the electrostatic fields and potentials are computed at various points of the CBCCPW's geometry and the field and potential distributions are analyzed. The proposed method provides a faster and simpler calculation of the field distributions than the full-wave analysis method because no iterations are required. This method can be widely applied to the analysis of microwave integrated circuits using coupled line, such as coupler, filter, and microstrip antenna.
