  • The round off noise properties of wave digital filters have known and desirable properties in respect to their realization with short coefficient wordlengths. This paper presents the optimal implementation of wave digital filters by employing multiprocessor archtectures in the sense of input sampling rate, the number of processors, and input-output delay. The implementation will be specified by complete circuit diagrams including control signals, and can be applied to an existing silicon complier for VLSI layout generation.

  • In the calculation of wave propagation by Boussinesq equation model, it is very common to experience numerical noises generated from nonlinear interaction and breaking wave occurrence, and the numerical solution is rapidly diverged unless the noises are properly controlled. A comparative study was here undertaken for the characteristics of three different lowpass filters (FFT filter, Gaussian filter and Shapiro filter) which are all designed to be applied to the interim results of numerical calculation. The numerical results obtained with application of respective filter techniques were compared with the results of an existing hydraulic experiment for the aspects of noise suppression, conservation of main signal and altering time. The results show that the Shapiro filter can be best applied with optimal choices of its element number, pass number and filtering tune interval. The combination of the number of filter element off, pass number of 50 or less, and application interval of 100 to 200 time steps generally showed good performance in both accuracy and efficiency of the numerical calculation.

  • Frequency responses of the surface acoustic wave(SAW) filters are simulated by using the impulse modeling. The simulation technique of the SAW filters is to use the Fourier transformation to make a correspondence between the impulse response of the filter and the taps in the delay line. Since the Fourier series must be truncated after a finite number of terms, window functions are often used to weight the coefficients to obtain the desirable side-lobe level and bandwidth. The filter design is operated through the iterative simulation procedures. The design process is capable of yielding filters with optimized frequency response characteristics.

  • This paper describes a theory to calculate sound source field from the spatial transform of sound field and the measured cross-power spectrum of sound pressure over a hologram plane close to a sound source, Calculating method is proposed to solve sound pressures from cross-power spectrums over a hologram plane, For this, Taylor series for the nonlinear equations is expanded, and it is calculated using Newton-Raphon method, Also, a wave number filter is used to reduce errors that is occurred on the backward propagation, and is performed numerical simulation of the circular piston sound source with infinite baffle in water to verify the proposed theory.

  • In order to simulate the ceramic filter in the state of the one-strip electrode, the theory has been analyzed and a computer program has been developed using the energy trapping effect. The ceramic filters were fabricated using the PZT-4 specimen. The necessary condition that the ceramic filter has the energy trapping effect is that the electroded portion frequency should be smaller than the unelectroded portion frequency when the wave number is zero. Each of the average differences of the resonant point and bandwidth between by the theoretical calculations and by experiment results was 5.6[%] and 3.72[%]. It is considered that the one-strip ceramic filter having a desired characteristics and the lowest difference can be fabricated easily by means of the simulation developed in this paper and the fabrication methods.

  • Many filters are made in order to dectect the accurate signal. The performance of the filter is evaluated as to remove the noise effectively. It is necessary to determine the threshold value for the accurate evaluation of the filter effectively. In this study, we investigated the optimization of the threshold value. It was used for the triangular wave signal and the power supply noise. SNR change according to the number of samples was studied. As the number of samples increases, SNR saw also stabilizde.

  • The high resolution studies for shallow seismic reflection are carried out using 24-channel seismograph and the high sensitivity geophone(50-500Hz). In order to study the underground structures such as small faults, fractures, cracks and cavities, it is of great importance to enhance high resolution of the seisrnic records for the targets vertically and laterally. In analysis of high resolution seismic reflection, Nyquist frequency($F_N$) should be lager than the highest frequency in the records and the highest wave number should not be exceed the Nyquist wave number($1/2{\Delta}x$). The highest frequency above the Nyquist will be removed using low pass filter or antialias filter. The trace interval Ax should be taken into account so that the highest wave number(f/v) can be less than $1/2{\Delta}x$. The Fraunhofer diffraction of a hyperbola seismic section above the tunnel appeares on the common offset method, and little first arrivals of direct wave on the single-end shooting, delayed strong impulsive reflections are also shown above the tunnel. Ray Method(Cherveney and Psencik, 1983) also represents the same results that the reflected waves from the tunnel are delayed and single impulsive with little first arrivals, while transrnitted waves through the tunnel are delayed with low frequency.

  • Digital waveguide model is a general method that is used in physical modeling of musical instruments. Wave motion is analyzed by time or by space in digital waveguide model. Because sampling is made via time, it is general that musical instrument model is described by wave motion of time. In this paper, we synthesized the musical instrument sound by adding instrument body model to the spatial based string model. In this way, we could improve sound quality and process musical instrument model's tone control variables effectively. We explained about delay error that happens in string and body in space based sampling and showed method to process fractional delay using FD (Fractional Delay)filter. Finally, we explained the relation between tone quality and number of delays. And we also compared the result with time base digital waveguide model.

  • The full wave method requires a great number of computer memory and lasting long CPU time for the calculation of the discontinuity problems in microstrip structures. While the computation only for the transverse field components at those structures causes the both of time and memory reduction. For the case of the calculating only transverse components for the most of microstrip structures such as low-pass filter, branch coupler and patch antenna the computer memory and running time can be reduced to about 50% and 33%, comparing to the full wave computation. Consequently, the proposed method than that of TEM-mode has an advantages of higher speed and less memory than that of conventional FDTD analysis.

  • Recently, number of components and operation frequency rapidly increase in automotive systems. This often leads to EMI (electromagnetic interference) where automotive systems suffer from malfunctions induced by electromagnetic wave. This paper surveys various EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) compliance technologies such as EMI filter, EMI shielding materials, and spread spectrum clock generator. Their pros and cons are also explained.
