  • Wave breaking and breaking wave-induced hydrodynamics are very important subjects in the field of coastal and ocean hydrodynamics and engineering. In the coastal zone, a submerged breakwater has been increasingly popular, since it is one of nature-matching structures with multi- functions such as (1) wave energy dissipation by wave breaking and friction, (2) oxygen supply to sea by wave breaking and breaking wave, (3) water purification by entrained air bubbles, (4) keeping. good seascape. and (5) good habitat for sea livings. Recently, the breaking wave-induced high frequency pressure over a submerged breakwater is said to have a function of gathering sea livings around the structure, which has encouraged the construction of the submerged breakwater in coastal zone. • The automated ECG diagnostic systems in hospital have a low P-wave detection capacity in case of some diseases like conduction block. The purpose of this study is to improve the P-wave detection ca- pacity using wavelet transform. The first procedure is to remove baseline drift by subtracting the median filtered signal from the original signal. The second procedure is to cancel ECG's QRS-T complex from median filtered signal to get P-wave candidate. Before we subtracted the templete from QRS-T complex, we estimated the best matching between templete and QRS-T complex to minimize the error. Then, wavelet transform was applied to confirm P-wave. In particular, haiti wavelet was used to magnify P-wave that consisted of low frequency components and to reject high frequency noise of QRS-T complex cancelled signal. Finally, p-wave was discriminated and confirmed by threshold value. By using this method, We can got the around 95.1% P-wave detection. It was compared with contextual information.

  • This study presents the attenuation characteristics of the first guided longitudinal wave mode propagating in water-filled, buried steel pipes in order to investigate the effects of soil saturation and compaction on the attenuation patterns. For numerical calculation of attenuation, 10 different combinations of S-wave velocity, P-wave velocity, and soil densities were considered. From the attenuation dispersion curves, which were obtained using Disperse software, we determined that the attenuation decreases as saturation increases, whereas it increases as compaction increases. Over the frequency range from 0.2 to 0.4 MHz, the first longitudinal wave mode has attenuations that are relatively lower than for other ranges, is faster than the first flexural wave mode, and is sensitive to defects aligned in the axial direction. Hence, the first longitudinal wave mode over the mentioned frequency range would be the proper choice for long-range buried pipelines that transport water.

  • In order to develop a floating breakwater, which can efficiently control long period waves, vertical plates are attached in pontoon. Wave control and dynamic behaviors of the newly developed vertical plates type are verified from numerical analysis and hydraulic experiment. As a result, for the wave control and energy dissipation, the newly developed vertical plates type is more efficient than the conventional pontoon type. For the floating body motion, the wave transmission, depending on incident wave period, is decreased at the natural frequency. Dimensionless drift distance has similar trend of the reflection rate of wave transformation near natural frequency except maximum and minimum values. Dimensionless maximum tension is 17 percent of the weight of floating breakwater in case of the conventional pontoon type and 18 percent or 14 percent in case of the newly developed vertical plates type. Thus, it is shown that the wave control is improved by the vertical plates type. In addition, by adjusting the interval of the front and back vertical plate, we would control proper wave control.

  • Premature ventricular contractions are the most common of all arrhythmias and may cause more serious situation like ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in some patients. Therefore, the detection of this arrhythmia becomes crucial in the early diagnosis and the prevention of possible life threatening cardiac diseases. Most methods for detecting arrhythmia require pp interval, or the diversity of P wave morphology, but they are difficult to detect the p wave signal because of various noise types. Thus, it is necessary to use noise-free R wave. So, the new approach for the detection of PVC is presented based on the rhythm analysis and the beat matching in this paper. For this purpose, we removed baseline wandering of low frequency band and made summed signals that are composed of two high frequency bands including the frequency component of QRS complex using the wavelet filter. And then we designed R wave detection algorithm using the adaptive threshold and window through RR interval. Also, we developed algorithm to classify PVC using RR interval. The performance of R wave and PVC detection is evaluated by using MIT-BIH arrhythmia database. The achieved scores indicate average detection rate of 99.76%, sensitivity of 99.30% and specificity of 98.66%; accuracy respectively for R wave and PVC detection.

  • By adopting a 2D time-dependent wave code, we investigate how mode-converted waves at the Ion-Ion Hybrid (IIH) resonance and compressional waves propagate in 2D density structures with a wide range of field-aligned wavenumbers to background magnetic fields. The simulation results show that the mode-converted waves have continuous bands across the field line consistent with previous numerical studies. These waves also have harmonic structures in frequency domain and are localized in the field-aligned heavy ion density well. Our results thus emphasize the importance of a field-aligned heavy ion density structure for ultra-low frequency wave propagation, and suggest that IIH waves can be localized in different locations along the field line.

  • The applications of the electrical transmission line theory to the pressure propagation characteristics in the volume loaded fluid transmission line with step and impulse input wave is demonstrated in this paper. The method is based on the premise that the time response is the inverse Fourier transform of frequency spectrum of the wave which spectrum is a product of frequency spectrum of input pressure wave and system transfer function. The frequency response and transient response of step and impulse input wave in the volume loaded fluid transmission line is analysed by the Laplace transform and inverse Laplace transform with FFT numerical algorithm. The numerical solution of the distributed friction model is compared with the average friction model and the infinite product model. And the result is showed that FFT method may have major advantages for the simulation of fluid circuitary.

  • This paper designed the horn of half-wave needed for Ultrasonic meta) welding. The horn has to be designed and manufactured accurately, because measurements such as the shape, length, mass and etc. have effects on the resonant frequency and the vibration mode. Designed horn of half-wave has the feature of 40,000Hz of nature frequency, and maximizes vibration range in the Tip by resonance in the frequency of ultrasonic wave machine. In this study, we calculated and analyzed the natural frequency to find the optimal design of the horn that amplified the amplitude about double by the modal analysis and harmonic analysis using ANSYS. And we did FFT analysis of the manufactured horn.

  • In the semiconductor and the optical industry a new transport system which can replace the conventional sliding system is required. These systems are driven by magnetic field and conveyer belt. The magnetic field damages semiconductor and contact force scratches the optical lens. The ultrasonic wave driven system can solve these problem. In this paper, the object transport system using the excitation of ultrasonic wave is proposed. The experiments for finding the optimal excitation frequency, finding phase-difference between two ultrasonic wave generators are performed. The relationship of transporting speed according to the change of flexural beam shape is verified and the system performance for practical use is evaluated.
