농업용 저수지의 수질개선방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on Measures for Water Quality Improvement in Irrigation Reservoir)

  • The measures for water quality improvement have been planned to introduce for several reservoirs which were badly polluted among the sites included in the Network of Agricultural Water Quality Survey (NAWQS). Considering conditions of circumstances around reservoirs, self-purification systems such as natural ecosystem, oxidation ponds with plants, grassed waterways, weirs, and manmade plant-islands are taking into account enhancing to trap nutrients in waters running off from agricultural lands. The Pollutant Run off Ratios were analysed to predict the effects of water quality improvement for self-purification systems. The cost of water quality improvement was evaluated. The correlation equation between cost and irrigation area showing high correlation coefficient was derived.

  • We extracted narrow open water streams from JERS-1 SAR images of the Amazon rain forest. The extracted range of these streams were almost comparable to a high level extraction of the same streams from near-IR images of JERS-1 VNIR data notwithstanding that these features in SAR images show the strong dependence of the observation angle. Large water bodies are relatively easy to extract from JERS-1 SAR images, as they tend to appear as very dark areas; but streams whose width is nearly equal to or less than the spatial resolution no longer appear as very dark features. By using strong scatterers distributed sparsely along the radar facing sides of the streams, we can successfully estimate approximate ranges of waterways and then extract relatively dark line-like features within these ranges.

Wave Field Near a Vessel in Restricted Waterway

  • Shipwaves can have harmful effects on people who are using riverside and cause bank erosion, bank structures destruction in restricted waterways. The wave field near a vessel is consisted of a combination of a primary and secondary wave system in a shallow or restricted waterway. The water level depression(squat) and return current beside the hull are called the primary wave system. The secondary wave system, that is the wave height originates from a local disturbance point such as the bow of the ship. This study aims at investigating the characteristics of the wave field around a vessel in a restricted water in relation to navigation experimentally and theoretically. The return current and squat with a correction factor can be newly evaluated and the almost same high-sized wave heights take place on the whole waterway in a restricted water without regard to the distance from the sailing line.

  • Solid waste disposal and management is a critical problem in Nigeria. Annually, a huge quantity of municipal solid waste is generated in Aba. Municipal solid waste disposal in Aba poses severe challenge to environmental safety, public health and welfare of citizens. The situation is made worse by the indiscriminate dumping of refuse at roadsides, streets, waterways and empty lands. The impact of this waste management practice in Aba is environmental deterioration. Efforts to improve waste management in Aba have not recorded significant success. This paper therefore aims to highlight the challenges facing the waste management sector in Aba and proffer solutions on how to improve the sector.

불균일류중(不均一流中)에서의 선박조종운동(船舶操縱運動)의 계산(計算) (Calculation on Manoeuvring Motions of Ships in Non-uniform Flow)

  • Generally, the non-uniform flow with varying speed distribution ca be formed near narrow straits or waterways. One of the most dynamic modes of capsizing can occur as a result of manoeuvring of ships in non-uniform flow. This paper covers the investigation into the factors affecting the likelihood of server ship motions in non-uniform flow. Digital simulation of manoeuvring is carried out in order to predict conditions which could lead to serve ship motions in non-uniform flows. Hydrodynamic force derivatives of a container ship are used. Finally, possible conditions of severe ship motions are suggested and guidelines for reducing the liability to capsize are given both for the ship operator and the naval architect.

독일 내륙수로에 대한 현황과 교훈 (Status and Major Lessons of Inland Waterways in Germany)

  • 독일 내륙수로의 길이는 12개강을 중심으로 7,306 km이며, 북해의 하구로부터 라인강 상류 바젤까지 여객과 화물이 운반된다. 또한 라인강과 마인강, 도나우강을 거쳐 동유럽을 관통하여 흑해까지 연결되어 물류의 이동뿐만 아니라 인적 및 문화의 교류가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 독일 내륙 운하법은 연방내륙수로법, 선박기록규정법, 특허규정, 배기가스 규제에 관련된 법규 등으로 구성되었다. 특히 물길 잇기를 자연친화적인 방법으로 추진하였으며, 하천환경복원에 많은 투자와 배려를 아끼지 않았다. 라인강 상류지역을 직선하천으로 만들므로 홍수통제를 이루었으며, 하류지역 홍수범람문제의 해결책으로 상류지역에 천변저류지를 건설하였다. 또한 옛 가지천을 활용해서 지하수 수위 저감을 막을 수 있었다. 도나우강은 수로의 수심을 유지하기 위해 자연친화적인 공법을 적용하여 생태하천으로 복원되었다.

익산지역 수원지의 불소함량에 관한 조사연구 (A Study on Fluoride Content in the Reservoirs Of Iksan Region)

  • This study was carried out to collect basic dates on fluoride intake from drinking water, and the apperance of mottled teeth after taking samples form 5 selected waterways from Iksan region's reservoir to the filtration plant for examination of the fluoride content. The results are as follows. 1. It indicatied that from Hoojung reservoir $2.17{\pm}0.95ppm$, Bulsan reservoir $1.93{\pm}0.23ppm$ and Yoolso reservoir $2.19{\pm}0.10ppm$. 2. Significances were found between Shinhung reservoir $2.57{\pm}1.22ppm$ and Uhwoo reservoir $0.80{\pm}0.55ppm$. 3. Except for the Uhwoo reservoir, the remaining 4 reservoir exceeded the standard fluoride content of 0.50-1.00ppm. For the residents in the region where they use natural water with fluoride content exceeding the standard 1.00ppm as their drinking water and the apperance of mottled teeth should be carried out.

연안항로내 해저케이블 매설을 위한 적정 굴착단면의 산정 (Evaluation of Optimal Dredging Section Area for Burying Submarine Cable across the Coastal Waterways)

  • 최근 해양에너지플랜트 및 도서지역을 연결시키기 위한 해저 파이프라인 및 통신, 전력 케이블 매설공사가 빈번하게 이루어지고 있다. 특히, 연안항로를 가로지르는 해저케이블 매설공사에는 준설장비를 동원하여 해저부를 굴착하고 케이블을 부설한 후 상단을 덮어 보호하는 일련의 작업과정이 행해지며 이 과정에서 해저저질의 상태, 준설심도, 조류 또는 연안류의 흐름강도, 수심, 통항선박 등 다양한 조건에 따라 단면의 굴착심도 및 폭이 결정되며, 작업의 순서 또는 방법에 따라 여굴의 정도도 변하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 우리나라 서해안 실제해역에서 연안 도서를 연결하는 전력, 통신망의 개통을 위한 해저케이블 부설과 관련한 굴착단면의 실태를 실제 현장여건과 관련해서 적정단면과 준설물량의 산정을 다루어 해저환경변화에 대처하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 대상해역에서 주요설계 지침에 따른 해저부 굴착단면의 평가와 적정단면을 검토하였으며, 이 단면에 따른 준설 적정물량을 산정하여 작업공정에 활용할 수 있도록 하였다.

고속 여객선의 교각 충돌에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Bow Collapse of High-Speed Passenger Craft in Collision with Bridge Pier)

  • During the last 10 years, the various type of high speed craft have been greatly developed, and since around of 1990 the large size of high speed passenger and/or cargo vessels are also introduced and took into the service in the various routes over the world. In a marine traffic way some bridge need to build across a rivers, cannals or a waterways. This one will be an obstruction and potential risk of collision in the way of high speed craft. Accordingly some of collision accident have been reported, which were caused by a lost control, wind and hydrodynamic forces, fog or human errors. In this paper a high speed craft having 40 m length is assumed to be collided with a circular type of bridge piers at right angle. The mode of deformation, penetration depth of collapse, impact forces, reduction of speed, loss of kinetic energy, and influence of scantlings, etc. have been calculated in each speed with a time variation to find a maximum values within a limit, and are graphically presented.

측벽부근을 항해하는 선박과 측벽간의 상호 간섭력에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Hydrodynamic Interaction Forces between Ship and Bank Wall in the Proximity of Bank)

  • It is well known that the hydrodynamic interaction forces between ship and bank wall affect ship manoeuvring motions. In this paper, the calculation method based on the slender body theory for estimation of the hydrodynamic interaction forces between ship and bank wall is investigated. The numerical simulations on hydrodynamic interaction force acting on a ship in the proximity of bank wall are carried out by using this theoretical method. The theoretical method used in this paper will be useful for practical prediction of ship manoeuvrability at the initial stage of design, for discussion of marine traffic control system and for automatic control system of ship in confined waterways.
