모델을 이용한 음식물퇴비 혼합토양에서의 Pb 흡착 및 이동성 평가 (The assessment of the adsorption and movement of Pb in mixed soil with food compost using model)

  • Food compost, having a higher organic contents than soil, could be an alternative material to prevent the proliferation of heavy metals contamination in soil. In this study we used a convection-dispersion local equilibrium sorption model(CDE) and a two-site non-equilibrium sorption model to find the effects on the adsorption and transportation of Pb by mixing food compost with soil and we also tried to find the effect of velocity and concentration of the injected solution on the characteristics of Pb. We measured Pb concentrations in injection-liquid and in effluent, and then applied them to CXTFIT program. As a result of column experiments, some parameters(D, R, ${\beta}$, ${\omega}$) used in two-site non-equilibrium adsorption model were obtained. Characteristics of Pb adsorption and transport were analyzed using the parameters(D, R, ${\beta}$, ${\omega}$) obtained from the CXTFIT program, We could know that mixed soil with food compost showed a higher adsorption capacity from the retardation factor(R) calculated from the breakthrough curve(BTCs) of Pb. Rs of soil and mixed soil are 20.45, 37.45 respectively, indicating that the adsorption and the transportation characteristics could be accessed quantitatively by using of two-site non-equilibrium adsorption model.

  • The results of evaluating steel corrosion in concrete containing chloride content of various levels indicated that the more chloride content in concrete leads to the lower potential and higher corrosion current density. However, the open circuit potential of steel varied with time and exposure condition, and the corelation between the open circuit potential and corrosion current density was not obvious. In order to determine the critical threshold content of chloride of steel corrosion in concrete, the concept of average corrosion current density was employed. The range of critical chloride content in portland cement concretes was about $1.56{\sim}1.77%$($Cl^-$, %, wt of cement content) along with water-cement ratio, and higher water-cement ratio resulted in reduction in critical threshold chloride content.

비지 첨가에 따른 국수의 제면 특성 변화 (Changes in the Characteristics of Noodle by the Addition of Biji Powder)

  • The objective of this study was to determine the characteristics of noodle dough made with biji powder (2, 4, 6 and 8%). Increase in the amount of biji powder significantly increases the water-binding capacity and decreases lightness (L) (p<0.05). The changes of redness (a), yellowness (b) and size of pore were insignificant. In the case of raw noodle, hardness, springiness, gumminess and chewiness of raw noodle significantly increased with increasing concentrations of the biji powder (p<0.05). Hardness of cooked noodle increased according with increase in concentration of biji (p<0.05). Springiness was increased up to 4% of biji concentration and slightly decreased at higher concentrations (p<0.05). Adhesiveness and cohesiveness of cooked noodle decreased according with increase in concentration of biji (p<0.05). The was no significant changes in the gumminess and chewiness. Taken together, addition of 4.0% biji powder to noodle dough may improve the preference of noodles.

Effect of low-calcium fly ash on sulfate resistance of cement paste under different exposure conditions

  • Low-calcium fly ash (LCFA) were used to prepare cement/LCFA specimens in this study. The basic physical properties including water demand, fluidity, setting time, soundness and drying shrinkage of cement/LCFA paste were investigated. The effects of curing time, immersion time and wet-dry cycles in 3% $Na_2SO_4$ solution on the compressive strength and the microstructures of specimens were also discussed. The results show that LCFA increases the water demand, setting time, soundness of cement paste samples. 50% and 60% LCFA replacement ratio decrease the drying shrinkage of hardened cement paste. The compressive strength of plain cement specimens decreases at the later immersion stage in 3% $Na_2SO_4$ solution. The addition of LCFA can decrease this strength reduction of cement specimens. For all specimens with LCFA, the compressive strength increases with increasing immersion time. During the wet-dry cycles, the compressive strength of plain cement specimens decreases with increasing wet-dry cycles. However, the pores in the specimens with 30% and 40% LCFA at early ages could be large enough for the crystal of sodium sulfate, which leads to the compressive strength increase with the increase of wet-dry cycles in 3% $Na_2SO_4$ solution. The microstructures of cement/LCFA specimens are in good agreement with the compressive strength.

  • The purpose of this study is to conduct a comparative analysis between Korea and the United States of the supply process of unit modular housing at both the factory production phase and the transportation and lifting phase, as part of an attempt to invigorate the unit modular housing market in Korea. Unlike the practice in the United States, one of Korea's unique characteristics is that the floor is constructed with reinforced concrete and hot water heating system. To do this, the wet method in Korea is used that includes concrete placement, curing and constructing hot water floor heating system at the factory production phase, which results in a longer production time and also requires the lifting of heavier loads. In the United States, interior and exterior finishing works of modular housing are performed by different companies, and the distance between the unit module factory and the construction site is quite far. This kind of dualized production structure may cause confusion when it comes to schedule management, procurement management, and stock management. Moreover, problems caused by external environmental factors such as wind and rainfall were reported in the course of long-distance transportation. The results of this case comparison are expected to provide fundamental data that will reduce the amount of trial and error in the unit module production, transportation and lifting work in Korea, which has a comparatively small number of unit modular housing cases.

고속도로 안개발생 빈도추정 모형 개발 (Development of a fog Frequency Estimation Model at Expressway)

  • A traffic accident which happens in Expressway during dense fog is more likely to cause the sequential accidents and high death rate. So, the preventive measures shall be taken at dangerous areas to enhance the efficiency of roads and minimize the accidents and the resultant damages. So, it is necessary to find out the characteristics of freeway zone which has high risk of fog occurrence and to establish the comprehensive safety strategy on installation and operation of the safety equipment. In this study, I developed a fog forecasting model by using the freeway fog data. This model can be used as the fog forecasting model in dealing with fog problems when new road is planned. The model was developed by using a statistical analysis technique or the regression analysis, focusing on the variables such as geographical features and regional conditions, distances to water sources and the area of water source. I have segmented the models by classifying the area into inland area and coastal area. The distance to water source and area of the water source located around the freeway were found to be main factors causing fog.

Acetylation of Sarcoplasmic and Myofibrillar Proteins were Associated with Ovine Meat Quality Attributes at Early Postmortem

  • The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between meat quality attributes and the changes of sarcoplasmic protein acetylation and myofibrillar protein acetylation in lamb longissimus thoracis et lumborum muscles at different postmortem phases. Protein acetylation, color, pH, shear force, myofibril fragmentation index and cooking loss were measured. The total level of acetylated sarcoplasmic proteins showed a negative relation with pH, a positive relation with a*, b* and cooking loss at the pre-rigor phase. Sarcoplasmic proteins acetylation affected postmortem pH by regulating glycolysis, which in turn affects color and cooking loss. The total level of acetylated myofibrillar proteins showed a positive relation with shear force at the pre-rigor phase. Myofibrillar proteins acetylation affected meat tenderness by regulating muscle contraction. This study indicated that acetylation played a regulatory role of meat color, water-holding capacity, and tenderization process at early postmortem.

  • The improvement of the situation on the Korean Peninsula, following the June 2000 Summit, has opened up the possibility of reconstructing the railway between the North and the South. The interconnection of the railway systems would allow cargo transportation from the south of the Korean Peninsula to Russia, China and Europe.   • 고속 및 고효율의 해양 수송수단에 대한 필요성이 점차 증가되면서 위그선(WIG: Wing in Ground effect)이 차세대 수송수단으로 관심이 집중되고 있다. 이러한 고속 해양 수송선의 구조설계 시 수면에 대한 충격하중은 중요하게 고려되어야 할 하중요소 중의 하나이며 착수하중에 의한 동적거동은 손상을 초래하는 중요한 요소이다. 본 연구에서는 위그선 착수 시 수면 충격하중에 대한 수치해석을 통해 선체의 동적거동을 평가하였다. 착수환경에서의 수면충격하중을 ALE (Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian) 유한요소법을 적용하여 해석을 수행하였으며 3차원 쉘요소를 적용한 전기체 모델을 개발하여 위그선의 착수환경에서 선체의 동적거동을 모사하였다. 착수환경은 정상 착수조건과 측풍에 의한 비정상 착수조건 두 가지를 고려하여 해석을 수행하였으며 이러한 착수환경이 위그선 구조의 정적 구조 안정성에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다

  • This paper describes the development of catamaran type powerboat applicable to leisure and transportation in the sea. Recently, the increasing prosperity of the leisure population has resulted in an increased popularity and need for recreational equipment such as water leisure powerboat. To satisfy the popularity and the need, catamaran type powerboat is developed applicable to leisure and simultaneously, as a means of tranportation for a short distance in the sea through the design using 3-Dimensional modeling method and experiments in circulating wate channel.
