Experimental study on the spray density distribution of water spray system in road tunnel (터널 물분무소화설비의 살수밀도분포에 대한 실험연구)

  • Spray density of the water spray system which is installed in long road tunnels and hazardous vehicle tunnels is applied without proper performance assessment process. In this study, the requirements of Spray Density Guidelines at the standard pressure is investigated through spray test set up the nozzle of a water spray system in a simulated road tunnel. The results showed that all the nozzles used in the test area did not meet the requirements of the Guidelines. The absence of performance test codes and inspection process on the nozzle at real scale in tunnels may have caused this practice. Therefore, it is suggested that the performance test regulations of the nozzle on the water spray system is established in order to properly assess the system performance.

  • The performance of water spray system installed to reduce risks of tunnel fire is investigated by a real tunnel fire test. In case of A class fire, Pool fire, and car fire, the nozzle of water spray has had a marvelous effect to reduce the temperature of hot smoke. And it is verified to have remarkable cooling effects when there is the air flow in a tunnel. Though this results, water spray system will be able to prevent a fire jump to decrease the air temperature in a tunnel and to protect tunnel facilities by the fire control.

  • We study on the astronomical calendars that was used in the Silla era. The calendars are deduced from the records in Samguksagi. They were influenced from calendaric system of Tang Dynasty, which are Lin duk calendar(麟德曆), Ta yen calendar(大衍曆) and Sun myung calendar(宣明曆). We analyse them in detail according to the time and duration of use. Water clock system of Unified Silla was used four water vessels for supplying water. We found the model from documents on ancient water clock that are appeared in the old Korean, Chinese and Japanese historical records. We have assumed the model of Unified Silla clepsydra is similar type with Chinese records during Tang dynasty and with Japanese reconstructed water clock in Temple Asoka. After fluid dynamic experiment, we decide the suitable diameter of supplying pipe and volume of the vessels used in the clepsydra. We introduce the experimental instruments and methods for accomplishing the clock. We designed and reconstructed the water clock of Unified Silla and float rods for measuring time, that is based on the Silla's calendaric system.

Space Charge Behavior of Oil-paper Insulation Thermally Aged under Different Temperatures and Moistures

  • Moisture and high temperature are the most important factors that lead to the ageing of oil-paper insulation, but the research about space charge characteristics of oil-paper insulation does not take the combined effect of ambient temperature, moisture and thermal ageing into account. The pulsed electroacoustic (PEA) method was used to investigate the influence of moisture and temperature on space charge characteristics of oil paper at different ageing stages. The results showed that moisture could speed up formation of space charge in oil paper when water concentration was low, but the formation was restrained if the water concentration was high. At the beginning of thermal ageing, heterogeneous charge accumulation had predominance, but it gradually changed to homogeneous charge injection with ageing. It was believed that moisture concentration could speed up ageing and enhance charge accumulation on one hand, and accelerate or slow down the establishment speed of space charge on the other hand, therefore, charge accumulation type changed with ageing. The more seriously the oil-paper insulation was thermally aged, the deeper the trap energy level was, hence more space charge was trapped, which could be speeded up by increasing the ageing temperature, but the effect of ambient temperature did not fit the Arrhenius law.

  • Electrical properties such as space charge distribution and electrical conduction of XLPE/VLDPE blends were studied. When the VLDPE is blended, residual charge inside XLPE increases. In case of electrical conduction characteristics, there were no changes in electrical conduction mechanism, space charge limited conduction. XLPE/VLDPE blend including crosslinking coagent showed relatively small current density. It might be due to the carbonyl group in crosslinking coagent.

  • The purpose of this study is the development of practical Dry floor tile unit method that settle the defect of a wet method and designed for resin mat. With use of PE resin which is confirmed the basic property, it is developed that resin mat, joint-sealing compound with fixed form and space management to Dry floor tile unit method. The result of this study is below. 1) To acquire above the 4kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ - construction specification criterion, the bonding space that between resin mat and tile has to occupy the 50% of resin mat module space(10,000$\textrm{cm}^2$). 2) Criteria of bonding part plane is below. simpleness of metal form. productivity, uniform quality after injection molding cooling, easy cutting for remain space management, adhesive property, construction ability, transformation of a severed piece under pressure and so on. 3) To get the shape that could protect the interfacial breakdown, it is designed that resin mat and tile are unified after the bond input. 4) Adapted joint-sealing compound is the material of urethane kinds wedge form. Resin mat has the water passageway that could drain the water. 5) To manage the severed piece of tile, the resin mat is likely to divide the half and the quarter and the plastic drainage is developed in the severed piece.

Effect of Mixture Ratio Variation near Chamber Wall in Liquid Rocket Engine

  • An experimental research program is being undertaken to develop a regeneratively-cooled experimental thrust chamber of liquid rocket engine using liquefied natural gas and liquid oxygen as propellants. Prior to firing test using a regenerative cooling with liquefied natural gas in this program, several firing tests were conducted with water as a coolant. Experimental thrust chambers with a thrust of about 10tf were developed and their firing test facility was built up. Injector used in the thrust chamber was of shear-coaxial type appropriate for propellants of gas and liquid phase and cooling channels are of milled rectangular configuration. Periodical variation of the soot deposition and discoloration was observed through an eyes' inspection on the inner wall of a combustion chamber and a nozzle after each firing test, and an intuitive concept of the periodical variation of mixture ratio near the inner wall of a combustion chamber and a nozzle at once was brought about and analyzed quantitatively. Thermal heat flux to the coolant was calculated and modified with the periodical variation model of mixture ratio, and the increment of coolant temperature at cooling channels was compared with measured one.

  • A novel oxidant generation and ion precipitation cell with slits on parallel plate electrodes was proposed instead of the conventional parallel plate type. An investigation was carried out on the effect of the number and size of slits on ion precipitation and oxidant generation characteristics, evidenced by eliminated space charge limiting action and by elevated electric fields in active interelectrode sparing. Consequently, very high ion precipitation and dense oxidant generation characteristics can be realized by having slits un the electrodes of conventional cells as these slits increase the electric fields and decrease the space charge limiting actions in interelectrode spacing.

The survey was carried out individual interviews in the place where it can be directly overlooked the Han-river. And the results were analyzed in percentage terms.   • One of the most important design concerns for undersea tunnels is to establish design water load and flow rate. These are greatly dependent on the hydraulic factors such as water head, cover depth, hydraulic boundary conditions. In this paper, the influence of the hydraulic design factors on the ground loading and the inflow rate was investigated using the coupled finite element method. A horse shoe-shaped tunnel constructed 30 m below sea bottom was adopted to evaluate the water head effect considering various water depth for varying hydraulic conditions and relative permeability between lining and ground. The effect of cover depth was analysed for varying cover depth with the water depth of 60 m. The results were considered in terms of pore water pressure, ground loading and flow rate. Ground loading increases with an increase in water head and cover depth without depending on hydraulic boundary conditions. This points out that in leaking tunnels an increase in water depth increases seepage force which consequently increases ground loading. Furthermore, it is identified that an increase in water head and cover depth increases the rate of inflow and a decrease in the permeability ratio reduces the rate of inflow considerably.
