  • Global companies can sell their products with dierent warranty periods based on location and times. Customers can select the length of warranty on their own if they pay an additional fee. In this paper, we consider the warranty period and the repair time limit as random variables. A two-dimensional warranty policy is considered with repair times and failure times. The repair times are considered within the repair time limit and the failure times are considered within the warranty period. Under the non-renewable warranty policy, we obtain the expected number of warranty services and their variances in the censored area by warranty period and repair time limit to conduct a warranty cost analysis. Numerical examples are discussed to demonstrate the applicability of the methodologies and results using field data based on the proposed approach in the paper.

  • This article is concerned with cost analysis in product warranty policy. The warranty cost can be different according to warranty rate and warranty renewal policy. In this paper the stepdown warranty is used. The warranty renewal policy is considered when the warranty is received upon free replacement period as item failing. Assuming the non repairable item as one item is sold, investigated manufacturer's cost in stepdown warranty policy. Also manufacturer's cost is calculated in the free replacement. pro-rata. hybrid policy. Numerical example is given over Weibull time to failure distribution, comparing stepdown warranty policy with free replacement, pro-rata, hybrid one in the manufacturer's point of view. The sensitivity analysis of warranty cost according to the number of warranty period step is included.

  • After the buyer purchases the product, the seller's role does not end. If the product fails to function properly before the end of the warranty period, the seller is responsible for its repair or replacement under the seller's warranty policy. There are two common types of warranty policies: the free replacement warranty and the rebate warranty. Under the free replacement warranty policy, replacement or repairs during the warranty period are provided by the seller free of charge to the buyer. Under the rebate warranty policy, a failed item is replaced by a new one or is repaired at a cost to the age of the failed item. The rebate warranty is most often used for items such as a battery or an automobile tire which wear out and must be replaced at failure. This paper proposes a easy way of estimating the warranty cost under the free replacement warranty policy assuming an exponential product failure function on repairable products.

  • In the paper, we consider two-dimensional warranty policy with failure times and repair times. The failure times are considered within the warranty period and the repair times are considered within the repair time limit. Under the renewable warranty policy and non-renewable warranty policy, we consider the number of warranty services in the censored area by warranty period and repair time limit to conduct warranty cost analysis. We investigate the field data to check their dependency and implement our proposed approaches to conduct warranty cost analysis using the parametric methods. Numerical examples are discussed to demonstrate the applicability of the methodologies and results based on the proposed approach in the paper.

  • Recently, an extended warranty of a system following the expiration of the basic warranty is becoming increasingly popular to the user. In this respect, we suggest a replacement model following the expiration of extended warranty with minimal repair warranty from the user's point of view in this paper. Under extended warranty, the failed system is minimally repaired by the manufacturer at no cost to the user during the original extended warranty period. As a criterion of the optimality, we utilize the expected cost rate per unit time during the life cycle from the user's perspective and suggest the optimal replacement period after extended warranty. Finally, a few numerical examples are given for illustrative purpose.

  • This paper considers the cost analysis from the manufacturer's point of view for renewing replacement and non-renewing repair warranty(RRNRW) of a repairable system. To do so, we consider the renewing replacement and non-renewing repair warranty, which is proposed by Jung(2011). To analysis the expected warranty cost from the manufacturer's perspective for renewing replacement and non-renewing warranty, we obtain the expected total warranty cost and the expected warranty length which are very important information for the manufacturer. Finally, the numerical examples are presented for illustrative purpose.

  • Purpose: In this paper, the minimal repair-replacement warranty policy is used to carry out a warranty cost analysis with warranty servicing times and failure times that are statistically correlated to bivariate distributions. Methods: Based on the developed approach by Park and Pham (2012a), we investigate the property of the Freund's bivariate exponential distribution and obtain the number of warranty services using the field data to conduct the warranty cost analysis. Results: Maximum likelihood estimates are presented to estimate the parameters and the warranty model is investigated using a Freund's bivariate exponential distribution. A numerical example is discussed to deal with the applicability of the developed approach in the paper. Conclusion: A novel approach of analyzing the warranty cost is proposed for a product in which failure times and warranty servicing times are used simultaneously to investigate the eligibility of a warranty claim.

  • Under the two-phase warranty, the warranty period is divided into two intervals, one of which is for renewing replacement warranty, and the other is for minimal repair warranty. Jung[13] discusses the two types of extended two-phase warranty models. In this paper, we suggest the replacement model after the extended two-phase warranty that has been proposed by Jung[13]. To determine the optimal replacement policy, we adopt the expected cost rate per unit time. So, the expressions for the total expected cost, the expected length of the cycle and the expected cost rate per unit time from the user's point of view are derived. Also, we discuss the optimal replacement policy and the uniqueness of the solution for the optimization. Furthermore, the numerical examples are provided to illustrate the proposed the replacement model.

  • A two-dimensional warranty policy, two types of warranty criteria, such as the age and mileage of an automobile, are employed simultaneously to determine the eligibility of a warranty claim. We deal with the analysis of a variety of combined two-dimensional free replacement warranty(FRW) and pro-rata replacement warranty(PRW). In this paper we also propose the analysis of policies with item failures modelled using the one-dimensional and two-dimensional approach, respectively. We obtain expressions for the expected warranty costs and illustrate through numerical examples.

  • In this article, 1'd like to analyse the principal distinctions between the duty of disclosure and warranty which are based on the same legal principles, utmost good faith(uberrima fides). Although the duty of disclosure and warranty have a same legal principle to protect insurance contract, they have several difference in appliance actually. Through these comparative analysis, 1 want to reveal the character of warranty which is unfamiliar to us under our commercial law. Warranty has some peculiarity, these are (a)A warranty does not have to be material to the risk, (b)A warranty must be exactly complied with, (c)It is impossible to defence for a breach of warranty, the breach of warranty is irremediable, and A casual connection between breach and loss needs not be shone, (d)A breach of a warranty may be waived by insurer. Sometimes in Korea like those stringent principles of warranty make Korean's small fishing or shipping company suffer from difficult because of insistence of discharge from liability by insurer. So I expect that all of them acknowledge the character of warranty and can make them protect their insurance money by themselves.
