국내 미기록 등수국 녹병균 Pucciniastrum hydrangeae-petiolaris (Pucciniastrum hydrangeae-petiolaris, a Newly Found Rust Fungus on Hydrangea petiolaris in Korea)

  • 등수국은 수국과에 속하는 덩굴성 식물로 우리나라의 울릉도, 제주도, 남해안 섬에 분포한다. 2017년 10월 제주도에서 등수국에 발생하는 녹병균을 국내 최초로 발견하였다. 등수국 녹병균을 동정하기 위해, 형태적 특성을 조사하고 internal transcribed spacer (ITS) 및 28S large subunit (LSU) rDNA의 염기서열의 분자계통학적 분석을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 한국의 등수국 녹병균은 일본과 러시아에서 보고된 Pucciniastrum hydrangeae-petiolaris의 형태적 및 분자계통학적 특징과 일치하였으며, 북미에서 보고된 P. hydrangeae와는 상당히 먼 계통학적 관계를 보였다. 본 연구는 한국의 등수국에서 녹병균 P. hydrangeae-petiolaris의 첫 보고이다.

  • 상록활엽수림의 식생구조 변화를 모니터링 하기 위하여 완도수목원에 20개의 고정시험구를 1996년에 설치했다. 20개의 고정시험구는 10개의 시험구와 대조구로 구분했으며, 시험구는 적정밀도로 택벌한 후 상록활엽수를 식재했다. 시험처리전 20개 고정시험구의 식생구조는 붉가시나무, 붉가시나무와 개서어나무, 소나무 등이 우점하였고, 소나무군락과 낙엽활엽수군락에서 붉가시나무군락으로 천이되는 식생구조를 나타냈다. 시험처리시험구는 붉가시나무와 소나무가 우점하는 식생구조로 바뀌었고, 관목층과 지피층의 출현종수, 개체수, 피도 등이 증가하였다.

Age-dependent Distribution of Fungal Endophytes in Panax ginseng Roots Cultivated in Korea

  • Fungal endophytes were isolated from 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-year-old ginseng roots (Panax ginseng Meyer) cultivated in Korea. The isolated fungal endophytes were identified based on sequence analysis of the internal transcribed spacer and morphological characterization by microscopic observations. A total of 81 fungal endophytes were isolated from 24 ginseng roots. Fungal endophytes were classified into 9 different fungal species and 2 unknown species. Ginseng roots that were 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-years old were colonized by 2, 6, 8, and 5 species of fungal endophytes, respectively. While Phoma radicina was the most frequent fungal endophyte in 2-, 3-, and 4-year-old ginseng roots, Fusarium solani was the dominant endophyte in 1-year-old ginseng roots. The colonization frequencies (CF) varied with the host age. The CF were 12%, 40%, 31%, and 40% for 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-year-old ginseng roots, respectively. We found a variety of fungal endophytes that were distributed depending on the age of ginseng plants.

월출산국립공원 금생골의 식생구조 (Vegetation Structure of the Kumsaenggol in the Wolchulsan National Park)

  • 월출산국립공원 금생골의 식생구조 분석을 실시하기 위해 30개 조사구를 설치하고, 식생조사를 실시하였다. Classification 기법 중 하나인 TWINSPAN을 이용하여 군락분리를 시도한 결과, 굴참나무군락(I),상수리나무군락(II), 소나무군락(III), 소나무-상수리나무군락(IV)의 4개 군락으로 분리되었다. 이상의 분석결과 월출산국립공원 금생골의 식생은 군락 I 과 II의 경우 소나무에서 굴참나무와 상수리나무 등 참나무류로 천이가 진행된 발전단계였으며, 군락 III과 IV는 소나무가 참나무류와 경쟁관계에 있는 것으로 판단된다.

  • 제주도 동부지역의 저지대 상록활엽수림 내 습지에서 우리나라 미기록 종인 흑삼릉과(Sparganiaceae)의 남흑삼릉(Sparganium fallax Graebn.)이 채집되었다. 이 종은 지금까지는 일본, 중국, 대만, 인도, 인도네시아(수마트라), 미얀마, 뉴기니 등 우리나라보다 남쪽에만 분포하는 것으로 알려져 왔다. 남흑삼릉은 잎 뒷면에 능이 있고, 4-7개의 웅성 두상화서, 상대적으로 넓게 떨어져 있으면서 대개 자루가 없으나 최하위는 자루가 있는 자성 두상화서를 갖는다는 점에서 나머지의 흑삼릉과 식물들과 구분이 된다. 염색체 수는 2n = 2x = 30으로 2배체이며 염색체 크기는 $0.69-2.19{\mu}m$로 매우 작았다.

  • New somatic chromosome numbers and karyotype analyses of 33 medicinal herbs (30 genera, 23 families) in Korea were investigated. The chromosome numbers of 4 taxa, Euryale ferox, Rodgersia podophylla, Cirsium japonicum var. ussurience, Eehinops setifer, showed results that are different from previous reports. Among 33 taxa, 23 taxa were reported for the first time, and karyotype analyses were newly conducted for 2 taxa (Tiarella polyphylla, Crepidiastrum denticulatum) in Korea. In addition, we observed for the first time the new chromosome numbers for 4 taxa distributed evenly over the world (Lindera erythrocarpa, Corylopsis glabrescens var. gotoana, Ardisia crenata, Callicarpa japonica var. luxurians).

Diversity and Saline Resistance of Endophytic Fungi Associated with Pinus thunbergii in Coastal Shelterbelts of Korea

  • The Black Pine, Pinus thunbergii, is widely distributed along the eastern coast of Korea and its importance as a shelterbelt was highlighted after tsunamis in Indonesia and Japan. The root endophytic diversity of P. thunbergii was investigated in three coastal regions; Goseong, Uljin, and Busan. Fungi were isolated from the root tips, and growth rates of pure cultures were measured and compared between PDA with and without 3% NaCl to determine their saline resistance. A total of 259 isolates were divided into 136 morphotypes, of which internal transcribed spacer region sequences identified 58 species. Representatives of each major fungi phylum were present: 44 Ascomycota, 8 Zygomycota, and 6 Basidiomycota. Eighteen species exhibited saline resistance, many of which were Penicillium and Trichoderma species. Shoreline habitats harbored higher saline-tolerant endophytic diversity compared with inland sites. This investigation indicates that endophytes of P. thunbergii living closer to the coast may have higher resistance to salinity and potentially have specific relationships with P. thunbergii.

5S와 45S rDNA 유전자를 이용한 제주도산 애기더덕 (Codonopsis minima)과 더덕 (C. lanceolata)의 FISH 패턴 분석 (Analysis of FISH patterns using 5S and 45S rDNAs in Codonopsis minima and C. lanceolata from Jeju Island)

  • The chromosome number was identified and fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH) mapping of 5S and 45S rDNAs were conducted for C. minima and C. lanceolata in the genus Codonopsis from Jeju island. In this study, we have confirmed that the somatic metaphase chromosome number determined as 2n=2x=16 was the same as the findings from the previous studies. While the conventional staining method makes it rather difficult to distinguish satellite chromosomes due to high degree of variability, FISH analysis produced the exact number and location of 5S and 45S rDNAs. Both species in the genus Codonopsis have a pair of 5S rDNA and their gene loci were observed on chromosome 3. Although two pairs of 45S rDNAs (one on chromosome 1 and the other on chromosome 8) were identified in both species, the 45S rDNA signals on chromosome 8 in C. minima were significantly weaker than those on chromosome 1. In addition, the 45S rDNA signals on chromosome 1 in C. lanceolata showed that the chromosome is non-homologus. In this study, we have determined cytogenetic characteristics of C. minima and C. lanceolata according to their gene replication patterns.

우리나라 미기록 식물: 영아리난초(난초과) (A new record for the Korean flora: Nervilia nipponica Makino (Orchidaceae))

  • 제주도 한라산 낙엽수림에서 우리나라 미기록속인 난초과 영아리난초속의 영아리난초가 채집되었다. 본 종은 대만과 일본의 열대 및 아열대에 주로 분포하는 것으로 알려져 왔다. 영아리난초속은 식물체가 흔히 녹색이며 잎은 단생이고 주름이 있으며, 화아가 성장하기 전에 발달하고 낙엽이 되며, 줄기는 분지하지 않고, 화분괴는 2개이며, 대부분 점착체가 없는 점에서 난초과 Nervilieae족의 다른 속과 뚜렷하게 구분된다.

한반도 주요 도서 지역의 기후변화 지표 식물 분포 (Distribution of Indicator Plant of Climate Change in Major Islands of the Korean Peninsula)

  • This study analyzed the status of climate-change indicator plants native to the main islands of the Korean peninsula, while elucidating their distribution characteristics. Information on flora from over 129 island locations, comprising more than 100 species of native plants, was collected, compiled into a database, and utilized as raw data. The distribution of 193 climate-change indicator plants was confirmed. The distribution area of broadleaf evergreen trees and ferns, including Mallotus japonicus and Cyrtomium falcatum, was relatively wide. In contrast, the distribution of common northern plants such as Corydalis turtschaninovii and Malus baccata was limited. If global warming persists, northern plant distribution is expected to decrease rapidly in the Korean Peninsula island region, while the northern limit line of the southern plants is expected to migrate further northward. During this process, it is likely that the plant congregation structure and species diversity within the island region will change dynamically. In this study, comparative analyses between species and regions were conducted by assessing the relative frequency of their occurrence, and six types of botanical geographic distribution patterns were noted.
