  • Floor impact sound has been most annoying for years among the noises which are produced in apartment. This study aims to analyze the improvement of floor impact sound by comparing the results of the test which was carried out for the wall slab type apartment and moment frame apartment, and also for the effect of advanced vibration isolation layer. Moment frame structure that main structure consists of column and slab has shown better performance for the heavyweight impact sound comparing with wall slab type structure which is general type in Korea. Stiffness of floor system was raised by reinforcing the stiffness of vibration isolation layer, and it was analyzed how much the floor impact sound performance was improved. The result showed that the reinforced floor had better performance than the existing floor system that uses lightweight porous concrete as vibration isolation material. In addition, a system used wire mesh in mortar showed improvement of floor impact sound than a system without wire mesh, and better performance for the frequency bands lower than 160 Hz which causes floor impact problem in wall slab type apartment.

  • According to increasing demands for a redevelopment of a wall-slab structure apartment, new explosive demolition methods, which are different from those for RC structure apartment, are requested. In this study, to provide basic design data on explosive demolition of wall-slab structure apartment, wall-slab structure apartments were classified according to building types and dimensions. Also adequate explosive demolition methods for wall-slab structure apartment are analyzed by using blasting pattern factors such as height(H), breadth(B) and length(L) of apartment.

  • Seismic analyses of structures can`t be performed without considering the effect of soil-structure interaction and seismic responses of a structure taking into account the stiffnesses of a foundation-soil system show a significant difference from those with a rigid base. However, current seismic analyses of apartment building structures were carried out assuming a rigid base and ignoring the characteristics of a foundation and the properties of the underlying soil. In this study, seismic analyses of apartment buildings of a particular wall-slab structural type were carried out comparing seismic response spectra of a flexible base with those of a rigid base and UBC-97. Wall-slab type low-rise or mid-height apartment buildings built on the deep soil layer showed a rigid body motion with the reduced seismic responses due to the base isolation effect, indicating that it is too safe but uneconomical to utilize the design spectra of UBC-97 for the seismic analysis of a wall-slab type apartment buildings due to the too conservative design.

  • In this study, numerical analysis is performed to investigate the sound radiation characteristics of an apartment house according to the type of the slab system. In order to satisfy the boundary condition of the apartment house, the whole floor is modelled with FEM model for three different structural system: wall, RC, flat slab system. From the analytical results, it is shown that heavy weight floor impact noise of wall type slab is larger than that of the other slab systems and the noise radiated from the wall have great effect on the sound pressure level. The results also show that the vibration energy of RC or flat slab system is widely distributed over the whole slab, which is main reason that the noise induced by the slab systems is reduced in comparison with wall slab system.

  • In this seismic analyses of structures, it is well recognized that the effects of soil-structure interaction can not be ignored and seismic responses of a structure taking into account the stiffnesses of a foundation-soil system show the significant difference from those with a rigid base. However, current seismic analyses of apartment building structures were carried out with the rigid base ignoring the characteristics of the foundation and the properties of the underlying soil. Low-rise or middle height wall-slab type apartment buildings built on the deep soft soil layer showed a rigid body motion with the reduced seismic responses due to the base isolation effect, indicating that it is considerably safe but uneconomical to utilize the design spectra of UB-97 for the seismic design of wall-slab type apartment buildings due to conservative design.

  • It is proposed to analyze the vibration of slab with MTMD and vibration-induced noise. Substructure synthesis is introduced to develope the interaction between the slab and MTMD which are defined in different space and acoustic power is obtained from the velocity field of slab. Numerical analysis is performed to show that the vibration and noise of slab can be reduced by MTMD. A living room of wall type apartment including the wall and MTMD is modeled and analyzed by FEM program Numerical analysis shows that the vibration and noise control effect is different depending on the location and mass ratio of MTMD. Futhermore, noise is more effectively reduced when the vibration of higher modes of slab are reduced rather than lower modes.

  • Safety and efficiency in the construction of RC structures mainly depends on optimal operation of shore-slat systems. The disasters in RC construction are mainly due to excessive load applied to falsework and premature removal of supports. Development of sufficient compressive strength of early-age connote is essential for the safety of structures during construction. Most of studies on shore-slab interaction have focused on flat slab structures. In this study, load distributions in floor slabs and supports during the construction of shear wall-type RC apartment building structures is investigated using finite element analysis.

  • The purpose of this study was to find, through field and questionaire survey, the problems in arrngement of reinforcing bars in wall-slab type apartment buildings. The survey was done in 88 construction sites over the country. The findings from the survey were as followed : (1) reinforcement details were unnecessarily complex in some structural members and could be simplified without sacrificing the safety of the structures; (2) It was found in many cases that drawings of reiforcement failed to show the location of the laps, bent-up positions, and the development length; and (3) it was often found that the workers did not understand the importance of tloerence limits and anchorage in the steel bar arrangement.

  • The study uses the crossed wide girder(waffle slab type) in apartment structural system comparing with existing shear wall system. The crossed wide girder will be able to secure the span of the longest which is possible with minimum slab thickness by not increasing the height. The research sees continuity arranges the crossed wide girder in schedule interval following the stress distribution. Namely, it is to make the interior space with the space without column and wall in the minimum height. In order to check the numerical value of this study which it interpreted the ductile frame system due to the crossed wide girder and existing shear wall system used the Midas Gen is a program which 3-dimension laterial force designs are possible. Analysis results, the crossed wide girder system is not disadvantageously laterial drift, drift ratio and deflection of slab compares with existing shear wall system. Also the whole concrete amount is similar existing shear wall system. The crossed wide girder is advantage which secure a architectal variability.
