  • The development of data-based models requires uncertainty analysis to explain the accuracy of their predictions. In this paper, an uncertainty analysis of the support vector regression (SVR) model, which is a data-based model, was performed because previous research showed that the SVR method accurately estimates the collapse moments of wall-thinned pipe bends and elbows. The uncertainty analysis method used in this study was an analytic uncertainty analysis method, and estimates with a 95% confidence interval were obtained for 370 test data points. From the results, the prediction interval (PI) was very narrow, which means that the predicted values are quite accurate. Therefore, the proposed SVR method can be used effectively to assess and validate the integrity of the wall-thinned pipe bends and elbows.

  • Traditional wall is ground coat, twice plater, last plaster by such a process has made a wide variety of used materials and techniques are accordingly diverse. These traditional techniques handed down the traditional walls of the techniques, rather than coming to the lowered cut off at any moment from now when the technique is used, not knowing whether to be used. Repair and restore cultural property maintenance work, it is not only the outward form hiding inside it is a technique to keep the preservation of cultural assets can be called true. When viewed from the side walls of these conventional techniques to reveal changes in the traditional process by looking at the changes in technology with traditional techniques for cause shall be made in stock. This paper is from the late Joseon Japanese occupation of techniques ranging from traditional wall to reveal the change process to its current significance of cultural property repair method to be helped.

  • This paper is experimental and numerical research about the sliding behavior of cantilever retaining walls resisting surcharge loads. In experimental research, centrifuge model tests at the lg and 40 g-level were performed by changing the location of model footing and its width. Bearing capacity of model footing and characteristics of load-settlement and load-lateral displacement of retaining wall were investigated. Test results of bearing capacity were compared with modified jarquio method, based on the limit equilibrium method with elasticity theory. For the numerical analysis, the commericially available program of FLAC was used by implementing the hyperbolic constitutive relationships to compare with test result about load-settlement and load-displacement of retaining wall, bearing capacity of strip footing.

  • This paper represents the wall thinning analysis results for secondary side piping of two types of domestic nuclear power plants based on the DB establishment and F AC analysis study for NPP secondary system piping. CHECWORKS code utilized in this study has been applied world widely to wall thinning analyses for secondary side piping and its reliability has also been proved. The predicted wear rates for several piping systems of a pressurized water reactor NPP are compared with those of a pressurized heavy water reactor NPP and with the measured wear rates. On the basis of comparison results of the predicted and measured wear rates, the analysis results can be effectively applied to the development of a standard thinned pipe management program targeted all domestic nuclear power plants.

  • In this paper, four different types of pulsed eddy current(PEC) probe are designed and their performance of detecting wall thickness reduction is compared. By using the backward difference method in time and the finite element method in space, PEC signals from various thickness and materials are numerically calculated and three features of the signal are selected. Since PEC signals and features are obtained by various types and sizes of probe, the comparison is made through the normalized features which reflect the sensitivity of the feature to thickness reduction. The normalized features indicate that the shielded reflection probe provides the best sensitivity to wall thickness reduction for all three signal features. Results show that the best sensitivity to thickness reduction can be achieved by the peak value, but also suggest that the time to peak can be a good candidate because of its linear relationship with the thickness variation.

  • Recently, it is often reported that many rivers are polluted with diverse swages etc. Concrete blocks for retaining wall and revetment is considered as one of the reasons that bring about water pollution, which is indicated by the grouops related to the conservation of environment. From the viewpoint of theoretical matters, although concrete blocks for retaining wall and revetment are know to have no relations to water pollution, it is required to measure the level of water pollution more accurately. Therefore, in this paper, analysis of water, which concrete blocks for retaining wall and revetment is put in for certain periods, are carried out in order to the level of water pollution.

  • This paper presents the experimental result of composite basement wall in which H-pile and reinforced concrete wall are combined using shear connector. Twelve specimens are tested to evaluate the shear capacity of the wall. Main variables in the test are composite ratio, arrangement of shear connector, thickness of wall, shear span ratio, and shear reinforcement. Test results indicate that the shear capacity of test specimens varies with the foregoing variables except the composite ratio. The results are compared with strengths predicted using the equations of ACI 318-99, Zsutty, and Bazant. Based on this investigation, a method for predicting the shear strength of composite basement walls is proposed.

  • This paper is investigated the coupling effect in slab-wall structural system. An experimental investigation of reinforced concrete wall-slab structures were peformed. For the purpose of this study slab-wall substructures of an apartment building were chosen. And two specimens with different aid ratios have been tested. There were subjected to reserved cyclic loading, consistent with coupling action, with increasing imposed inelastic deformations. From. the result of this test, 1) in slabs, the coupling stress are not uniform across the width, 2) cracks are tending to be concentrated in the regions near the inner edges of the walls, 3) the effective width used in previous theoretical or model studies may not be enough.

  • In this paper, relatively new slope reinforcing system using an anchored wall is presented. For practical design purposes a method of external and internal stability analyses of an anchored wall installed at the toe of the original unstable or quasi-stable slope is developed. And also Murray's full-scale test results are compared with the passive resistance of an anchor predicted by the present study. Finally a design example of reinforced slope using an anchored wall is analyzed, and the safety as well as benefits is compared with a method of changing the geometry of the original unstable slope.

  • This paper presents the results of finite element analysis on the seismic response of a soil-reinforced segmental retaining wall subjected to a prescribed earthquake record. The results of finite element analysis indicate that the maximum wall displacement occurs at the top, exhibiting a cantilever type of wall movement. Also revealed is that the increase in reinforcement force is more pronounced in the upper part of the reinforced zone, resulting in a more or less uniform distribution. None of the design guidelines appears to be able to correctly predict the dynamic force increase when compared with the results of finite element analysis. The calculation model adopted by the NCMA guideline, however, appears to compare better with the results of finite element analysis as well as field survey than the FHWA guideline. Based on the findings from this study, a number of implications to the current design methods are discussed.
