Altitude and Heading Correction of 3D Pedestrian Inertial Navigation

  • In this paper, we propose techniques to correct the altitude error and heading error of 3D Pedestrian Inertial Navigation (PIN). When a PIN is used to estimate the location of a pedestrian only with an Inetrial Measurement Unit (IMU) without infrastructure, there is a problem in that the location error gradually increases due to the limitation of the observability of the filter. To solve this problem without additional sensors, we propose two techniques in this paper. First, stair walking is recognized in consideration of the altitude difference that may occur during one step. If it is recognized as stair walking, only Zero-velocity UPdaTe (ZUPT) is performed, and if it is recognized as level walking, ZUPT + Altitude Damping (AD) is performed together to correct the altitude error. Second, the straight-line movement direction is calculated through the difference of the estimated position, and the heading error is corrected by matching this information with the link information of the digital map. By applying these techniques, it is verified through real tests that accurate three-dimensional location information of pedestrians can be estimated without infrastructure.

Intelligent robotic walker with actively controlled human interaction

  • In this study, we developed a robotic walker that actively controls its speed and direction of movement according to the user's gait intention. Sensor fusion between a low-cost light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensor and inertia measurement units (IMUs) helps determine the user's gait intention. The LiDAR determines the walking direction by detecting both knees, and the IMUs attached on each foot obtain the angular rate of the gait. The user's gait intention is given as the directional angle and the speed of movement. The two motors in the robotic walker are controlled with these two variables, which represent the user's gait intention. The estimated direction angle is verified by comparison with a Kinect sensor that detects the centroid trajectory of both the user's feet. We validated the robotic walker with an experiment by controlling it using the estimated gait intention.

  • As number of old and handicapped passengers is increasing in an aging society, it is becoming more and more important to provide safe and convenient subway interior design and direction. In this research, we study basic indispensable conditions for subway chair and propose a chair design direction for old and handicapped people considering their use. In this study, we elicit the rational result based on analysis of Seoul subway design direction. This study should be expanded into universal design for not only old people but also pregnant people and children. The chair for old people is needed to have side partitions and a safety bar for safe walking and to be made of soft materials which has some cushion.

  • Interactions with the environment do to firm, deny, or challenge the existing knowledge. People who suffer from the loss of the sight have difficulty conceiving the space and the direction as well as walking. In the study, it wanted to reveal that the border that Is provided as a transfer clue has psychological and functional meaning to the sight-disabled people under given circumstances. It suggests that there is another space among the physical borders and analyzes the utilization clue in the entry space, which is the first starting point that can transfer, and obstacle factors which may happen at that point. And, it also wanted to present the surrounding environmental improvement ways for walking which is smooth and confident based on them.

보행형 인발식 마늘수확기 개발 (Development of a Walking Garlic Harvester with Pulling Mechanism)

  • A 5-row walking garlic harvester with pulling mechanism was developed in the study, based upon a kinematical analysis and related preliminary field tests on the conventional garlic harvesting method. The harvesting efficiency of the developed harvester was more than 98% in the garlic field irrigated before harvesting, 80-85% in the field without irrigation. The harvesting performance of the harvester was 660∼825㎡/hr at the forward speed of harvester of 0.3m/s in the irrigated field before garlic harvesting. For proper garlic drying and collection, the harvester discharged the harvested garlic on the ground uniformly at the angles of 135。∼150。 to its forward direction with the garlic bulb's placing toward the harvester. In the field tests, it was recommended that the forward speed of the harvester be approximately less than 0.2m/s, and that the spacing of planting garlic seeds should be standardized in the future fur increasing its harvesting efficiency.

  • 이 연구는 광천소도읍의 중심가로인 '광천로'에서 이루어진 도시계획 도로 개설 및 가로 환경개선 사업에 현황과 그 결과를 분석하고, 침체된 소도읍 중심가로의 보행환경 개선을 위한 기본적인 계획 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 대상 가로인 광천로에 대한 현장조사 및 이용자 인터뷰를 통하여, 장애물로 인한 보행로의 협소, 불법광고시설물로 인한 미관훼손 등이 문제점으로 파악되었다. 보행환경 개선을 통한 중심가로 활성화를 위해서는 첫째, 보행자 중심의 가로환경 구축, 둘째, 가로경관 개선, 셋째, 보행 친화적 상가 계획 그리고 마지막으로 지역 개발요소와의 연계를 통한 가로의 계획이 필요하다.

베이비부머 집단을 위한 보행 운동용 스마트 워킹웨어의 디자인 방향 연구 (A Research on Design Direction for the Smart Walking Wear to Support Walking Exercise for the Baby Boomer Group)

  • 본 연구는 고령에 접어들고 있는 베이비부머 집단의 보행 운동용 스마트 스포츠웨어 및 스포츠 애플리케이션에 대한 수용태도를 분석하고 베이비부머 집단의 특성에 맞는 스마트 워킹웨어 및 연동 애플리케이션 개발방향을 제시하는 것이다. 연구 방법은 조사연구로 설문지법을 사용하였으며 측정 도구는 기존 스마트 스포츠웨어와 스포츠 애플리케이션의 디자인, 기능성 사용성에 대한 수용태도를 묻는 문항 등으로 구성되었으며, 조사대상은 50세 이상 65세 미만의 베이비부머 집단을 대상으로 진행됐다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 베이비부머 소비자들은 스마트 스포츠웨어의 기능 및 성능안전성에 대해 긍정적으로 인식하나 관리 및 내구성에 대한 우려가 있어 스마트 스포츠웨어의 내구성 및 편의성 개선방향 및 사후 처리에 대한 고려가 필요하다. 스포츠 애플리케이션의 경우 새로운 정보를 얻을 수 있는 교육적인 기능으로 인식하며, 인지용이성 및 접근성에 대해 젊은 세대에 비하여 어려움을 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 베이비부머 소비자의 보행운동용 워킹웨어의 디자인 및 기획방향으로는 '일반 스포츠웨어 디자인의 일상적 디자인', '소비자의 선호가 반영된 기능', '관리의 편의성 및 내구성을 높인 디자인' 등을, 보행운동용 애플리케이션의 기획 방향으로는 '쉬운 스포츠 애플리케이션 구성', '교육적 운동 콘텐츠 구성' 등을 제시하였다.

롤러 신발과 조깅 슈즈 신발 착용 후 보행 시 지면반력의 형태 비교 분석 (The Effects of Wearing Roller Shoes on Ground Reaction Force Characteristics During Walking)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare GRF characteristics during walking wearing jogging and roller shoes. Twelve male middle school students (age: $15.0{\pm}0.0\;yrs$, height: $173.6{\pm}5.0\;cm$, weight: $587.6{\pm}89.3\;N$) who have no known musculoskeletal disorders were recruited as the subjects. Kinematic data from six S-VHS camcorders(Panasonic AG456, 60 fields/s) and GRF data from two force platform; (AMII OR6-5) were collected while subjects walked wearing roller and jogging shoes in random order at a speed of 1.1 m/s. An event sync unit with a bright LED light was used to synchronize the video and GRF recordings. GRF data were filtered using a 20 Hz low pass Butterworth. digital filter and further normalized to the subject's body weight. For each trial being analyzed, five critical instants and four phases were identified from the recording. Temporal parameters, GRFs, displacement of center of pressure (DCP), and loading and decay rates were determined for each trial. For each dependent variable, paired t-test was performed to test if significant difference existed between shoe conditions (p <.05). Vertical GRFs at heel contact increased and braking forces at the end of initial double limb stance reduced significantly when going from jogging shoe to roller shoe condition. Robbins and Waked (1997) reported that balance and vertical GRF are closely related It seems that the ankle and knee joints are locked in an awkward fashion at the heel contact to compensate for the imbalance. The DCP in the antero-posterior direction for the roller shoe condition was significantly less than the corresponding value for the jogging shoe condition. Because the subjects tried to keep their upper body weight in front of the hip to prevent falling backward, the DCP for the roller shoe condition was restricted The results indicate that walking with roller shoes had little effect on temporal parameters, and loading and decay rates. It seems that there are differences in GRF characteristics between roller shoe and jogging shoe conditions. The differences in GRF pattern may be caused primarily by the altered position of ankle, knee, and center of mass throughout the walking cycle. Future studies should examine muscle activation patterns and joint kinematics during walking with roller shoes.

  • The baby makes very great strides in the first year of his life. The developmental principles may be summarised as follows : first, the continuous process from conception to maturity, second, the physical manifestation of neural maturation, third, the cephalocaudal direction, from proximal to distal, fourth generalized mass activity to specific individual responses, fifth, reflex dominance to integration. The stages of normal movement development an head control, rolling creeping(on belly), sitting crawling(on hands and on knees), standing and walking. The knowledge of normal movement development needs for the assessment treatment and management of C.N.S. injuried infant.

동인천 민자역사 활성화 방안에 관한 연구 (The study of Dong-Incheon private-invested station development)

  • Until now, Many papers were written by graduate school students and consultents about railway station as main consideration. But there is no paper about specific private-invested station development. So in this paper, Just consider limiting Dong-Incheon private-invested station on a noncompetitive point of view that also constructed as a part of railway station development. This paper will be referenced of private-invested station management and direction of development in Korail railway station development. Private-invested station development is actively drived to now after Seoul private-invested station in 1989 as Korail's first induced private capital. Dong-Incheon private-invested station also built in 1989 and operated to now, but it can't keep up with current market and can't meet changeable commercial business. So in this paper, comparing Dong-Incheon private-invested station with one of the successful private-invested stations which is youngdengpo private-invested station and seeking the improvement direction of Dong-Incheon private-invested station as considering Dong-Incheon private-invested station's floating, traffic system, walking line, the range of station, the development type, facilities, and other nation's developing cases.
