  • A theme park runs various programs to provide users entertainments. Among the programs of the theme park, amusement facilities are the most favorite ones used by the users. However, Since the waiting time of the amusement facilities becomes increasing due to the large number of the users, the satisfaction of the users is diminished heavily, To solve this problem, we propose a reservation system for amusement facility using near field communication. In the proposed system, a server appends the user to the waiting queue of the amusement facility when an user contacts the reader of an amusement facility using NFC, If an clock approaches to the time that the user will exploit the amusement facility, the server notifies to the user. The implemented reservation system has the benefit to provide the user chances to exploit other programs during the waiting time.

  • Customer satisfaction in retail stores are considerably affected by checkout services. Self-checkout counters have been installed in order to reduce waiting times at checkout in retail stores. However, it is uncertain whether the self-checkout lanes actually decrease the average waiting time of customers. Rather, there are some problems associated with self-checkout lanes such as theft or service failure due to technological problems. This study analyzes comparison between self-checkout and regular staffed-checkout lanes, based on the dataset collected from a retail store in Poland. As a result, we observe that the average transaction times were longer at the self-checkout lanes though fewer products were purchased than at the staffed-checkout lanes. In addition, the customers who buy more products tend to use self-checkouts less frequently. We also check that transaction times are proportional to the number of products customers purchase, and that both the time to scan one item and the fixed time related to checkout are significantly longer at the self-checkout counters. As there has been very few research on the effectiveness of self-checkouts, this study can be the first step to investigate managerial insights on checkout services in retail stores.

Too many booth can cause the inefficiency of the cost of labor. According to the Charter of Customer Service of Korail, on the other hand, 95% of passengers have to purchase a train ticket within 5 minutes. This study was designed to present a decision making model for the optimum number of ticket booth which can affect an efficient operation of train station and improvement of customer convenience. And, this paper shows the proper manpower of ticket booth and the change of customer waiting time by analyzing the arrival and ticket issuing time of passengers based on 'Queueing Theory'. However, it is insufficient to be generalized due to some limitations of analysis. This study will contribute to improve customer satisfaction by reducing the waiting time at the ticket booth. In addition, presenting the optimum number of booth is expected to have an effect on the increase of productivity and cost savings.

There were 200 sets of questionnaires issued and distributed to the students who are currently using school lunch programs. Only 168 sets were retrieved and processed statistically. 2 sets out of 168 questionnaires had to be thrown away because there were wrong entries of some questions, which made overall retrieving rate 83%. In this study, SPSS 10.0 , one of the statistical package programs, was used as an analyzing tool to make Frequency Analysis. To verify credibility, Cronbach's Alpha Element Analysis was done and T-test and ANOVA was also made. After Recurrence Analysis for elements of satisfaction regarding main factors that is considered to be important to customers, we found that importance of following factors: appearance of food, incongruity between main and side dishes, availability of seasonal food, availability of preferred menu, absence of food stock, waiting time, accessibility of food counters, space between chairs, presentation of a menu, food tray's shape, and color of food trays.
