This study is carried out experiments on various factors for improving the grade of low grade scheelite by Knelson concentrator prior to the main beneficiation process. Even though there are several gravity separators such as Jig, Spirals and etc. for rougher concentrate, the KC3 Knelson Concentrator was adopted to get better separation efficiency and beneficiating effects for pre-concentration of the low grade scheelite ore. The feed samples was prepared to minus 1mm in size by crushing and grinding. The important factors in the KC3 Knelson Concentrator test were examined in terms of the variations such as number of treatment, feed rate, rotation speed of bowl(G force), water flow rate, pre-removal of magnetic minerals, feed size and feed grade. According to the result of experiment, it shows that the important technical variations are limited in terms of number of treatment, feed rate, feed size and feed grade. The final result shows that the KC3 Knelson Concentrator obtains the scheelite pre-concentrate of about $3%WO_3$ grade and 90% recovery, respectively, from the feed containing about $0.8-1.0%WO_3$ grade.

The characteristics of the rare earth phosphors intensifying screen (LM-6, Grenex-8) as compared with $CaWO_4$ intensifying screen had been studied utilizing several common x-ray films, and found the following results. 1. Compared with the conventional CaWO4 intensifying screen, the rare earth phosphors intensifying screen was found to be more sensitive over to 1.26-3.47 times. So the radiation exposure could be reduced to 1/1.26 -1/3.47. 2. Sharpness as well as the film speed were both increased. So the motion blurring and geometrical unsharpness could be decreased. 3. In spite of that the film speed was increased, photographic contrast was kept up. Therefore, the more ideal film of greater latitude could be obtained. 4. The effects of the rare earth phosphors intensifying screen would be much increased as using with orthochromatic x-ray films.

For the selective catalytic reduction of NOx with ammonia (NH3-SCR), a V2O5WO3/TiO2 (VW/nTi) catalyst was prepared using V2O5 and WO3 on a nanodispersed TiO2 (nTi) support by simple impregnation process. The nTi support was dispersed for 0~3 hrs under controlled bead-milling in ethanol. The average particle size (D50) of nTi was reduced from 582 nm to 93 nm depending on the milling time. The NOx activity of these catalysts with maximum temperature shift was influenced by the dispersion of the TiO2. For the V0.5W2/nTi-0h catalyst, prepared with 582 nm nTi-0h before milling, the decomposition temperature with over 94 % NOx conversion had a narrow temperature window, within the range of 365-391 ℃. Similarly, the V0.5W2/nTi-2h catalyst, prepared with 107 nm nTi-2h bead-milled for 2hrs, showed a broad temperature window in the range of 358~450 ℃. However, the V0.5W2/Ti catalyst (D50 = 2.4 ㎛, aqueous, without milling) was observed at 325-385 ℃. Our results could pave the way for the production of effective NOx decomposition catalysts with a higher temperature range. This approach is also better at facilitating the dispersion on the support material. NH3-TPD, H2-TPR, FT-IR, and XPS were used to investigate the role of nTi in the DeNOx catalyst.

This study was focused on the effect of sintering additive and particle size on the low temperature sintering of $0.85CaWO_4-0.15SmNbO_4$ ceramics. With an increase of $CaV_2O_6$ content, the sintering temperature of the specimens was reduced from $1150^{\circ}C\;to\;800^{\circ}C$. The dielectric constant (K) and Qf value were increased with $CaV_2O_6$ content. These results are due to the enhancement of the density by the liquid phase sintering. Temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (TCF) was slightly shifted to the positive value with $CaV_2O_6$ content. Typically, K of 12.64, Qf of 23,106 GHz, TCF of $-34ppm/^{\circ}C$ were obtained for the specimens with 7 wt.% $CaV_2O_6$ sintered at $900^{\circ}C$ for 3 h.
This study focuses on the development of an alkaline leaching hydrometallurgy process for the recovery of tungsten from WC/Co hardmetal sludge, and an examination of the effect of the process parameters on tungsten recovery. The alkaline leaching hydrometallurgy process has four stages, i.e., oxidation of the sludge, leaching of tungsten by NaOH, refinement of the leaching solution, and precipitation of tungsten. The WC/Co hardmetal sludge oxide consists of $WO_3$ and $CoWO_4$. The leaching of tungsten is most affected by the leaching temperature, followed by the NaOH concentration and the leaching time. About 99% of tungsten in the WC/Co hardmetal sludge is leached at temperatures above $90^{\circ}C$ and a NaOH concentration above 15%. For refinement of the leaching solution, pH control of the solution using HCl is more effective than the addition of $Na_2S{\cdot}9H_2O$. The tungsten is precipitated as high-purity $H_2WO_4{\cdot}H_2O$ by pH control using HCl. With decreasing pH of the solution, the tungsten recovery rate increases and then decrease. About 93% of tungsten in the WC/Co hardmetal sludge is recovered by the alkaline leaching hydrometallurgy process.

A new full scale testing apparatus generically named the Wall of Wind (WoW) has been built by the researchers at the International Hurricane Research Center (IHRC) at Florida International University (FIU). WoW is capable of testing single story building models subjected up to category 3 hurricane wind speeds. Depending on the relative model and WoW wind field sizes, testing may entail blockage issues. In addition, the proximity of the test building to the wind simulator may also affect the aerodynamic data. This study focuses on the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) assessment of the effects on the quality of the aerodynamic data of (i) blockage due to model buildings of various sizes and (ii) wind simulator proximity for various distances between the wind simulator and the test building. The test buildings were assumed to have simple parallelepiped shapes. The computer simulations were performed under both finite WoW wind-field conditions and in an extended Atmospheric Boundary Layer (ABL) wind flow. Mean pressure coefficients for the roof and the windward and leeward walls served as measures of the blockage and wind simulator proximity effects. The study uses the commercial software FLUENT with Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes equations and a Renormalization Group (RNG) k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model. The results indicated that for larger size test specimens (i.e. for cases where the height of test specimen is larger than one third of the wind field height) blockage correction may become necessary. The test specimen should also be placed at a distance greater than twice the height of the test specimen from the fans to reduce proximity effect.
In this study, an experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of the concentrations of tryptone, an organic nitrogen supplement, and sodium tungstate on the growth of microbial and the production of acetic acid and ethanol in the culture of Clostridium ljungdahlii. Microbial growth increased by 144.6%, and ethanol and acetic acid production improved by 8.6% and 36.7%, respectively, when 2.5 g/L of tryptone was added to the medium of the control experiment (0 g/L tryptone). In the experiment with 1 µM Na2WO4·2H2O, which is 100 times higher than the condition of the medium used in the control experiment (0.01 µM Na2WO4·2H2O), there was no significant difference in microbial growth or total production of C2 metabolites, but ethanol production increased and acetic acid production decreased. As a result, the ethanol/acetic acid production ratio increased significantly from 0.24 in the control experiment to 0.56.
In many previous studies, monte carlo simulation is used to produce lead-free shielding sheet, and the possibility of radiation shielding capability and weight reduction is presented. But it is difficult to simulation for binder and micro-pores because of In fact it does not provide sufficient information necessary for the commercialization process. Therefore, in this paper, the results of radiation shielding capability corresponding to filling factor was presented by using the screen printing method to provide information on gel-paste required for the commercialization process. In this study, the geometric setup for evaluate of radiation shielding ability was designed to comply with IEC 61331-1:2014 and KS A 4025. In addition, radiation irradiation conditions were 100 kVp filtered with 2.0 mmAl total filtration was applied according to KS A 4021 standard. In this study, Pb $1270{\mu}m$, $BaSO_4$$3035{\mu}m$, $Bi_2O_3$$1849{\mu}m$ and $WO_3$$2631{\mu}m$ were analyzed based on ten value layer. Additionally, the filling factor was analyzed as $BaSO_4$ 38.6%, $Bi_2O_3$ 27.1%, $WO_3$ 30.15%. However, in the case of applying low-temperature high-pressure molding in the future, it is expected that the radiation shielding capability can be sufficiently improved by reducing the porosity while increasing the filling factor.
CuCl2-loaded V2O5-WO3/TiO2 catalyst showed excellent activity in the catalytic oxidation of elemental mercury to oxidized mercury even under SCR condition in the presence of NH3, which is well known to significantly inhibit the oxidation activity of elemental mercury by HCl. Moreover, it was confirmed that, when SO2 was present in the reaction gas together with HCl, excellent elemental mercury oxidation activity was maintained even though CuCl2 supported on the catalyst surface was converted to CuSO4. This is thought to be because not only HCl but also the SO4 component generated on the catalyst surface promotes the oxidation of elemental mercury. However, in the presence of SO2, the total mercury balance before and after the catalytic reaction was not matched, especially as the concentration of SO2 increased. In order to understand the cause of this, further studies are needed to investigate the effect of SO2 in the SnCl2 aqueous solution employed for mercury species analysis and the effect of sulfate ions generated on elemental mercury oxidation. It was confirmed that SO2 also promotes NOx removal activity, which is thought to be because the increase in acid sites by SO4 generated on the catalyst surface by SO2 facilitates NH3 adsorption. The composition change and structure of the components present on the catalyst surface under various reaction conditions were measured by XRD and XRF. These measurement results were presented as a rational explanation for the results that SO2 enhances the oxidation activity of elemental mercury and the NOx removal activity in this catalyst system.
