  • Recently, CV, CN-CV and CNCV-W cable are used for HVDC transmission and distribution cable. However, XLPE which is used as insulation layer of power cable has thermosetting properties. It is very difficult to recycling. In this paper, we prepared HDPE/EVA film, which the blending ratio are 80:20, 70:30, 60:40, 50;50 respectively for the purpose of recycling. Main factor such as electric field distribution and its resistivity in insulation system affected on insulation performance and reliability for HVDC applications. Therefore, electric field distribution formed by space charge and characteristics of volume resistivity was currently investigated. We suggest the possibility of utilization for HVDC insulation layer from the results.

  • In this paper, electric field distribution of dielectric sphere considering surface or volume resistivity is analysed by the use of rotational symmetric charge simulation method. We applied three methods such as ${\alpha},{\beta}$ modified $\beta$ method to check electric field calculation error. We find f method and modified $\beta$ method are suitable to simulate volume and surface resistivity respectively.

  • To improve mean-life and reliability of power cable, we have investigated volume resistivity and thermal conductivity showed by changing the content of acetylene black which is the component parts of semiconductive shield in underground power transmission cable. The sheets were primarily kneaded in their pellet form material samples for 5 minutes on rollers ranging between 70[$^{\circ}C$] and 100[$^{\circ}C$]. Then they were produced as sheets after pressing for 20 minutes at 180[$^{\circ}C$] with a pressure of 200[kg/cm]. The content of conductive acetylene black was the variable, and their contents were 20, 30 and 40[wt%], respectively. Volume resistivity of specimens was measured by volume resistivity meter after 10 minutes in the preheated oven of both $25\pm1[^{\circ}C]$ and $90\pm1[^{\circ}C]$. Thermal conductivity was measured by Nano Flash Diffusivity. The measurement temperatures of thermal conductivity using Nano Flash Diffusivity were both 25[$^{\circ}C$] and 55[$^{\circ}C$]. From these experimental results, volume resistivity was high according to an increase of the content of acetylene black. And thermal conductivity was increased to an increase of the content of acetylene black. And thermal conductivity were increased by heating rate because volume of materials was expanded according to rise in temperature.

  • In order to investigate the electrical properties for transformer oils, the dielectric properties and volume resistivity were made researches. To measure the characteristics of dielectric liquid, volume resistivity and dielectric loss, coaxial cylindrical liquid electrode was used, geometric capacitance was confirmed to 16[pF]. Highmegohm meter of VMG-1000 was used for measuring volume resistivity, the appling voltages were DC 100, 250, 500[V] in the temperature range of $20{\sim}100[^{\circ}C]$. Experiments for measuring the dielectric loss were performed at $20{\sim}120[^{\circ}C]$ in temperature range, $30{\sim}1.5{\times}10^5$[Hz] in frequency range and $300{\sim}1500$[mV] in voltage range and then, the result of experiment for the movement of carrier and the physical constants to contribute dielectric properties is introduced.

  • In this paper, the physical and volume resistivity properties of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) for ultra-high voltage investigated due to temperature dependence, and the measurement of volume resistivity used to highmegohm meter is measured from 1 to 30 minutes when the each applied voltage, for example, DC 100[V], 250[V], 500[V] and 1000[V] is applied, according to the step voltage application method. From FT-IR spectrum as an analysis of physical properties, a strong absorption in wavenumbers 700 to 730[$cm^{-1}$ /], 1456[$cm^{-1}$ /] and 2700 to 3000 [$cm^{-1}$ /] observed by the methyl groups(CH$_2$). From the analysis of DSC, the crystalline melting points of the specimen observed in the temperature 60[$^{\circ}C$] and 106.58[$^{\circ}C$].

  • Temperature dependency of resistivity of the carbon black-polyethylene composites below and above percolation threshold is studied based on the electrical conduction mechanism. Temperature coefficient of resistance of the composites below percolation threshold changed from minus to plus, increasing volume fraction of carbon black; this trend decreased with increasing volume fraction of carbon black. The temperature dependence of resistivity of the composites below percolation threshold can be explained with a tunneling conduction model by incorporating the effect of thermal expansion of the composites into a tunneling gap. Temperature coefficient of resistance of the composites above percolation threshold was positive and its absolute value increased with increasing volume fraction of carbon black. By assuming that the electrical conduction through percolating paths is a thermally activated process and by incorporating the effect of thermal expansion into the volume fraction of carbon black, the temperature dependency of the resistivity above percolation threshold has been well explained without violating the universal law of conductivity. The apparent activation energy is estimated to be 0.14 eV.

  • The electrical property of polymer matrix composites with added carbon powder is studied based on the temperature dependency of the conduction mechanism. The temperature coefficient of the resistance of the polymer matrix composites below the percolation threshold (x) changed from negative to positive at 0.20 < x < 0.21; this trend decreased with increasing of the percolation threshold. The temperature dependence of the electrical property(resistivity) of the polymer matrix composites below the percolation threshold can be explained by using a tunneling conduction model that incorporates the effect of the thermal expansion of the polymer matrix composites into the tunneling gap. The temperature coefficient of the resistance of the polymer matrix composites above the percolation threshold has a positive value; its absolute value increased with increasing volume fraction of carbon powder. By assuming that the electrical conduction through the percolating paths is a thermally activated process and by incorporating the effect of thermal expansion into the volume fraction of the carbon power, the temperature dependency of the resistivity above the percolation threshold can be well explained without violating the universal law of conductivity.

  • Woodceramics are new porous carbon materials obtained by carbonization of wood or woody materials impregnated with thermosetting resin in a vacuum furnace. This study examined the electrical properties of woodceramics made from thinned logs of Cryptomeria japonica as a use for electric articles. The summarized results were as follows: 1. The volume resistivity of woodceramics decreased with increasing density of woodceramics made from 3 type board. And the volume resistivity of woodceramics made from non- steamed board was somewhat higher than steamed board. 2. The consumption of electric power of woodceramics decreased with increasing density of woodceramics and resin contents made from 3 type board. And the consumption of electric power of woodceramics made from non-steamed board was somewhat higher than steamed board. 3. When the woodceramics were coated by silicon, the consumption of electric power increased about 7%.

  • The variation of electrical resistivity of silver particle-filled polymers with the volume percent of silver particles was investigated. Also, the relationships between the surface tension of polymer and dispersion effect of silver particles were studied to find the steep drop of electrical resisivity, in view of agglomerate morphology. The critical volume precent of silver particles varied depending on the polymer species and increased with the increasing surface tension of polymer. The steep variation of resistivity with the increasing temperature was explained with the expansion of polymer at the melting temperature of polymer. The conductive break down current increased with the increasing volume percent of silver particles in the Ag/LDPE system and that was attributed to heat of Joule taken througn the contact area between the silver particle.
