  • Electroglottography (EGG) is a simple and non-invasive technique for analyzing the vibratory patterns of the vocal folds by detecting impedance changes across the larynx. An abnormal electroglottogram is shown in patients who have a dysphagia associated with neuromuscular disorder. Electroglottography offers reliable informations for diagnosis of swallowing disorder and gives quantitative datas. The purpose of this study is to provide the normal value of electroglottography in normal adults. We took electroglottograms of 80 adults who have no problem in swallowing and utterance. EGG data were analyzed to find out the value of Pitch, Jitter and Closed quotient with a commercially available software. There were significant differences between a usual voice and loud voice in 3 measures on the EGG signalmean pitch, Avg. jitter, mean quotient. To get a proper electroglottography, phonation of a usual voice was better than a loud voice. Four measurements- S.D pitch, Avg. Jitter, Mean closed quotient, S.D closed quotient- were independent of sex for adult. Three measurements- Mean pitch, S.D pitch, Mean closed quotient - were independent of age for adult aged twenties to fifties. The Avg. Jitter of twenties appeared to be lower than those of forties and fifties. The S.D closed quotient of twenties appeared to be lower than those of thirties, forties and fifties.

  • In this paper, voice analysis is performed to propose a quantitative indication of withdrawal symptoms of smartphone addiction, applied to 20 males in their 20s. For this, their smartphones were confiscated during a certain period, and we collected samples of voice signals from them before and after that period. The pitch variation and intensity magnitude of the voice samples were used in the experiment to investigate their anxiety resulted from withdrawal symptoms. The experimental results showed an increase in pitch variation from 90% of samples, and a decrease in intensity magnitude from 95% of them. Finally, we carried out a study to find a statistical significance from the extracted experimental results through statistical analysis.

  • This study attempts to determine the fundamental frequency level of male and female voices that Koreans perceive as normal. Seventy-three college students majoring in Speech Pathology participated in the study on a voluntary basis. The subjects listened to a male voice with fundamental frequency of 60 Hz, 80 Hz, 100 Hz, 120 Hz, 140 Hz, 160 Hz, 180 Hz, and 200 Hz, and a female voice with fundamental frequency of 140 Hz, 160 Hz, 180 Hz, 200 Hz, 220 Hz, 240 Hz, 260 Hz, and 280 Hz. The PSOLA (Pitch Synchronous Overlap). method and harmonic modeling method of speech signal were used to change pitch in the 20 Hz interval. The voices were presented in a random order to prevent listener bias. The results were as follows; Firstly, $46.6\%$ judged male voice with 120 Hz as normal, and $19.2\%$ judged 140 Hz as normal, and another $19.2\%$ judged 160 Hz as normal. Secondly, $50.7\%$ perceived female voice with 220 Hz as normal, and $32.9\%\;and\;30.1\%$ responded to 200 Hz and 240 Hz, respectively. The problems and recommendations for a future investigation are discussed.

  • This paper deals with voice similarities between sisters who are supposed to have common physiological characteristics from a single biological mother. Nine pairs of sisters who are believed to have similar voices participated in this experiment. The speech samples obtained from one pair of sisters were eliminated in the analysis because their perceptual score was relatively low. The words were measured in both isolation and context, and the subjects were asked to read the text five times with about three seconds of interval between readings. Recordings were made at natural speed in a quiet room. The data were analyzed in pitch and formant frequencies using CSL (Computerized Speech Lab) and PCQuirer. It was found that data of the initial vowels are much more similar and homogeneous than those of vowels in other positions. The acoustic data showed that voice similarities are strikingly high in both pitch and formant frequencies. It is assumed that statistical data obtained from this experiment can be used as a guideline for modelling speaker identification and speaker verification.

  • Change of voice, espicially hoarseness show irregular vibration of vocal cord. So, computerized acoustic analysis has presented many acoustic parameters for objective evaluation of voice. We objectively investigated the vocal vibration of normal persons and hoarseness patients in Korea. The RAP(relative average perturbation), PPQ(pitch period perturbation quotient) and APQ(amplitude perturbation quotient) of normal persons were compared with that of hoarseness patients with multidimensional voice program for the possibility of distinguishing the pathologic vocal vibration from normal. Authors agree that RAP, PPQ and APQ showed interesting differences between the normal and the hoarseness patients by the multivariate statistical analysis. In conculusion, relative average perturbation, pitch period perturbation and amplitude perturbation quotient might be meangingful screening parameters distinguishing hoarseness patients from normal.

  • The scale of financial damages on voice fishing has not been decreased despite of national and social efforts to reduce the amounts of voice fishing damage. One of these reasons is a sophisticated and vernacular speech style that makes it difficult to recognize the offenders. Furthermore, nowadays, young men have intensively been deceived by not only sophisticated and vernacular speech style which is used the employer of real public offices but also obtained personal information. As a result, this lead directly to the financial damages of younger people who has a stronger judgement than older. For this, we investigated the comparison and analysis between the criminals of voice fishing and the same generation younger people for identifying voice features. The experiment was carried out based on the pitch, bandwidth of pitch, energy, speech speed and voice color for searching the difference of voice characteristics between the criminals of voice fishing and the same generation younger people since 2011. The experimental result shows that there is a significant difference in energy and speech speed between the criminals of voice fishing and the same generation younger people.

  • In this paper we make a rule of pitch variation for a natural synthetic female voice. Intonation phrase, which is the basic unit the rule is applied to, mostly consists of a syllable or syllables. The pitch values of the first, second, and final syllables make up the pitch contour of the intonation phrase. Those of the first and second syllable are determined by the initial consonants of the respective syllables, and that of the final syllable by the type of the function word. There are two kinds of boundaries between intonation phrases. One is a boundary with pause, and the other is a boundary without pause. The pitch contour of the intonation phrase with the boundary phenomena determines the pitch pattern of a sentence.

  • Tele-marketing service has been provided through voice media in a several places such as modern call centers. In modern call centers, they are trying to measure their service quality, and one of the measuring method is a extracting speaker's feeling information in their voice. In this study, it is proposed to analyze speaker's voice in order to extract their feeling information. For this purpose, a person's feeling is categorized by analyzing several types of signal parameters in the voice signal. A person's feeling can be categorized in four different states: joy, sorrow, excitement, and normality. In a normal condition, excited or angry state can be major factor of service quality. In this paper, it is proposed to select a conversation with problems by extracting the speaker's feeling information based on pitches and amplitudes of voice.

  • Voice conversion technology is essential for TTS systems because the construction of speech database takes much effort. In this paper. male-to-female voice conversion technology in Korean LPC TTS system has been studied. In general. the parameters for voice color conversion are categorized into acoustic and prosodic parameters. This paper adopts LSF(Line Spectral Frequency) for acoustic parameter, pitch period and duration for prosodic parameters. In this paper. Pitch period is shortened by the half, duration is shortened by $25\%, and LSFs are shifted linearly for the voice conversion. And the synthesized speech is post-filtered by a bandpass filter. The proposed algorithm is simpler than other algorithms. for example, VQ and Neural Net based methods. And we don't even need to estimate formant information. The MOS(Mean Opinion Socre) test for naturalness shows 2.25 and for female closeness, 3.2. In conclusion, by using the proposed algorithm. male-to-female voice conversion system can be simply implemented with relatively successful results.

  • These days, many people live a healthy life, but suffering caused by chronic diseases. The main factors of chronic diseases are stress, blood pressure and obesity. Chronic diseases which are caused by high blood pressure are very high incidence. Therefore, this paper suggests the ways to prevent as diagnosis a phenomenon that occur rising in blood pressure consistently by analyzing the voice according th rising in blood pressure. For this, I studied some influence on voicing through rising in blood pressure by applying pitch that measure vocal fold vibration and intensity that measure voice energy size that is one of technique. That collect and analyse the voice after rising blood pressure by aerobic exercise.
