  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of menswear designers and the process of becoming a menswear designer expert through qualitative evaluation and statistical analysis. This study used ten menswear designers with more than fifteen years of experience. After going through the University P IRB approval process, a semi-structured questionnaire was prepared and individual in-depth face-to-face or video interviews were conducted from March 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021. From this qualitative study examining the characteristics of menswear designer job experience, four key themes were found: the competence required for the professionalization process of menswear designers; the creative sensibility of menswear designers; the uniqueness of menswear designers' work; basic education required for menswear designers. In order to find additional meaningful implications using the visual analysis technique, we examined the primary vocabulary using the word cloud technique and examined the relationship between the vocabulary using the network graph. In the follow-up study, we expect to develop a material-oriented education program for new menswear designers and to resolve the limitations of the study, targeting a small number of experienced menswear designers.

  • Crowdfunding has emerged as an important financing source for diverse cultural projects and commercial ventures in the early stages. Unlike traditional investment evaluation, where structured financial data is critical, such information is typically unavailable for crowdfunding campaigns. Instead, campaign creators prepare pitches containing essential information about themselves and the campaigns, which are crucial in attracting and persuading contributors. Prior literature has examined the effects of different aspects in campaign pitches, but a comprehensive understanding of the theme is lacking. This study aims to fill this gap by identifying the lexicon of frequently used vocabulary in campaign pitches and examining how they are associated with crowdfunding success. Moreover, we examine how the association differs between culture and commercial crowdfunding campaigns. We randomly collected 50,000 campaigns from the cultural and commercial categories on Kickstarter and extracted the 100 most used verbs in the campaign pitches. Based on a machine learning approach combined with principal component analysis, we constructed sets of verbal factors statistically significant in predicting crowdfunding success. The findings also show that cultural and commercial campaigns consist of different verbal components with different effects on crowdfunding success.

  • The purpose of this study was to seek strengths and weaknesses from analyzing Korea and U.S. science textbooks in terms of general structural features, contents, cognitive levels of questions and the purpose of questions used in science textbooks. This provided insight into improvement of textbooks that can effectively assist teaching and learning. To investigate organization of unit in textbooks in-depth, the evolution unit was selected and scrutinized as one example. The results showed that the number of pages, activities, vocabulary words, and vocabulary lists are considerably different between Korean and the U.S. Commonly, U.S. textbooks were more laden with information and lacking in coherence than those of the Korean textbooks. The findings on the cognitive levels of questions showed that the majority of questions in both nations are concerned with knowledge. However, the difference between the two nations is great in the ratios of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation questions. Questions are concentrated in review section (45% of Korean and 60.6% of U.S.) in textbooks. It suggested that well-planned questions in a review section can provide the basic guidance for strength in a science classroom.

  • Kim et al. Proposed Normalized Confidence Measure (NCM) [1-2] and it was successfully used for rejecting mis-recognized words in isolated word recognition. However their experiments were performed on the fixed word speech recognition. In this Paper we apply NCM to the domain of vocabulary independent speech recognition (VISP) and shows the rejection Performance of NCM in VISP. Specialty we Propose vector quantization (VQ) based method for overcoming the problem of unseen triphones. It is because NCM uses the statistics of triphone confidence in the case of triphone-based normalization. According to speech recognition experiments Phone-based normalization method shows better results than RLJC[3] and also triphone-based normalization approach. This results are different with those of Kim et al [1-2]. Concludingly the Phone-based normalization shows robust Performance in VISP domain.

  • In indexing and organizing Web resources, there have been two basic methods: automatic indexing by extracting key words and library classification schemes or subject directories of search engines. But, both methods have failed to satisfy the user's information needs, due to the lack of standard criteria and the irrationality of its structural system. In this paper I have examined the limits of library classification scheme's structures and the problems related to the nature of Web resources such as specificity and exhaustivity. I have also attempted to explain the logicality of Web resources organization by facet analysis and its strengths and limitations. In so doing, I have proposed three specific methods in using facet analysis: firstly, indexing system by facet analysis; secondly, the alternative transformation of the enumerative classification scheme into facet classification scheme; and finally, the facet model of subject directory of domestic search engine. After examining the three methods, my study concludes that a controlled vocabulary by facet analysis can be employed as a useful method in organizing Web resources.

  • This paper focuses on the terminology of the dictionary as an encyclopedic element in the Buddhist language. The previous study on Buddhist language can be divided into a philosophical approach to the language itself, a review of the linguistic perspective of a specific monk, and a linguistic examination of the Buddhist language. The linguistic examination of the Buddhist language is further divided into analysis of certain Buddhist scriptures, and a study of vocabulary used throughout the Buddhist sphere. The Buddhist vocabulary in the existing Korean dictionary is found in specialized areas such as name, place name, history, and Buddhism. By advancing the generalized words of the terminologies, the meanings of the terminologies and the general words are described as polysemy. It is possible to identify the degree of transition from terminology to general word depending on the distribution of senses. In the case of Buddhist vocabulary, the usage as a general language and as a Buddhist term was given priority, and vocabulary was also derived from a Buddhist term, although it was described as a general language. If a dictionary is changed according to the language unit it contains, the difference in a Buddhist terminology for each dictionary, and a conflict between the existing academic research result and the prior description, will need to be resolved through the collaboration of religious experts, linguists, and lexicographers.

  • This study is generally purposed to develop a mobile augmentative and alternative communication system (hereinafter referred to as 'a mobile AAC system'). Also the device is aimed as a mobile AAC system for helping communication of persons who suffer from speech disorders in a free and convenient manner. One thing firstly considered for a successful AAC system is selection of vocabularies. For this purpose, the above researchers collected utterances in actual situations to select vocabularies of higher frequencies. For generation of sentences by maximizing the use of limited space in the AAC system, this study specifically presents a method of predicting predictions. This method includes selecting vocabulary and classifying it by domains so as to meet the characteristics of the mobile AAC communication, using a noun thesaurus for semantic analysis, and building a sub-category dictionary. Predicting predicates by selecting symbols in accordance with this method is tested and the utility thereof is confirmed.

  • The purpose of the present study is to compare Korean EFL learners' speech corpus (i.e. oral productions) with their composition corpus (i.e. written productions). Four college students participated in the study. The composition corpus was collected through a writing assignment, and the speech corpus was gathered by audio-taping their oral presentations. The results of the data analysis indicate that (i) As for error frequency, young adult low-intermediate Korean EFL learners showed high frequency in determiners (mostly, indefinite articles), vocabulary (mostly, semantic errors), and prepositions. The frequency order did not show much difference between the speech corpus and the composition corpus; and (ii) When comparing the oral productions with the written productions, there were not many differences between them in terms of the contents, a style (i.e., colloquial vs. literary), vocabulary selection, and error types and frequency. Therefore, it is assumed that the proficiency in oral presentation of EFL learners at this learning stage heavily depends on how much/how well they are able to write. In other words, EFL learners' writing and speaking skills are closely co-related. It implies that the teacher does not need to separate teaching how to speak from teaching how to write. The teacher may use the same methods or strategies to help the learners improve their English speaking and writing skills. Furthermore, it will be more effective to teach writing before speaking since they have more opportunities to write than speak in the EFL contexts.

  • In this paper, we have implemented speeches that utilized the emotion information of the user's speech and image matching and recommendation system. To classify the user's emotional information of speech, the emotional information of speech about the user's speech is extracted and classified using the PLP algorithm. After classification, an emotional DB of speech is constructed. Moreover, emotional color and emotional vocabulary through factor analysis are matched to one space in order to classify emotional information of image. And a standardized image recommendation system based on the matching of each keyword with the BM-GA algorithm for the data of the emotional information of speech and emotional information of image according to the more appropriate emotional information of speech of the user. As a result of the performance evaluation, recognition rate of standardized vocabulary in four stages according to speech was 80.48% on average and system user satisfaction was 82.4%. Therefore, it is expected that the classification of images according to the user's speech information will be helpful for the study of emotional exchange between the user and the computer.
