  • The emotional information processing is to simulate and recognize human sensibility, sensuality or emotion, to realize natural and harmonious human-machine interface. This paper proposes an emotion-based image retrieval method. In this method, user can choose a linguistic query among some emotional adjectives. Then the system shows some corresponding representative images that are pre-evaluated by experts. Again the user can select a representative one among the representative images to initiate traditional content-based image retrieval (CBIR). By this proposed method any CBIR can be easily expanded as emotion-based image retrieval. In CBIR of our system, we use several color and texture visual descriptors recommended by MPEG-7. We also propose a fuzzy similarity measure based on Choquet integral in the CBIR system. For the communication between system and user, a relevance feedback mechanism is used to represent human subjectivity in image retrieval. This can improve the performance of image retrieval, and also satisfy the user's individual preference.

  • Most previous studies, in general, related to housing needs have analyzed the data from self-administered survey or interview using questionnaire or simple 2D floor plan. This study was Intended to suggest how to increase the reliability and effectiveness of such survey methods in examining the residents' housing needs. In order to accomplish the purpose, the two kinds of surveys using Web based VR media and typical questionnaire were peformed. The same questions were used for these two surveys, and they included the furniture characteristics, use of each room, adjustment of room size, preferences for interior colors, preferred furniture in living room, space layout of floor plan, housing life style, and preference for housing characteristics. The answer differences between these two were analyzed. The subjects were 402 housewives who lived in apartment houses in Haeundae, Busan. Finding were as follows: first, the media method was more likely to be effective than typical questionnaire survey in explaining housing needs for the adjustment of room size in housing unit plan. Second, the media method was more realistic and reliable than the other in comprehending the needs for the interior colors. Last, the VR media tended to be more effective than the other in understanding the space layout of floor plan. This research sheds light on the utilization of visual instrument for the analysis of needs related to space use.

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to survey the viewpoints on the material safety data sheets(MSDS) training for safety and health managers(SHMs) and workers. Subjects and Methods: A surveillance was made using a self-reported questionnaire for 78 SHMs and 122 workers to survey their viewpoints on the MSDS training. Survey results were analyzed using the SPSS program(Version 12.0 SPSS Inc., USA). Results: The result of the study shows that there are contrasts with the cognition of SHMs' and workers' on the education of MSDS and the program preference for education efficiency of MSDS. Workers were significantly more interested in the MSDS education than the SHMs did. Workers preferred the education program which is easily to be understood, to voluntarily participate on MSDS education, but SHMs did the quiz program. Also we found that the SHMs wanted to learn the education program via the expert(37.3%) rather than education resources(33.3%) which were served by government or relevant agency. In contrast, workers wanted the audio-visual education program, which is mainly consisted of accident cases (33.3%), rather than periodical education program(22.1%). Conclusions: This study showed that effectiveness of MSDS education was associated with the program served by company, and the education program for the voluntary participation of the workers should be made practical and attractive.

  • Sensory attributes and preferences that contribute to consumer satisfaction with artificial leather were measured by subjective evaluation, and subjective hand and preferences were analyzed in relation to its use. Using tactile and visual senses, 50 experts in fashion and textile industry evaluated leathers classified into two categories, suede and polyurethane coated, according to different manufacturing methods. They answered questions on subjective hand and preferences of different artificial leathers of various fashion items (jackets, purses, bags, shoes, boots, furniture, etc.), using specific adjectives to describe the hand properties. As a result, it was found that the subjective hand properties of artificial leathers were related to 'Thickness', 'Fullness/softness', 'Surface contour', 'Stickiness', and 'Elasticity'. The leather type from different manufacturing methods influenced their perceived hand and preferences relating to use. By use, different hands were preferred. The preferences for jackets and furniture of suede type leathers were related to their surface properties, whereas the preferences for items of the other type of leathers were associated with their resilience. On the other hand, in the case of polyurethane coated leathers, the preferences for jackets were significantly affected by their thickness, while those for the other items were influenced by their resilience and surface properties.

  • This paper surveys improvement characteristics in muscle fatigue with bio-activity material imbedded fabric. For this purpose, the subjects wear the garment which is covered by bio-activity materials all over every day during 2 weeks of experimental period. After 2 weeks period, VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) index evaluation regarding muscle fatigue and pain has been conducted in comparison between before wearing and after so that we can evaluate the effect on muscle fatigue improvement. The effectiveness survey for testing products consists of improvement on krunkle, muscle fatigue and exercise capacity. As a result, 100% of test subject group completes a questionnaire with positive answer as above normal in every question. In addition the preference of testing products is researched in wearing comfort, activity and convenience. And it is marked above normal by 100% of test subject group as well. Moreover any kind of unusual skin reaction has not been detected in safety evaluation. Therefore this testing products is being judged as a beneficent product for improvement on muscle fatigue without any skin irritation.

D. 2000 in the view of the culture-diffusion theory, and analyze its effect to the fashion style of the new young generation of China. In this theses, Hanliu phenomenon means the enthusiasm of Asian people for Korean mass cultures such as Korean dramas, pop songs and fashions from late 1990's. This research adopts two kinds of methods for analyzing Hanliu phenomenon: a qualitative research method and a quantitative one. As a qualitative research method, we analyzed Hanliu phenomenon with several sources of documentaries and audio-visual materials on it. As a quantitative research method, we conducted a survey of about 100 university students in Beijing for how they feel of korean culture and fashions. The Hanliu phenomenon leads to the popularity of Korean products and the general Korean cultures. Also, it affected the Chinese young generation so much that the Korean fashion becomes popular among them. Its effects to the fashion styles of Chinese youths can be summarized in three factors as follows. Firstly, the fashions of Korean entertainers such as H.O.T hair style and Hip-hop fashion style are widely imitated. Secondly, the preference of Korean fashion products has been widely increased. The number of stores dealing with Korean fashion products has been increased. Finally, Korean culture and products have actively been imitated in China according to the increased popularity of Korean fashion products.
