While we interact with other people or objects, the brain continuously updates our own body schema to recognize the agent of observed actions. The Extrastriate Body Area (EBA) provides an initial interface for the sense of agency by integrating visual inputs of body parts with internal signals related to self-generated body movements. Less is known, however, about how the functional use of tools contributes to such processes. Here, we investigated whether tool-specific affordance would differentially affect the neural responses in the EBA depending on the agency of imaginary actions. In each trial we presented a picture of an object in a rectangular frame. Objects were either the tools typically brought towards the body (body tools; e.g., telescope, earphones) or away from the body (world tools; e.g., pen, dice; Rueschemeyer, Pfeiffer, & Bekkering, 2010). Depending on the color of the frame, participants imagined either themselves or the other person using the tool (self vs. other conditions). These four types of trials were randomly intermixed with blank trials. As results, independently localized right EBA regions of interest showed greater activation when participants imagined themselves using body tools than using world tools whereas no such differential activations were found when they imagined the other person using the tools. The postscan test revealed no significant difference in vividness of imagery between the self and other conditions. Our results suggest that the EBA incorporates functional affordance of tools into the body schema in order to enhance the sense of agency and to guide our own actions.

This research is primarily intended to develop a decision-making support system about the natural environment in the country by integrating various formats of spatial data into a comprehensive GIS database. The first part of the research is to design GIS database as a means of combining thematic cartographic data with field survey records. Ecosystem records acquired by a field sampling have been reproduced as digital thematic maps. The database also included various natural environment related data (map for forestry, soil, national park etc.) collected from many other agencies. The second part of the research is devoted to the design of efficient man-machine interfaces. A key concern in the GUI (graphic user interface) design process was to address the need to handle and to manage large databases by non-GIS experts. The system has been checked experimentally, enabled the users to quarry the data required simply and execute spatial analysis accommodating versatile alternatives in decision-making process. Detailed visual maps can be generated over large areas quickly and easily. The system will serve to increase the scientific and objective decision-making by overcoming serious constraints suffered from the past non-GIS-based approach. It is anticipated that this research output could be used as a valuable reference in building a nationwide natural environment GIS-DB (database) in the central and local governments.

Among the methods of developing tourist spots and culture as the experience contents, it is a common method to display high-quality video images on a large display, and it is necessary to make a special difference between the participant's active participation and the visual experience in other regions. In this paper, using the single molecular OLED and active type, the regional tourist spots blend transparent OLED dual-layer display systems with the extended image implementation and augmented interaction techniques to give the participants a real-world experience, such as directing to new experiences and beautiful sights. In this paper, additional images and UI layers are applied to the layers of the images to allow visitors to experience sightseeing information, weather, maps, accommodations, festivals and photo materials with image. In addition to the dual-layer system, it also added a multi-display system that additionally has one vertical 55-inch display on each side, adding to the experience the immersive experience and interface interlocking fun. By using transparent OLED, dual layer panel and 3-channel Multi-image playback technique, the augmented type experience contents which can experience the local attractions in Jeollanamdo province in Korea at all time without any limitation of time and space were developed.

A main objective of audio equalizer is for user to tailor acoustic frequency response to increase sound comfort and example applications of audio equalizer includes large-scale audio system to portable audio such as mobile MP3 player. Up to now, all the audio equalizer requires manual setting to equalize frequency bands to create suitable sound quality for each genre of music. In this paper, we propose an intelligent audio graphic equalizer system that automatically classifies the music genre using music content analysis and then the music sound is boosted with the given frequency gains according to the classified musical genre when playback. In order to reproduce comfort sound, the musical genre is determined based on two-step hierarchical algorithm - coarse-level and fine-level classification. It can prevent annoying sound reproduction due to the sudden change of the equalizer gains at the beginning of the music playback. Each stage of the music classification experiments shows at least 80% of success with complete genre classification and equalizer operation within 2 sec. Simple S/W graphical user interface of 3-band automatic equalizer is implemented using visual C on personal computer.
Low-velocity impact can cause various damages which are mostly hidden inside the laminates or occur in the opposite side. Thus, these damages cannot be easily detected by visual inspection or conventional NDT systems. And if they occurred between the scheduled NDT periods, the possibilities of extensive damages or structural failure can be higher. Due to these reasons, the built-in NDT systems such as real-time impact monitoring system are required in the near future. In this paper, we studied the impact monitoring system consist of impact location detection and damage assessment techniques for composite flat and stiffened panel. In order to acquire the impact-induced acoustic signals, four multiplexed FBG sensors and high-speed FBG interrogator were used. And for development of the impact and damage occurrence detections, the neural networks and wavelet transforms were adopted. Finally, these algorithms were embodied using MATLAB and LabVIEW software for the user-friendly interface.
The health of feet is connected with individual's health and affects a man's activity. Shoes need to be designed to protect feet and to absorb the impact of land. Thus, design, comfort and economical efficiency are important factors of shoes. Consumers can choose suitable shoes for their feet in off-line shopping. However, in on-line shopping, because they can not wear shoes, compare to the off-line shopping, there are many problems in internet shopping. First, consumers can get limited information of shoes because they must search information of purchase without other's help. Second, because consumers can not get important information such as design, size and a comfort of wearing, they can not make a careful decision. Above these, the solution of user-oriented internet shopping is development of new type of prototype which is accessible to user and to offer visual information through 3D virtual reality.
Mitologia is about visualizing relations of information in user-oriented method. Most information given in life has invisible relations with each other. By analyzing the common characters and relations of information, we can not only measure the importance of the information but also grasp the overall properties of the information. Especially human relations are the major concerns of social network having several visualization methodologies shown by analyzing relations of each individual in society. We applied social network theory to grasp relationships between characters in Greek mythology representing a limited society. But the current tools of social network analysis have limits that they show the information one-sided way because of the ignorance of user-oriented design. Mitologia attempts to suggest the visual structure model more effective and easy to understand in analyzing data. We extracted connections among myth characters by evaluating classes, frequencies of appearance and emotional links they have. And we raised the understanding of users with furnishing the proper interaction to the information. The initial interface offers 4 kinds of indexes helping to access character nodes easily, while zoom-in function can be used for the detailed relations. The Zoom-in is quite different from usual filtering methods. It makes the irrelative information invisible so that users can find out the characters' relation more easily and quickly. This project suggests the layout to show overall information relationships and the appropriate interactions to present detailed information at the same time.
The ways to interact with digital appliances are becoming more diverse. Users can control appliances using a remote control and a touch-screen, and appliances can send users feedback through various ways such as sound, voice, and visual signals. However, there is little research on how to define which output method to use for providing feedback according to the user' input method. In this study, we designed an experimental study that seeks to identify how to appropriately match the output method - voice and sound - based on the user input - voice and button. We made four types of interaction with two kinds input methods and two kinds of output methods. For the four interaction types, we compared the usability, perceived satisfaction, preference and suitability. Results reveals that the output method affects the ease of use and perceived satisfaction of the input method. The voice input method with sound feedback was evaluated more satisfying than with the voice feedback. However, the keying input method with voice feedback was evaluated more satisfying than with sound feedback. The keying input method was more dependent on the output method than the voice input method. We also found that the feedback method of appliances determines the perceived appropriateness of the interaction.
Urban Data collected through Sensor Network is becoming crucial to understand and analyse a city. Thus, the Ubiquitous Sensor Network builds the foundation of the u-City development. This research aims to develop an energy monitoring application with an intuitive visualization environment which integrates energy usage information on top of urban geospatial information. Such a system will be able to facilitate effective energy supply plan at the early stages of urban planning, and eventually to encourage citizens to conserve energy by giving them real time monitoring information in an easy to understand visual environment. The system provides multiple layers of energy-related information coupled with the geospatial information layer in order to accommodate multiple viewpoints. On the other hand, the system provides logical Level of Detail control based on urban spatial information hierarchy. We defined the system concept and functions, and designed the data structure and the methods of information visualization. This paper presents the visualization methods, data structure, interactions scenarios which combines spacial information, E-GIS data and the energy related sensor data. Furthermore this research tries to introduce the concept of Social Sensor Networking to enhance the monitoring quality.

The digital convergence looking for new ways to engage visitors by superimposing virtual content on projection over the real world captured media contents. This paper propose the Light ID based interactive 3D immersive exhibition things view using HMD AR technology. This approach does not required to add any additional infrastructure to be built-in to enable service and uses the installed Lighting or displays devices in the exhibit area. In this approach, the Light ID can be used as a Location Identifier and communication medium to access the content unlike the QR Tag which supports provide the download information through web interface. This utilize the advantages of camera based optical wireless communication (OWC) to receive the media content on smart device to deliver immersive 3D content visualization using AR. The proposed exhibition method is emulated on GALAXY S8 smart phone and the visual performance is evaluated for Jeonju Hanok Village. The experimental results shows that the proposed method can give immersive 3D view for exhibit things in real-time.
