Computer-Interfacing Development for Propeller-Anemometer

  • A Propeller-Anemometer is an instrument used specifically, to measure the wind speed. The accurate measurement of the wind speed is vitally important such required by any weather stations. In this research, the measurand of the instrumentation was the rotational speed of the propeller and the instrumentation result or output data was wind velocity. The speed measured was recorded digitally in the computer by using specific software. A specific sensor used to measure a variable by converting information of the variable (rotational speed of the propeller) into a dependent signal such as electrical signal in form of voltage. The development of Propeller-Anemometer involved few sets of instrumentation process and equipment. It included three major parts, mechanical, electronics and computer. The main instrumentation processes were physical and signal interfacing, signal conditioning, logic interfacing, data transmission to computer and processing the data. Generally, this paper presents the overall concept and design of Propeller-Anemometer Instrumentation. However, an emphasis was mainly in designing and building the interfacing system, hardware and software. Basically, for the first phase of the development, this project designed and built the RS232 terminal using Peripheral Interface Controller (PIC), PIC16F873. The hardware can be interfaced to computer or other compatible devices. This routine converted input voltage from the circuit to speed (velocity) and transmitted them afterwards to the target device by using the RS232 transmission protocol. This implementation implied a computer display as visual interface. For the purpose of this paper, RS232 data transmission was carried out using a Microsoft Visual Basic software routine.

  • 본 논문는 대학 정책성 프로그램 중심으로 CIM 인터페이스 구성을 통한 대학 홍보 적합성 여부에 역점을 두고 서술하게 되었다. 대학 홍보에 있어 CIM 인터페이스 기법은 시각 요건에 의한 표현 방식을 뜻한다. 표현 방식의 시각 요소들에 의한 콘텐츠(Contents), 디자인(Image), 마케팅(Marketing) 전략 여하에 따라 대학 홍보에 대안을 찾게 되었다. 사용자 정보 제공을 위한 컨슈머 콘텐츠 적용은 사용자들에게 참여를 유도할 수 있는 역할을 채널 형식으로 제공할 수 있게 해주었다. 인포메이션 디자인 구성은 콘텐츠의 일관성을 접목시켜 정보 구조를 시각적 표현 방식으로 유지시킬 수 있게 되었다. 시각적 표현 체계적 구성은 대학 홍보의 브랜딩 전략으로 활용할 수 있는 마케팅통합수립(IMC)를 통해 실행 방안을 모색할 수 있었다. 이렇듯 진행 과정과 연계성을 통해 대학 홍보에 효율성을 높일 수 있는 방법론을 규명 할 수 있게 되었다.

  • The greenhouse control system is designed by personal computer. This system should observe and control the growth conditions for crops in both plastic film and glass greenhouses. In this contribution puts emphasis on graphical user interface for greenhouse control system by personal computer under the aim of creating safer, more effective and more economical services. This system is developed for the requirements of the intelligent greenhouse control system and gives a lot of convenience for farmer who is not familiar with pc technique. The GUI and control system are programmed by Visual C++ and Visual Basic.

  • This paper presents an authoring system for users to create and edit multimedia documents more easily. Our system supports dynamic authoring to feedback the inconsistency that could be occurred when users authorize and flexible media synchronization. For these, we define a new time relation based on causal relation and provide an internal representation using trees and structured document parsing. The system consists of the components such as visual interface, parsing, and presentation engine. It has been implemented on Microsoft Windows 95 with Visual C++.

  • 다양한 과학 분야와 공학 분야에서는 그들이 다루고 있는 특정한 주제의 정보를 좀 더 신속하고, 명확하게 사용자에게 전달하기 위해서 여러 가지 정보 가시화(information visualization) 기법을 사용한다. 정보를 가시화 할 때는 기본적으로 세 가지 과정을 거치는데, 원천 데이터(raw data)로부터 데이터 모델(data model)로 변환하고, 변환된 데이터 모델을 가시화 구조상(visual structure)에 매핑(mapping)시킨 후 정보화 모델(information model)로 변환하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 특정 행사가 진행되고 있는 건물내부에서 발생하는 시간, 공간적인 정보를 정리한 도표 메타포(table metaphor)를 토대로, 해당 데이터 모델로부터 추출한 다양한 정보를 3 차원 지도로 구성된 정보화 모델 상에 반영하기 위한 방법을 제안하였다. 또한, 정보를 단순히 공간상에 반영하기 보다는 사용자의 관심영역(interest area)에 따른 정보의 공간적 의미에 중점을 두어 3차원 공간상에 표현하였다.

  • In recent years, the concern about a user center design in increasing, and it's needed to task a user's visual cognitive characteristics for information presentation. Then this study aims to grasp user's cognitive characteristics about the information presentation by analyzing the fixation points. In the experiment, actually subject operated a copy machine. Recorded the fixation point movement of the operation panel by the eye mark recorder. Analysis examined the screen interface of the operation panel from the field of a fixation point trace. The top down type fixation oder by experience or the context became clear as a result. Furthermore, the difference of the fixation order by skill level was also examined. In this study, it was assumed that to grasp the visual cognitive characteristics becomes the key of efficient information.

틸팅 차량용 시뮬레이터 적용을 위한 통제 및 가상현실 영상 시스템 개발 (Development of a Control and Virtual Realty Visual System for the Tilting Train Simulator)

  • This paper presents a development of the control and the virtual reality visual system for a tilting train simulator. The user of the tilting train simulator is able to set up the environmental and operating conditions through the user interface provided by the control system. In the control system, an arbitrary track which has user-defined curve radius, length and direction can be generated. The virtual reality visual system provides an artificial environment that is composed of several facilities such as station, platform, track, bridge, tunnel and signaling system. In order to maximize the reality, all of the 3D modeling were based on the real photographs taken in the Jungang line. A dome screen with 1600mm diameter was used to maximize the view angle. The hemispherical screen can ensure the view angle of the 170 degrees of vertical direction and 135 degrees of lateral direction.

INFLUENCE OF PROVIDING BODY SENSORY INFORMATION AND VISUAL INFORMATION TO DRIVER ON STEER CHARACTERISTICS AND AMOUNT OF PERSPIRATION IN DRIFT CORNERING

  • Driving simulations were performed to evaluate the effect of providing both visual information and body sensory information on changes in steering characteristics and the amount of perspiration in drift cornering. When the driver is provided with body sensory information and visual information, the amount of perspiration increases and the driver can perform drift control with a moderate level of tension. With visual information only, the driver tends to easily go into a spin because drift control is difficult. In this case, the amount of perspiration increases greatly as compared with the case where body sensory information is also provided, reflecting a very high perception of risk. When body sensory information is provided, the driver can control drift adequately, feeding back the roll angle information in steering. The importance of the driver's perception of the state of the vehicle was thus confirmed, and a desirable future direction for driver assistance systems was determined.
