Implementation of dynamic visual acuity testing system using optical see through head mounted display

  • Dynamic visual acuity is used as an important factor to measure athletic performance in sports field. A study on visual acuity testing system using non-see head mounted display (NST-HMD) was conducted recently. However, the NST-HMD has a problem that the sense of space felt by the subject differs from the actual environment. This is because the view is blocked so that it is only implemented in a virtual space. This paper proposes a dynamic visual acuity testing system using optical see through head mounted display (OST-HMD). To do this, OST-HMD and NST-HMD comparative tests were conducted using existing K-D (King-Devick) charts. Experiments were performed on 30 subjects and their visual acuity was measured and analyzed by parametric statistics and one-sample T-test. The results of the study demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed OST-HMD. This study is expected to use the visual inspection and training equipment of OST-HMD.

  • 본 연구에서는 영상 처리를 이용하여 외형적인 칼라 팔레트내의 불량품을 식별하는 실험을 수행하고자 한다. 기본적인 팔레트 자동선별시스템에 대해 기술하며, 각 샘플링된 팔레트에 대해 영상처리기법을 이용한 불순물 검출 알고리듬을 제안하고자 한다. 또한 이를 상용화할 수 있도록 윈도우환경의 비전처리 프로그램을 제시하였다. 끝으로 본 연구에 대한 평가와 앞으로의 연구과제에 대해 기술하고자 한다.

완전분해 점검을 통한 장기운영 전투기 전기배선시스템의 신뢰성분석 (EWIS Reliability Analysis of Aging Fighter Aircraft through Teardown Inspection)

  • According to the incresement of aging aircraft, Republic of Korea Air Force (RoKAF) conducted a teardown inspection of aircraft's EWIS (electrical wiring interconnection system) to determine the status of deterioration and the influence of failure occurrences due to it. The inspected aircraft were the retired fighter jets that had been used for more than 40 years. By analyzing defect type and the defect tendency, RoKAF can establish the necessary measures for the usage extension of their fleet and furthermore, the analysis results can be used as a basic data for the preparation of it's aircraft aging. EWIS inspection was done throughout careful visual inspection technique by removing all the ducts and pipes located in the fuselage and wings. For the aircraft wiring where no damage was found, the elongation tests were performed to determine the deterioration of wiring according to the location of the aircraft. The connectors, which is the main cause of intermittent failure, were completely disassembled and inspected for internal damage such as corrosion, abrasion, and traces of foreign objects. The detected defects were classified into 4 severity levels based on the type of damage, and the classified defects were weighted according to the criticality which may affects to it's system to establish the action plan.

  • $\mu$BGA(Ball Grid Array) is growing in response to a great demand for smaller and lighter packages for the use in laptop, mobile phones and other evolving products. However it is not easy to find its defect by human visual due to in very small dimension. From this point of view, we are interested its development of a vision based automated inspection algorithm. For this, first a 2D view of $\mu$BGA is described under a special blue illumination. Second, a notation-invariant 2D inspection algorithm is developed. Finally a 3D inspection algorithm is proposed for the case of stereo vision system. As a simulation result, it is shown that 3D defect not easy to find by 2D algorithm can be detected by the proposed inspection algorithm.

  • 영상 처리의 목표는 관찰자를 위하여 영상의 시각적인 측면을 개선하는 것이다. 히스토그램은 디지털 영상 처리의 기초 자료로 사용될 수 있는 중요한 도구이다. 그러므로 히스토그램을 효과적으로 관리하는 것은 디지털 영상 처리에 있어 매우 중요하다. 현재 머신 비전 검사 시스템은 여러 외관 검사 분야에서 사용되어지고 있다. 하지만 머신 비전 시스템에 의한 외관 검사 결과는 작업장의 조명에 의한 영향을 많이 받는다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 영향을 극복하기 위한 방법으로 히스토그램 변환을 이용해서 머신 비전 검사의 정확성을 향상시키는 방법을 제안하였다. 제안하는 방법은 영상 내에서 개선이 필요한 영역에 대한 히스토그램 변환을 수행함으로써, 이들 영역의 특징들을 향상시키는 효과를 거둘 수 있다. 본 논문에서 제안된 방법은 지그 플레이트의 외관 검사를 통해 검증하였다.

용접 불량 검사를 위한 음향공진 검사 장치 개발 (Development of Acoustic Resonance Evaluation System to Detect the Welding Defects)

  • We have developed an acoustic resonance inspection system to inspect the welding defects in the mechanical parts fabricated using friction stir welding method. The inspection system was consisted of a DAQ board, a microphone sensor, an impact hammer, and controlled by a PC software. The system was developed to collect and analyze the sound signal generated by hitting the sample with an impact hammer to determine whether it is defective. In this study, 100% welded good samples were compared with 95%, 90%, and 85% welded samples, respectively. The variation of the completeness in welding did not affect the visual appearance in the samples. As a result of analyzing the natural frequencies of the good samples, the five natural frequency peaks were identified. In the case of the defective samples, the frequency change was observed. The welding failure detection time was fast enough to be only 0.7 seconds. Employing our welding defect inspection system to the actual industrial field will maximize the efficiency of quality inspection and thus improve the productivity.

  • 자동화 설비 도입으로 생산성이 향상되었지만, 양품뿐만 아니라 불량품 또한 대량 생산할 가능성이 있어서 전수검사가 필수적이 되고 있다. 검사자가 많은 양의 제품을 전수검사 한다는 것은 무리가 따르기 때문에 자동 검사 시스템에 대한 연구가 다양하게 진행되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 컴퓨터 비전을 이용한 자동 시각 검사 시스템으로서 현수애자의 미세균열 자동 검출 시스템을 개발하였다. 현수애자의 미세균열 자동 검사 시스템: 현수애자의 미세균열을 검출하기 위해, 현수애자를 턴 텐이블 위에서 회전시키고, 프로그래시브 스캔 카메라로 애자의 영상을 획득하고, 이 영상을 전처리 하여 그림자, 노이즈 등을 제거하고, 특징을 이용하여 미세균열을 검출한다.

Development of a structural inspection system with marking damage information at onsite based on an augmented reality technique

  • Although unmanned aerial vehicles have been used to overcome the limited accessibility of human-based visual inspection, unresolved issues still remain. Onsite inspectors face difficulty finding previously detected damage locations and tracking their status onsite. For example, an inspector still marks the damage location on a target structure with chalk or drawings while comparing the current status of existing damages to their previous status, as documented onsite. In this study, an augmented-reality-based structural inspection system with onsite damage information marking was developed to enhance the convenience of inspectors. The developed system detects structural damage, creates a holographic marker with damage information on the actual physical damage, and displays the marker onsite via an augmented reality headset. Because inspectors can view a marker with damage information in real time on the display, they can easily identify where the previous damage has occurred and whether the size of the damage is increasing. The performance of the developed system was validated through a field test, demonstrating that the system can enhance convenience by accelerating the inspector's essential tasks such as detecting damages, measuring their size, manually recording their information, and locating previous damages.

멱함수 변환과 히스토그램 지정을 사용하여 정확도를 향상시킨 Vision 검사 방법 개발 (Vision Inspection Method Development which Improves Accuracy By using Power-Law Transformation and Histogram Specification)

  • 각종 전자 제품 및 부품의 외관 검사는 사람의 시각에 의해 이루어졌다. 그러나 사람의 시각에 의한 외관 검사 결과는 검사자의 육체적, 정신적 상태에 따라 변하기 때문에, 일정한 검사 결과를 얻을 수 없다. 따라서 사람에 의한 검사 대신 머신 비전 검사 시스템이 많은 외관 검사 분야에 사용되고 있다. 그러나 머신 비전 시스템의 외관 검사 결과는 작업장의 조명에 의해 변하게 된다. 이에 본 논문에서 우리는 비전 검사 정확도의 개선을 위해 멱함수 변환과 히스토그램 지정 기법을 사용했다. 그리고 멱함수 변환과 히스토그램 지정 알고리즘을 통해서 비전 검사의 정확도를 향상시키고, 검사자의 육체적, 정신적 상태에 따른 검사 오류를 막을 수 있었다. 또한 이 시스템은 일반적인 검사 환경을 위해서 PC, CCD 카메라와 비주얼 C++ 만을 사용해서 개발됐다.

Quantitative representation for EEG interpretation and its automatic scoring

  • A new system for automatic interpretation of the awake electroencephalogram(EEG) was developed in this work. We first clarified all the necessary items for EEG interpretation in accordance with an analysis of visual inspection of the rhythms by a qualified electroencephalographer (EEGer), and then defined each item quantitatively. Concerning the automatic interpretation, we made an effort to find out specific EEG parameters which faithfully represent the procedure of visual interpretation by the qualified EEGer. Those specific EEG parameters were calculated from periodograms of the EEG time series. By using EEG data of 14 subjects, the automatic EEG interpretation system was constructed and compared with the visual interpretation done by the EEGer. The automatic EEG interpretation thus established was proved to be in agreement with the visual interpretation by the EEGer.
