A Study on the Expression by Anamorphose Phenomenon (아나모르포즈(anamorphose)지각현상에 의한 공간 표현 연구)

  • Anamorphosis is highly favored in modern days as the atmosphere of pursuing unusual manners is growing while transformation and distortion of images are freely available. This research is to understand the affect of these distorted images on space designs and the close connection between anamorphosis and visual perceptions, and to identify the new perceptual phenomenon created through it, and the methods of expressing those. Four expressional methods were defined through the process of studying Anamorphosis based on its definition by Niceron, examining artworks such as paintings and photographs, and case-studying example spaces of visual perception experiments. Expressing anamorphosis through visual perceptions are broadly categorized to directional, dimensional, flatness, and optical. The analysis of 10 case projects suggests that the experimental spaces offer joys of finding and interpreting metaphorical forms and meanings caused by the four characteristic categories above. Also, they artificially show the boundaries between reality and virtual spaces in 2-dimensional or 3-dimensional spaces, and form hyper-boundaries, new experience, and an internal mechanism that is vague and chaotic. Therefore, this research concludes that anamorphosis which is a distorted perspective, is not only a simple measure to overcome perspectival errors, but is an existence suitable to the current era, that will extend its potential and value in spatial design.

  • As a portal to rural town, Myeon near large cities is expected to represent image of the rural area. But, the landscape are changing rapidly due to development pressure and to the expansion of the transportation network. For visitors and transit traffic, Recognizing that the characteristics of the streetscape is an important task for the vitalization of the rural district. In particular, it was found that the visual quantity of the central street in the location of the town was closely related to the preference of the streetscape, and the visual quantity of trees and the visual quantity of the building showed an inverse relationship of + and - respectively. Since this is not a simple ratio of the sky to the building, but a relative factor, the possibility of landscape improvement can be improved through management of public facilities or green spaces and maintenance of open spaces or gaps between buildings. It seems that it is necessary to secure separate means for the management of the architectural landscape, such as the establishment of a special landscape plan or establishment of ordinances.

  • For the success of mobile messenger emoticons, it is important to grab the attentions of users or consumers and identify the influence factors that can satisfy empathy and emotional satisfaction. In this study, first, subjective evaluation of the mobile messenger emoticons of the subjects was examined through a preliminary survey, and then Eye-tracking experiments were conducted to identify the influence factors that can attention of the subject's eyes in the emoticons. The study revealed that emoticons such as Ompangi and Onaeui yeosin highlighting their characters mainly focus on characters(face). Secondly, Gyuiyomjueui and Handprinting emoticons focused on Text. Contrary to earlier studies, such results showed that people are presumed to focus on characteristic elements such as size, form, color and location of visually exposed elements rather than primarily having a keen interest in characters.

  • We describe a characteristic behavior of edge signal intensity, the strictly monotonic variation of intensity across edges and propose a new algorithm for edge detection based on it. We define an extended directional derivatives, which is nonlocal and beyond scaling in the pixel space, to describe that the algorithm is adaptive to the various widths of edges and relevant as an optimal edge detection algorithm. As an industrial application of the algorithm, we discuss a simple computer vision procedure for an example of visual inspection.

  • Motion interpolation is adopted and has been spread widely into market since it is effective in reducing motion blur, which is considered as weak characteristic due to slow response time of liquid crystal and hold-type display. 120Hz driving using interpolated frames achieves better moving picture quality with less motion blur and less motion judder. However, errors in the interpolated frames can cause visual artifacts such as static text breakup, halos, and occlusions. This paper focuses on categorizing characteristics of visual artifacts and on reducing side-effects by using information from original frames in special cases.

  • This study has carried out two steps. Firstly, the questionnaire was carried out in order to extract visual interference factors in the TV learning spaces. Secondly, on the basis of the questionnaire, it has been carried out two experiments in the TV learning space. In the experiment I, the preferable luminance of the characters and the preferable luminance ratios between the characters and backgrounds on the TV screen are extracted. In the experiment II, the preferable luminance distributions on the TV screen and its surrounding surfaces is found out. The data made in this study is expected to utilize in the lighting design on the TV learning spaces as guides.

  • With the development of 3D technology, image expression has been widely used in the field of 3D animation these days for the purpose of illustrating a certain image, feeling or status. In this paper, we examine how it affects to audiences' feelings and senses when we applied the handheld camera technique to other kinetic characteristics. In addition, we analyze the scenes which the handheld camera technique is applied into each characteristic from movie contents, present the kinetic characteristics of the handheld camera technique, and study the scenes that can apply this technique with 3D animation and its influence.

  • Stabismus refers to a muscle imbalance that results in improper alignment of the visual axes of the two eyes. It may be divided into paralytic and nonparalytic strabismus. Paralytic strabismus is primarily a neurologic problem ; nonaralytic strabismus is more strictly an ophthalmologic problem. Characteristic clinical disturbances result from lesions of the third, fourth, and sixth cranial nerves. Lesions of the sixth nerve result in a paralysis of lateral or outward movement and a crossing of the visual axes. We present a case of paralytic strabismus in 24-year-old female who recovered by Oriental medicine, including acupuncture and herbal medicines.

Visual Evoked Potential and Personality (시각유발전위와 성격)

  • Personality can be understood in terms of cognitive and informational modulation. Augmenting and reducing evoked potential (AREP) has been known as the one of method to test this cognitive characteristic. Especially, many studies have been performed on the relationship between AREP and the Zuckerman Sensation Seeking Scale (SSS) and the Eysenck Personality Questinnaire (EPQ), which are well known as the psychological tests of personality. Generally sensation seekers tend to be augmenters and low sensation seekers tend to the rend to be reducers of EP. However, there are some reports that EP reducers are more extraverted on the EPQ and more sensation-seeking on the SSS than EP augmenters. These results may imply regulatory function of brain can be different depending on brain areas. According to the result of author's studies it can be assumed that frontocentral area works consistently with personality trend whereas right posterior temporal area performs inhibitory regulation against personality trend.
