사각형 복원을 위한 새로운 기하학적 도구로서의 선분 카메라 쌍 (Coupled Line Cameras as a New Geometric Tool for Quadrilateral Reconstruction)

  • We review recent research results on coupled line cameras (CLC) as a new geometric tool to reconstruct a scene quadrilateral from image quadrilaterals. Coupled line cameras were first developed as a camera calibration tool based on geometric insight on the perspective projection of a scene rectangle to an image plane. Since CLC comprehensively describes the relevant projective structure in a single image with a set of simple algebraic equations, it is also useful as a geometric reconstruction tool, which is an important topic in 3D computer vision. In this paper we first introduce fundamentals of CLC with reals examples. Then, we cover the related works to optimize the initial solution, to extend for the general quadrilaterals, and to apply for cuboidal reconstruction.

  • The vision processing system for mobile robots requires real time processing and reliability for the purpose of safe navigation. But, general types of vision systems are not appropriate owing to the correspondence problem which correlates the points out of two images. To determine the obstacle area, we use correspondences of line segments between two perspective images sequentially acquired by camera. To simplify the correspondence, the matching of line segments are performed in the navigation space, based on the assumption that mobile robot should be navigated in the flat surface and the motion of mobile robot between two frames should be approximately known.

Assembly performance evaluation method for prefabricated steel structures using deep learning and k-nearest neighbors

  • This study proposes an automated assembly performance evaluation method for prefabricated steel structures (PSSs) using machine learning methods. Assembly component images were segmented using a modified version of the receptive field pyramid. By factorizing channel modulation and the receptive field exploration layers of the convolution pyramid, highly accurate segmentation results were obtained. After completing segmentation, the positions of the bolt holes were calculated using various image processing techniques, such as fuzzy-based edge detection, Hough's line detection, and image perspective transformation. By calculating the distance ratio between bolt holes, the assembly performance of the PSS was estimated using the k-nearest neighbors (kNN) algorithm. The effectiveness of the proposed framework was validated using a 3D PSS printing model and a field test. The results indicated that this approach could recognize assembly components with an intersection over union (IoU) of 95% and evaluate assembly performance with an error of less than 5%.

  • 디지털 아트의 한 영역으로써 인터렉티브 비디오는 관객이 특정한 관점에서 비디오 공간에 비춰지는 매체적 특성상 거울의 효과가 하나의 비유로써 도입된 바 있으며 이는 미디어의 본질에 접근하는 담론을 자극하였다. 본 논문에서 소개되는 인터렉티브 비디오 작품은 이러한 담론의 연장선에서 개념적으로는 장자의 나비의 꿈에서 나타나는 사상에 기초하며 기술적으로는 컴퓨터 비젼을 이용하여 명암 처리를 통해 관객의 실루엣을 얻음으로써 다수의 그래픽 나비 개체가 이를 추상적으로 그리게 한다. 관객은 그래픽 공간에 투영된 자신의 이미지와 상호작용하면서 내러티브를 생산하게 된다. 시스템에 사운드를 도입하여 공간감을 증강시키고 추가적인 내러티브를 생산할 수 있도록 하였다. 본 작품에서 도입된 컴퓨터 비젼 기법과 개체의 자율행동 및 군집운동 메카니즘에 의한 그래픽 생성이 인터렉티브 비디오를 구현하는 하나의 방식으로 제시된다.

Identifying success factors in inter-Korean cooperation projects: the World Vision "Seed Potato Project"

  • During the 1990s, North Korea suffered from severe economic hardships in the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet bloc and massive floods; North Korea is still has not escaped this suffering. South Korea has pursued various inter-Korean cooperation projects to help North Korea open and develop its economy; however, there are limited successful cases for improvement in North Korea. It is imperative to define a long-term strategy through analysis of key success factors for inter-Korean cooperation in order to develop more successful cases of inter-Korean cooperation; however, limited studies have been conducted to analyze successful inter-Korean cooperation projects. This study selects the "Seed Potato Project" (implemented by the World Vision) as a successful case to be analyzed and identifies key success factors for inter-Korean cooperation. As illustrated in previous studies, the results of the analysis of success factors of a "Seed Potato Project" from a trust-building perspective has revealed that this project follows key success factors like openness, integrity, consistency, and benevolence. In the last section of this report, this study also presents important policy implications to develop future successful cases for inter-Korean cooperation.

  • This paper describes a full color stereoscopic video display system using a LCD shutter. Human apprehends the world with a natural stereo vision. The left eye sees through a slightly different perspective from the right eye; proposed vision system combines two images into a single image that has stereo depth. That is, when the left image is on the screen, the left shutter opens and the right shutter closes - and vice versa. The LCD shutter channels the left image to the left eye, and the right image to the right eye. The brain then fuses the stereo pair into a single high-resolution, flicker-free 3D image. The designed vision system is a real-time system that shows stereoscopic images without the loss of image information from video cameras.

Using CNN- VGG 16 to detect the tennis motion tracking by information entropy and unascertained measurement theory

  • Object detection has always been to pursue objects with particular properties or representations and to predict details on objects including the positions, sizes and angle of rotation in the current picture. This was a very important subject of computer vision science. While vision-based object tracking strategies for the analysis of competitive videos have been developed, it is still difficult to accurately identify and position a speedy small ball. In this study, deep learning (DP) network was developed to face these obstacles in the study of tennis motion tracking from a complex perspective to understand the performance of athletes. This research has used CNN-VGG 16 to tracking the tennis ball from broadcasting videos while their images are distorted, thin and often invisible not only to identify the image of the ball from a single frame, but also to learn patterns from consecutive frames, then VGG 16 takes images with 640 to 360 sizes to locate the ball and obtain high accuracy in public videos. VGG 16 tests 99.6%, 96.63%, and 99.5%, respectively, of accuracy. In order to avoid overfitting, 9 additional videos and a subset of the previous dataset are partly labelled for the 10-fold cross-validation. The results show that CNN-VGG 16 outperforms the standard approach by a wide margin and provides excellent ball tracking performance.

상하수도 미래비젼과 대한상하수도학회의 역할 (Future vision of the Korean society of water and wastewater in water sector)

  • Since its foundation in September 1986, the Korean Society of Water and Wastewater has made a significant contribution to the water sector in Korea over the past 30 years. The 30th anniversary commemorative committee reviewed the establishment goal of the society and its development strategy for organization and present the "Future Vision of Korean Society of Water and Wastewater" for the next 30 years. The future vision of the society is defined as "Aiming for the healthy life and preservation of the environment through the development of water and wastewater technology and experience". Promotion strategies for implementing the future vision are as follows: 1. Leading water and wastewater technology, 2. Develop water and wastewater policy, 3. Strengthen water and wastewater capacity, 4. Reinforce institutional governance. The driving target to be achieved through the implementation strategy is "To lead the global standards of water and wastewater." We also presented national issue, policy issue, and technical issues in the water sector. Climate change, unified Korea, water safety, and national welfare were selected as national issues related to water and wastewater. This approach was taken from the perspective of policy consumers such as citizens, civil society, experts, and local government/industry. By presenting policy issues and technical issues that address national issues, authors have proposed a future policy direction for the Korean Water and Wastewater Society to make critical contributions to national development.

  • AHP analysis was carried out to derive the optimum mix weight of hydrogen energy production material presented in a "national vision of the hydrogen economy and the action plan" and aimed to be commercialized by $2030{\sim}2040$ year. Six kinds of hydrogen production materials(natural gas, spare electric energy, fleeting gas, renewable energy, coal, nuclear energy) was selected as subjects of study and the perspective of optimum mix weight was derived through AHP analysis.

A self-localization algorithm for a mobile robot using perspective invariant

  • This paper presents a new algorithm for the self-localization of a mobile robot using perspective invariant(Cross Ratio). Most of conventional model-based self-localization methods have some problems that data structure building, map updating and matching processes are very complex. Use of the simple cross ratio can be effective to the above problems. The algorithm is based on two basic assumptions that the ground plane is flat and two parallel walls are available. Also it is assumed that an environmental map is available for matching between the scene and the model. To extract an accurate steering angle for a mobile robot, we take advantage of geometric features such as vanishing points(V.P). Point features for computing cross ratios are extracted robustly using a vanishing point and the intersection points between floor and the vertical lines of door frames. The robustness and feasibility of our algorithms have been demonstrated through experiments in indoor environments using an indoor mobile robot, KASIRI-II(KAist SImple Roving Intelligence).
