  • In this paper, we propose the method to control the position of LDM(Linear DC Motor) using vision system. The proposed method is composed of a vision system for position detecting, and main computer calculates PID control output which is deliver to 80il actuator circuit in serial communication. To confirm the usefulness of the proposed method, we experimented about position control of a small size LDM using CCD camera which has a performance 30frames/sec as vision system.

  • There has been requested to automate the welding process in shipyard due to its dependence on skilled operators and the inferior working environments. According to these demands, multiple robot welding system for sub-assembly welding line has been developed, realized and installed at Keoje Shipyard. In order to realize automatic welding system, robots have to be equipped with the sensing system to recognize the position of the welding panels. In this research, a camera vision system is developed to detect the position of base panels for subassembly line in shipbuilding. Two camera vision systems are used in two different stages (Mounting and Welding) to automate the recognition and positioning of welding lines. For automatic recognition of panel position, various image processing algorithms are proposed in this paper.

  • Machining tool conditions directly affect to quality of product and productivity of manufacturing. Many researches performed for tool condition monitoring in machining process to improve quality and productivity. Conventional methods use characteristics of signal for cutting force, motor current consumption, vibration of machine tools and machining sound. Recently, diameter of machining tool is become smaller for minimizing of mechanical parts. Tool condition monitoring using conventional methods are relatively difficult because micro machining using small diameter tool has low machining load and high cutting speed. These days, the direct monitoring for tool conditions using vision system is performed actively. But, vision system is affected by external conditions such as back ground of image and illumination. In this study, minimizing technology of external conditions using distribution analysis of image data are developed in micro machining using small diameter drill and tap. The image data is gathered from vision system. Several sets of experiment results are performed to verify the characteristics of the proposed machining technology.

독립 비젼 시스템 기반의 축구로봇을 위한 계층적 행동 제어기 (A Hierarchical Motion Controller for Soccer Robots with Stand-alone Vision System)

  • In this paper, we propose a hierarchical motion controller with stand-alone vision system to enhance the flexibility of the robot soccer system. In addition, we simplified the model of dynamic environments of the robot using petri-net and simple state diagram. Based on the proposed model, we designed the robot soccer system with velocity and position controller that includes 4-level hierarchically structured controller. Some experimental results using the stand-alone vision system from host system show improvement of the controller performance by reducing processing time of vision algorithm.

  • 차량의 전자제어 시스템은 운전자의 안전을 확보하려는 법률적, 사회적 요구에 발맞추어 빠르게 발달하고 있으며, 하드웨어의 가격하락과 센서 및 프로세서의 고성능화에 따라 레이더, 카메라, 레이저와 같은 다양한 센서를 적용한 다양한 운전자 지원 시스템 (Driver Assistance System)이 실용화되고 있다. 이에 본 연구의 선행연구에서는 CCD 카메라로부터 취득되는 영상을 이용하여 실험차량의 주행 차선 및 주변에 위치 하거나 접근하는 차량을 인식하여 운전자의 위험운전에 대한 원인 및 결과를 분석 할 수 있는 Vision 시스템 기반 위험운전 분석 프로그램을 개발하였다. 그러나 선행 연구에서 개발된 Vision 시스템은 터널, 일출, 일몰과 같이 태양광이 충분치 않은 곳에서는 차선 및 차량의 인식율이 매우 떨어지는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 본 연구에서는 밝기 대응 알고리즘을 개발하여 Vision 시스템에 탑재함으로서 언제, 어느 곳에서라도 차선 및 차량에 대한 인식율을 향상시켜 운전자의 위험운전에 대한 원인을 명확하게 분석하고자 한다.

Loosely-Coupled Vision/INS Integrated Navigation System

  • Since GPS signals are vulnerable to interference and obstruction, many alternate aiding systems have been proposed to integrate with an inertial navigation system. Among these alternate systems, the vision-aided method has become more attractive due to its benefits in weight, cost and power consumption. This paper proposes a loosely-coupled vision/INS integrated navigation method which can work in GPS-denied environments. The proposed method improves the navigation accuracy by correcting INS navigation and sensor errors using position and attitude outputs of a landmark based vision navigation system. Furthermore, it has advantage to provide redundant navigation output regardless of INS output. Computer simulations and the van tests have been carried out in order to show validity of the proposed method. The results show that the proposed method works well and gives reliable navigation outputs with better performance.

  • Recently, research of visual control is getting more essential in robotic application, and acquiring 3D informations from the 2D images is becoming more important with development of vision system. For this application, we propose the effective way of controlling stereo vision tracking system for target tracking and calculating distance between target and camera. In this paper we address improved controller using dual-loop visual servo which is more effective compared with using single-loop visual servo for stereo vision tracking system. 기계시각을 이용한 장미와 국화 절화의 품질 계측장치 개발 (Development of a System to Measure Quality of Cut Flowers of Rose and Chrysanthemum Using Machine Vision)

  • Rose and chrysanthemum are the most popular flowers in Korean floriculture. Sorting flowers is a labor intensive operation in cultivation of the cut flowers and needed to be mechanized. Machine vision is one of the promising solutions for this purpose. This study was carried out to develop hardware and software of a cut flower sorting system using machine vision and to test its performance. Results of this study were summarized as following; 1. Length of the cut flower measured by the machine vision system showed a good correlation with actual length of the flower at a level of the coefficients of determination (R$^2$) of 0.9948 and 0.9993 for rose and chrysanthemum respectively and average measurement errors of the system were about 2% and 1% of the shortest length of the sample flowers. The experimental result showed that the machine vision system could be used successfully to measure length of the cut flowers. 2. Stem diameter of the cut flowers measured by the machine vision system showed a correlation with actual diameter at the coefficients of determination (R$^2$) of 0.8429 and 0.9380 for rose and chrysanthemum respectively and average measurement errors of the system were about 15% and 7.5% of the shortest diameter of the sample flowers which could be a serious source of error in grading operation. It was recommended that the error rate should be considered to set up grading conditions of each class of the cut flowers. 3. Bud maturity of 20 flowers each judged using the machine vision system showed a coincidence with the judgement by inspectors at ranges of 80%∼85% and 85%∼90% for rose and chrysanthemum respectively. Performance of the machine vision system to judge bud maturity could be improved through setting up more precise criteria to judge the maturity with more samples of the flowers. 4. Quality of flower judged by stem curvature using the machine vision system showed a coincidence with the judgement by inspectors at 90% for good and 85% for bad flowers of both rose and chrysanthemum. The levels of coincidence was considered as that the machine vision system used was an acceptable system to judge the quality of flower by stem curvature.

THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NARROW GAP MULTI-PASS WELDING SYSTEM USING LASER VISION SYSTEM

  • In the multi-pass welding of pressure vessels or ships, the mechanical touch sensor system is generally used together with a manipulator to measure the gap and depth of the narrow gap to perform seam tracking. Unfortunately, such mechanical touch sensors may commit measuring errors caused by the eterioration of the measuring device. An automation system of narrow gap multi-pass welding using a laser vision system which can track the seam line of narrow gap and which can control welding power has been developed. The joint profile of the narrow gap, with 250mm depth and 28mm width, can be captured by laser vision camera. The image is then processed for defining tracking positions of the torch during welding. Then, the real-time correction of lateral and vertical position of the torch can be done by the laser vision system. The adaptive control of welding conditions like welding Currents and welding speeds, can also be performed by the laser vision system, which cannot be done by conventional mechanical touch systems. The developed automation system will be adopted to reduce the idle time of welders, which happens frequently in conventional long welding processes, and to improve the reliability of the weld quality as well.
