Face classification has wide applications in intelligent video surveillance, content retrieval, robot vision, and human-machine interface. Pose and expression changes, and arbitrary illumination are typical problems for face recognition. When the face is captured at a distance, the image quality is often degraded by blurring and noise corruption. This paper investigates the efficacy of multi-classifier decision level fusion for face classification based on the photon-counting linear discriminant analysis with two different cost functions: Euclidean distance and negative normalized correlation. Decision level fusion comprises three stages: cost normalization, cost validation, and fusion rules. First, the costs are normalized into the uniform range and then, candidate costs are selected during validation. Three fusion rules are employed: minimum, average, and majority-voting rules. In the experiments, unfocusing and motion blurs are rendered to simulate the effects of the long distance environments. It will be shown that the decision-level fusion scheme provides better results than the single classifier.

In order to evaluate the precision degree of the blocks on the dock, the shipyards recently started to use the point cloud approaches using the 3D scanners. However, they hesitate to use it due to the limited time, cost, and elaborative effects for the post-works. Although it is somewhat traditional instead, they have still used the electro-optical wave devices which have a characteristic of having less dense point set (usually 1 point per meter) around the contact section of two blocks. This paper tried to expand the usage of point sets. Our approach can estimate the rework time to weld between the Pre-Erected(PE) Block and Erected(ER) block as well as the precision of block construction. In detail, two algorithms were applied to increase the efficiency of estimation process. The first one is K-mean clustering algorithm which is used to separate only the related contact point set from others not related with welding sections. The second one is the Concave hull algorithm which also separates the inner point of the contact section used for the delayed outfitting and stiffeners section, and constructs the concave outline of contact section as the primary objects to estimate the rework time of welding. The main purpose of this paper is that the rework cost for welding is able to be obtained easily and precisely with the defective point set. The point set on the blocks' outline are challenging to get the approximated mathematical curves, owing to the lots of orthogonal parts and lack of number of point. To solve this problems we compared the Radial based function-Multi-Layer(RBF-ML) and Akima interpolation method. Collecting the proposed methods, the paper suggested the noble point matching method for minimizing the rework time of block-welding on the dock, differently the previous approach which had paid the attention of only the degree of accuracy.
Objectives : This study was to examine the recognition and understanding of the use, application of oral hygiene supplies among dental clinic patients in a bid to stress the necessity of education on the right awareness and use of oral hygiene supplies, to provide information on the development of educational programs and ultimately to help promote the oral health of people in general. Methods : The subjects in this study were 314 patients who visited dental clinics in North Jeolla Province in June 2009. Results : 1. Out of oral hygiene supplies, the largest number of the patients investigated(74.6%) were best cognizant of dental floss, and the greatest group(77.7%) had the right understanding of the use of toothpick. Currently, the oral hygiene supplies that were most widely in use were toothpicks(43.2%). 2. As to the relationship of awareness and understanding of the use, application of oral hygiene supplies to subjective oral health status, 50.0 percent of the patients who understood the use of toothpick found themselves to be in good health, and the gaps between them and the others were statistically significant. Among those who were aware of dental floss, the largest group(51.4%) considered themselves to be in good shape, and in the event of those who understood the use of dental floss, the greatest group(49.2%) deemed themselves to be in good health. Out of those who understood the use of mouse rinse, the largest group(53.7%) thought they were in good health(p<0.05). 3. Recognition of interdental brush, understanding of its use and whether to use it currently or not were identified as parents to use oral hygiene supplies recommended by dental clinics(p<0.05). 4. Recognition of interdental brush, understanding of its use and whether to use it currently or not were identified as patients to use oral hygiene supplies recommended by dental clinics(p<0.05). 5. The largest group of those who didn't put dental floss to use didn't use it for other reasons unspecified in the questionnaire, and the second greatest group of them didn't use it since it was so onerous to do that. There were statistically significant differences in the reason why they didn't use the oral hygiene supplies(p<0.05). 6. Awareness of dental floss and interdental brush, understanding of the use of the two and whether to use the two at present or not made statistically significant differences to whether they were likely to use the oral hygiene supplies in the future. And whether they were likely to use the oral hygiene supplies in the future was statistically significantly different according to awareness of mouse rinse and understanding of the use of it as well(p<0.05). Conclusions : Dental hygienists have to provide patients with various data of oral hygiene devices through oral health education and then only patients caring in dental clinics can choose the appropriate devices to claim for their own disease.

After various video coding standards such as H.263, MPEG-4, and H.264 have been introduced, there has bun strong need to support the multiple standards with limited resources efficiently. In terms of deblocking Inter which plays an important role in improving visual quality, K264 deblocking filter implementation has different aspects as compared with traditional $8\times8$ block-based post-filter implementation. Analyzing the differences, this paper proposes a H.264 deblocking filter implementation method that supports $8\times8$ block-based post-filtering for the traditional video coding systems. In the proposed implementation method the block boundaries to he filtered are adaptively chosen for $8\times8$ and $4\times4$ block boundary filtering. Since the filtered result is selectively used for motion compensation or not, both loop-filtering and post-filtering can be achieved. A quantization parameter conversion unit that converts H.263 quantization parameters to H.264 quantization parameters is utilized by examining the $8\times8$ block boundary errors based on human visual system. Since the original nature of the H.264 deblocking filter is well expanded to the $8\times8$ block-based post-filter with minor modifications, the proposed implementation method is suitable to implement the deblocking function of the multiple video standards such as H.263, MPEG-4, and K264, efficiently.

3D reconstruction of a scene structure from un-calibrated image sequences has been long one of the central problems in computer vision. For 3D reconstruction in Euclidean space, projective reconstruction, which is classified into the merging method and the factorization, is needed as a preceding step. By calculating all camera projection matrices and structures at the same time, the factorization method suffers less from dia and error accumulation than the merging. However, the factorization is hard to analyze precisely long sequences because it is based on the assumption that all correspondences must remain in all views from the first frame to the last. This paper presents a new projective reconstruction method for recovery of 3D structure over long sequences. We break a full sequence into sub-sequences based on a quantitative measure considering the number of matching points between frames, the homography error, and the distribution of matching points on the frame. All of the projective reconstructions of sub-sequences are registered into the same coordinate frame for a complete description of the scene. no experimental results showed that the proposed method can recover more precise 3D structure than the merging method.

In this paper, we propose a low-cost and compact motion capture system which enables to play motion games in PS2(Play Station 2). Recently, motion capture systems which are being used as a part in film producing and making games are too expensive and enormous systems. Now days, motion games using common USB camera are slow and have two-dimension recognition. But PSD sensor has a few good points, such as fast and low-cost. In recently year, 3D motion capture systems using 2D PSD (Position Sensitive Detector) optic sensor for motion capturing have been developed. One is Multi-PSD motion capture system applying stereo vision and another is Single-PSD motion capture system applying optical theory ship. But there are some problems to apply them to motion games. The Multi-PSD is high-cost and complicated because of using two more PSD Camera. It is so difficult to make markers having omni-direction equal intensity in Single-PSD. In this research, we propose a new theory that solves aforementioned problems. It can measure 3D coordination if separated two marker's intensity is equal to. We made a system based on this theory and experimented for performance capability. As a result, we were able to develop a motion capture system which is a single, low-cost, fast, compact, wide-angle and an adaptable motion games. The developed system is expected to be useful in animation, movies and games.

There have been studied with activity about color standard due to extention of digital contents' application area. Therefore the studies in relation to the standard are needed to represent image's feature as color. Also the methods to extract color's feature to be apt to various application are needed. In this paper, we set the base color as 50 colors from Munsell color system, get the color histogram to show the characteristics of colors's distribution of a image, and propose the method to extract representative colors from the histogram. Firstly, we convert a input image of RGB color space to a image of HSI color space and split the image into hue area and non-hue area. To split hue area and non-hue area, we use a fixed threshold and a perception-function of color area function to reflect the subjective vision of human-being. We compute histograms from each area and then make a total histogram from the histogram of hue area and the histogram of hue area, and extract the representative colors from the histogram. To evaluate the proposed method, we made 18 test images, applied conventional methods and proposed method to them Also the methods are applied to public images and the results are analyzed. The proposed method represents well the characteristics of the colors' distribution of images and piles up colors' frequency to representative colors. Therefore the representative colors can be applied to various applications

This paper was based on the answers of the BI(Business Incubating) managers who had been working in the business incubating field. The main purpose of this research was to figure out working conditions of those managers and to find out proper solutions. The result of the research was as follows. Overall economic rewards for those managers were relatively low level, job conditions for those managers were short-time contract-basis and those managers' ages were relatively young, 20s or 30s, and majority of the managers' working experience was usually less than 3years. Also some of the full-time managers were spending much of their working time in administration affairs rather than practical business incubating or business incubating consulting service. Therefore, the satisfaction level for their salary and working condition was quite unsatisfactory and they didn't have positive vision for their job and for their business consulting service. As a result to resolve those negative affects and to promote overall working for those BI managers, authorized certificates are necessary for those BI managers. Then they can specialize BI managing works and can improve their working conditions by blocking non -certified workers and can advance the quality of their consulting service.
This study investigated how people who became blind midway through life used music and how these uses differed according to individual factors. Sixty-one late-blind adults aged 40 to 60 years attending six welfare centers for the blind in Seoul and Gyeonggi region participated in this research. Participants were asked to complete a 25-question survey in Braille on music utilization and preference, as well as the purpose of music utilization. The response rate was 87.1%. The results were as follows. First, with regard to listening preference, they reported preferring to listen to upbeat popular music on the radio when resting at home. They liked to sing along to lyrics reminiscent of personal memories. String instruments were preferred when playing an instrument. With regard to the reason for using music, inducing mood change was found to be the biggest reason, followed by seeking enjoyment, comfort, sense of achievement, and sense of belonging. Third, for people with adventitious visual impairments, individual factors, such as gender, level of disability, and period without eyesight, did not reveal any significant differences. Last, participants were found to obtain a higher sense of belonging through music compared to those having low vision. Regarding time without eyesight, it appeared that the shorter the period, the higher the sense of belonging participants had from utilizing music, and vice versa. This study provides fundamental information for organizing an effective music program that can meet the needs and demands of people with adventitious visual impairments.

The purpose of the present study was to develop a convergent education contents for dementia prevention, operating on the web network applying modern information technology(IT). At the preparation stage, local and worldwide literatures related to dementia were analyzed followed by surveying industry demands, based on which the program was designed and developed. In the following enhancement stage, the program was modified as much as possible by advices obtained from experts in various fields. Development results of the present program are summarized as follows. Firstly, 645 intellect development model to prevent dementia was established through peer review and verification of convergent education theories by expert groups. This model was named as "Garisani" meaning "cognition capable of judging objects" in the Korean language. Secondly, 'Find a way' and 'Connect a line' modules were developed in the numeric field as well as 'Identify a letter(I, II)' modules, in the language field for web-based left brain training program. Thirdly, 'Find my car' and 'Vision training' modules in the attention field and 'Object inference' and 'Compare pictures' modules in the cognition field were developed for web-based right brain training program. Fourth, 'Pentomino' and 'BQmaze'(Brain Quotient and maze) modules in the space perception field and 'Visual training' in the memory field were developed for web-based left and right brains training. Fifth, all results were integrated leading to a 52 week Garisani convergent education program for dementia prevention.
