홍삼·복분자 혼합 발효물을 첨가한 치즈의 항비만 효과 (Anti-Obesity Effects of Mixture of Cheese, Fermented Red Ginseng and Rubus coreanus Miquel)

  • This study was investigating the anti-obesity effects of diets with a mixture of cheese, red ginseng and fermented mature fruit of Rubus coreanus Miquel. We fed the experimental diets (SC5, SC10) supplemented with 5% or 10% cheese containing of fermented mixture, then orally administered the extract of fermented mixture (RB100, RB300) at a concentration of 100 or 300 mg/kg body weight to SD rats with high fat diet (HFD). The results were as follows: Sample cheese groups decreased visceral fat mass and adipocyte size of stomach compared to that of HFD group. Additionally, lipid droplets of liver in sample cheese groups were smaller than that in HFD group. The serum triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (tChol), glucose, leptin, and insulin levels in sample cheese group were lower than that in HFD group. But, the serum adiponectin and HDL-cholesterol (cHDL) levels were higher than that in HFD group. These results suggest that fermentation of red ginseng and Rubus coreanus mixed with cheese might be helpful in preventing obesity in high fat diet-fed rats.

한국 소아 청소년 남아에서 복부 지방 분포 측정의 임상적 의의 (Clinical Significance of Abdominal Fat Distribution in Korean Male Children and Adolescents)

  • 목 적: 성인에서 내장 지방은 대사 이상의 위험 요소와 밀접한 상관이 있다고 알려져 있으나 소아 청소년 연령에서의 연구는 미흡하다. 소아 청소년에서의 복부지방의 분포와 대사 이상의 위험 요소간에 상관성을 연구하고자 하였다. 방 법: 78명의 남아와 23명의 여아를 포함한 101명의 소아 청소년(평균 연령 10.8${\pm}$2.4세)을 대상으로 연구를 시행하였다. 신체 계측과 대사 증후군의 위험 요소에 대한 분석을 개별 환자에서 시행하였고, 복부 전산화 단층 촬영을 통해 내장 지방과 피하 지방의 양을 측정하였다. 연령을 보정한 편 상관 분석을 통해 내장 지방, 피하 지방의 양, 신체 계측 지표와 대사 이상의 위험요소 간의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 결 과: 남아와 여아 모두에서 피하 지방이 나이가 들어감에 따라서 내장 지방보다 급격히 증가하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 남아에서 내장 지방과 피하 지방은 신체 계측 지표와는 유의한 상관성을 보였고, 내장 지방은 낮은 수치의 HDL-C과 피하 지방은 높은 이완기 혈압과 유의한 연관성을 보였으나. 남아에서 내장 지방과 피하 지방, 신체 계측 지표는 모두 대사 이상의 위험요소의 수와 밀접한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결 론: 남아에서 내장 지방은 낮은 수치의 HDL-C과, 피하 지방은 높은 이완기 혈압과 유의한 상관성을 나타내었으나 성인에서의 기존 연구에 비해 본 연구는 다른 대사 이상의 위험 요소들에 대한 상관성이 떨어지는 것으로 나타났다.

고지방식이 수컷 micro-pig에서 경신강지환(經身降脂丸) (GGEx)의 고지혈증 개선효과 (Anti-hyperlipidemia Effect of Gyeongshingangjeehwan (GGEx) in High Fat induced Obese Male Micro-pigs)

  • Objectives : We evaluated anti-hyperlipidemia effect of Gyeongshinganjeehwan (GGEx) in high fat induced obese male micro-pigs. Methods : 7 month-old micro-pigs are fed with normal (n = 3) or high fat diet (n = 18) for 12 weeks. The pig revealed obesity in high fat diet were divided into 2 groups (n = 5 each) and vehicle (OMP) and Gyeongshingangjeehwan (GGEx, 616.7 mg/kg/day) were administrated for 1 month. We monitored the changes in body weight and measured plasma cholesterol, triglyceride, free fatty acid, GOT and, GPT after 1 month. The visceral fat were measured with computerized tomography and weights of various organs were measured after sacrifice. Results : 1. GGEx group had significantly reduced body weight gain than obese control group in statistics. 2. GGEx group didn't significantly differ from obese control group in blood total cholesterol, blood LDL-cholesterol, blood triglyceride. but it's data were similar to normal control group. 3. GGEx group had prominantly reduced visceral fat than obese control group in computerized tomography. 4. Blood GOT and GPT didn't differ from between groups. The organ weight were not significant different. And it is normal in size and colour of visceral organs. Conclusions : It is concluded that GGEx has anti-hyperlipidemia effect by improving visceral fat and access to security.

요부 근력운동이 복부비만자의 요통지수, 요부 유연성, 복부비만도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Pain, Lumbar Flexibility and Abdominal Obesity of Patient with Low Back Pain and Abdominal Obesity after Lumbar Strengthening Exercise)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to investigate that the Effects of Pain, Lumbar Flexibility and Abdominal Obesity of Patient with Low Back Pain and Abdominal Obesity after Lumbar Strengthening Exercise. Methods : The selected subjects of this study were 17 patients who had diagnosis on low back pain and body mass index was more than $25kg/m^2$ and lumbar length was more than 90cm. They divided into a control group with 10 patients doing lumbar stabilization exercise and an experimental group with 7 patients ding simple lumbar strengthening exercise in order to compare degrees of oswestry disability index and lumbar stability, lumbar length was measured before the exercise, in 4 weeks and 8 weeks after exercises respectively. Result : lumbar strengthening exercise on patients with low back pain and abdominal obesity affected improving function of lumbar and decrease of pain with abdominal obesity. Conclusion : Then lumbar stabilization exercise than simple strengthening exercise affected decrease of Visceral fat tissue on abdominal obesity.

Nutritional Regulation of Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1, Leptin and Resistin Gene Expression in Obese Mouse

  • PAI-1 (plasminogen activator inhibitor-1), leptin, and resistin are synthesized and secreted by Int cells of rodents and have recently been postulated to be an important link to obesity. This study was conducted to identify the nutritional regulation of PAI-1, leptin, and resistin gene expression in 0b/ob mice. The mice were divided into four groups according to nutritional status: control, 48 hour fasting, 48 hour-fasting/12 hour-refeeding, and 48 hour-fasting/24 hour-refeeding. The mRNA levels of each peptide were measured by semi-quantitative RT-PCR. In visceral fat tissue, the level of PAI-1 mRNA increased markedly when 48h-fasted animals were refed with a high carbohydrate-low fat diet. However, lasting/refeeding did not appreciably change PAI-1 mRNA levels in subcutaneous fat tissue. Similar results were obtained for resistin mRNA levels in both types of fat tissues. These findings suggest that visceral adipose tissue might be more sensitively involved in the nutritional regulation of PAI-1 and resistin gene expression compared to subcutaneous fat tissue. The level of leptin mRNA decreased markedly in the 48h-fasted animals, and increased markedly when 48h-fasted animals were refed with a high carbohydrate-low fat diet. The nutritional regulation of leptin mRNA showed similar patterns in both types of fat tissues. In conclusion, the nutritional regulation of gene expression encoding PAI-1, resistin, and leptin from adipocytes may vary according to the type of adipose tissue.

걷기 운동으로 체중감량 및 혈당 호전을 보인 비만 환자 (Obese Patients Who Lost Weight and Improved Glycemic Control Through Walking Exercise)

  • Treatment of obesity includes diet therapy, exercise therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, drug therapy, and bariatric surgery. Most obese patients lose weight by combining diet, exercise, cognitive behavioral therapy or medication. But, in some cases, only one of these treatments is preferred. A 56-year-old male patient had a body mass index (BMI) of 33.1 kg/m2 and a waist circumference of 108 cm. He had been treated for hypertension; diabetes and dyslipidemia were diagnosed but not treated. However, at the initial visit to treat obesity, he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus and dyslipidemia again. So he decided to treat these two diseases with drugs first and modify his lifestyle. He started walking more than 20,000 steps every day and then he really walked about 15,000 steps every day during 5 months, although diet calorie or alcohol drinking amount was not significantly decreased. After about 6 months, the patient's weight decreased by 10.1 kg, the BMI decreased by 4.1 kg/m2, the waist circumference decreased by 10 cm, the glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) decreased by 4.59%, the visceral fat area decreased by 115 cm2, and the subcutaneous fat decreased by 38 cm2. As a result of body composition analysis, muscle mass increased by 1.2 kg, and the percentage of body fat decreased by 10.4%. The walking exercise does not have any space restrictions and has high accessibility by using a mobile phone app. Therefore, considering the patient's situation, it would be better to treat obese patients by first recommending walking exercises and increasing the number of steps to lose weight and improve the comorbidities.

중년 여성 대상의 지역사회 참여형 비만 중재 프로그램의 효과 (Effects of Community Based Participatory Obesity Intervention Program in Middle-Aged Women)

  • Purpose: The aim of the study was to determine the effects of a community based participatory program in obese middle-aged women. Methods: One-group pretest-posttest design was used. The subjects were 35 middle-aged women. Data were collected at public health centers in Chungcheongnam-Do from March to May, 2013. To evaluate the effect of the program, physiological indexes(body mass index, skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass, visceral fat area) and health behavior indexes(dietary practice guidelines score, moderate physical activity, drinking frequency) were measured. Analysis was performed using a Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: After the program, physiological indexes (BMI, BFM, SMM, VFA) and health behavior indexes (dietary guidelines scores, frequency of physical activity, drinking frequency) were significantly improved. Conclusion: The community based participatory obesity program by public health centers is considered to be effective. Therefore, greater effort is needed for better participatory program development of several health promoting fields, and more research is needed in order to examine a continuous effect.

허리둘레로 평가한 복부 비만의 사상인별 차이 분석 (The Study of Relationships between tile Abdominal Fat Distribution and Sasangin)

  • Objectives : Waist circumference (WC) is the best simple anthropometric index of abdominal visceral adipose tissue accumulation and obesity-related health risks. We measured WC and other anthropometric indices to assess relationships between the abdominal fat distribution and Sasang constitution. Methods : 196 participants who completed a QSCC II were measured some anthropometric indicies - height, weight and WC. Collected data were stratified by sex and analysed by oneway analysis of variances among constitutional groups. Results : In men, there were significant differences in weight, BMI and WC among Constitutional groups (p<0.001). In women, there were significant differences in weight and BMI, but there were no significant difference in WC among Constitutional groups. Conclusions : There was a significant relationship between taeumin men md abdominal chesty. But, in women, there was no clear relationship between abdominal obesity and participant's constitution.

수영 운동이 난소절제 후 비만 쥐의 지방조직에서 염증에 미치는 억제 효과 (The inhibitory effect of swimming exercise on inflammation in adipose tissue of obese mice after ovariectomy)

  • 본 연구는 암컷 쥐의 난소절제 후 고지방식이로 비만이 유도된 비만 쥐에서 수영운동이 지방조직에서 염증반응을 억제하는지를 조사하였다. 실험군과 대조군은 모의수술군(Sham), 난소절제 수술군(OVX) 및 수영운동을 실시한 난소절제 수술군(OVX/Ex)으로 구분되어 8주 동안 고지방식이(45% fat) 사료를 섭취하면서 사육되었다. 생식기 주변 지방조직, 복막 신장주변 지방조직, 및 장간막 지방조직을 포함한 내장지방조직의 무게는 Sham에 비해 OVX에서 증가하였으나, OVX에 비해 OVX/Ex에서는 감소하였다. Sham에 비해 OVX는 지방조직에서의 IκBα의 유전자 발현이 감소하였고 염증성 사이토카인(IL-6, MCP-1, TNF-α 및 leptin)의 유전자 발현은 증가하였다. OVX에 비해 OVX/Ex는 지방조직에서의 IκBα이 증가하였고 염증성 사이토카인의 유전자 발현은 감소하였다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 난소절제 후 고지방식이로 비만이 유도된 비만 쥐에서 수영 운동은 지방조직에서 염증반응을 억제함으로써 비만의 예방과 치료에 효과적이다는 것을 제시하였다.

고지방식이를 섭취하는 흰쥐에서 가르시니아캄보지아 껍질추출물, 대두펩타이드 및 L-카르니틴 조성물 섭취와 규칙적인 트레드밀운동이 체중감량에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Treadmill Exercise Training and Dietary Intake of Garcinia Cambogia Extract, Soypeptide and L-Carnitine Mixture on Body Weight Reduction in Rats Fed High-Fat Diet)

  • This study was undertaken to examine effects of dietary intake of garcinia cambogia extract, soy peptide and L-carnitine mixture on body weight gain and obesity-related bio-markers in rats fed high-fat diet for 9 weeks with or without regular treadmill exercise. Forty 5-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups; sedentary control group (SC), exercised control group (EC), sedentary formula-fed group (SF), and exercised formula-fed group (EF). The SC and EC rats were fed high-fat control diet (fat comprises$40\%$ of total caloris), and SF and EF rats were fed high-fat formula (composed of garcinia cambogia, soy peptide and L-carnitine) supplemented diet. Statistical analyses by two-way ANOVA indicated that the regular treadmill exercise significantly lowered cumulative body weight gain, total visceral fat mass, and epididymal, perirenal and retroperitoneal fat pad weights, and serum concentrations of total cholesterol and LDL + VLDL cholesterol, insulin, c-peptide and leptin. Feeding the formula also resulted in significant reductions in cumulative body weight gain and visceral fat pad weights, along with other related parameters including serum total and LDL + VLDL cholesterol levels, and hepatic enzyme activities involved in fatty acid synthesis. Statistical analyses by one-way ANOVA revealed that the formula consumption significantly improved body weight gain ($18\%$ reduction), total visceral fat weight ($20\%$ reductions), and serum total ($43\%$ reduction) and LDL + VLDL cholesterol ($54\%$ reduction) levels, as well as serum levels of insulin ($49\%$ reduction), and c-peptide ($41\%$ reduction) in sedentary rats, but failed to exhibit significant reductions in these indices in animals under treadmill exercise program. Taken together, these results suggest that the treadmill exercise per n exhibited significant improvements in body fat reduction and other related bio-markers, and so the formula consumption did not achieve a further significant reductions in these bio-markers in exercised rats. Nevertheless, animals fed the formula with regular exercise showed the most efficient weight reduction compared to other groups either fed formula without exercise or received regular exercise without dietary supplementation.
