연속 유동 Ultraviolet-C 반응기(UVivatec)의 바이러스 불활화 효과 평가 (Evaluation of Viral Inactivation Efficacy of a Continuous Flow Ultraviolet-C Reactor (UVivatec))

  • 사람과 동물 유래의 혈장, 세포, 조직 등을 이용하여 생물의약품을 생산하기 위해서는 바이러스 안전성 확보가 필수적이다. 바이러스 안전성 보증을 위해 생물의약품 제조공정은 바이러스 불활화/제거 단계를 포함하여야 한다. 짧은 파장자외선(UVC) 조사는 바이러스 불활화 효과가 매우 높은 것으로 알려졌지만, UVC 조사로 인한 단백질의 변성과 대상 물질에 동일하게 조사를 할 수 있는 기계적 장치 개발의 어려움으로 인해 UVC 조사는 생물의약품 제조 공정에 사용되지 못했다. 최근에 이러한 결점을 해결한 연속 유동 UVC 반응기(UVivatec)가 개발되었다. UVivatec의 바이러스 불활화 효과 및 단백질 회수율을 검증하기 위해 단백질 의약품을 대상으로 적용가능성을 조사하였다. 최적화된 $3,000\;J/m^2$ 조사 공정에서 단백질의 회수율은 98%이상이었다. UVC 조사에 의한 human immunodeficiency virus(HIV), hepatitis A virus(HAV), bovine herpes virus(BHV), bovine viral diarrhea virus(BVDV), porcine parvovirus(PPV), bovine parvovirus(BPV), minute virus of mice(MVM), reovirus type 3(REO), bovine parainfluenza virus type 3(BPIV) 불활화 효과를 평가하였다. HAV, PPV, BPV, MVM, REO와 같은 비외피(nonenvelope) 바이러스는 $3,000\;J/m^2$ 조사량에 의해 검출한계 이하로 완벽하게 불활화되었다. HIV, BVDV, BPIV 같은 외피(envelope) 바이러스도 $3,000\;J/m^2$ 조사량에 의해 검출한계 이하로 완벽하게 불활화되었다. 또한 BHV도 매우 민감하게 불활화되었다. UVC 조사에 의한 각 바이러스들의 로그 감소율은 HIV는 ${\geq}3.89$, HAV는 ${\geq}5.27$, BHV는 5.29, BVDV는 ${\geq}5.96$, PPV는 ${\geq}4.37$, BPV는 ${\geq}3.55$, MVM은 ${\geq}3.51$, REO는 ${\geq}4.20$, BPIV는 ${\geq}4.15$이었다. 이와 같은 결과에서 UVivatec을 이용한 UVC 조사는 바이러스 불활화에 매우 효과적인 방법임을 확인하였다.

생쥐배의 핵치환에 관한 연구 III. 핵치환 생쥐의 생산 (Studies on Nuclear Transplantation in Mouse Embryos III. Production of Nuclear Transplanted Mice)

  • These experiments were carried out to develop the technique of nuclear transplantation necessary for elevating utilization efficiency of high quality embryos and the production of clone animals. Embryos of pronucleus stages were obtained from ICR mice. Removal of pronuclei and their transfer to recipient embryos were carried out by micromanipulation and virus mediation. The results obtained in these experiments were summarized as follows ; 1. Total 337 pairs of pronuclear stage embryos were subjected to nuclear transplantatin and 247 pairs(73.3%) of them were successfully transplanted and the number of fused embryos between transplanted nucleus and cytoplasm was 188 pairs(55.8%). 2. Of the 188 fused embryos cultured in vitro, 174(92.4%), 131(69.7%) and 117(62.2%) embryos were developed to 2-cell, morula and blastocyst stages, respectively. 3. When total 104 nuclear transplanted embryos were transferred to uteri of recipient mice on day 2-3 of pseudopregnancy, 4 of 12 recipient mice were pregnant and the number of embryos developed to young was 28(26.9%).

  • The SWTR(Surface Water Treatment Rule) requires achieving removal 99.9% Giardia and 99.99% Virus. To remove Giardia and Virus, disinfection process is essential process. CT is important index for Disinfection performance. CT value is expressed by CXT. C is represented by disinfection concentration and T is represented by $T_{10}$ which means 90% contact time in clearwell. To improve Disinfection performance, it is desirable to increase $T_{10}$. Primary factor affected $T_{10}$ is flow Pattern. Because guide wall change that flow pattern is uniform, we have installed guide wall to increase $T_{10}$. In this paper, we have performed numerical analysis for clearwell installed symmetric guide wall and center divided guide wall using CFD. We have analyzed flow pattern and $T_{10}$ in each clearwell. And. we compare symmetric guide wall with center divided guide wall in flow pattern and $T_{10}$.

침지형 MF 중공사막을 이용한 하수 2차 처리수의 재이용 연구 (Treatment of Secondary Municipal Wastewater by Submerged Hollow Fiber MF Membranes for Water Reuse)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the performance of submerged hollow fiber MF processes to treat secondary wastewater for water reuse. Specifically, membrane productivity and filtrate water quality were investigated under various operating conditions (i.e. flux, recovery, and backwash rate) at pilot-scale. Membrane fouling became more severe with increasing flux and recovery, suggesting that low flux operation (< 25 LMH) was desirable. At high flux operating(> 37.5 LMH), increasing backwash rate showed only limited success. The biofouling, quantified by PEPA and BFHPC, was also significant in wastewater reclamation, and biogrowth control by chlorine, were necessary to improve membrane productivity. Filtrate water qualities are in good compliance with water reuse regulations regardless of operating conditions (flux, recovery and backwash rate). Particle (e.g. turbidity) removal ranged from 89 to 98%, while only 11 to 21% of organics (e.g. NPDOC) were removed by MF membrane. Only small improvement in biostability (e.g. AOC) was achieved by MF system, and thus, without post disinfection, significant microorganisms might be present in the filtrate due to regrowth. Lastly, in order to further investigate pathogen removal, controlled microbial challenge tests were performed by monitoring Giardia, Cryptosporidium, bacteria and virus, and showed relatively good microbial removal.

복합식 공기청정기의 물리적 및 생물학적 입자상 물질의 제거 효과 (Efficiency of the Hybrid-type Air Purifier on Reducing Physical and Biological Aerosol)

  • There was no significant difference in the CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) between physical aerosols, NaCl and smoke, and biological aerosols, airborne MS2 virus and P. fluorescens, which implicate that the hybrid-type of air purifier, applying the unipolar ion emission and the radiant catalytic ionization, imposed identical reduction effect on both physical aerosol and bioaerosol. Ventilation decreases the efficiency of air cleaning by unipolar ionization because high ventilation diminishes the particle concentration reduction effect. The particle removal efficiency decreases with increase in the chamber volume because of the augmented ion diffusion and higher ion wall loss rate. Particle size affects the efficiency of air ionization. The efficiency is high for particles with very small diameter because reduction of charge increases with particle size. If there is no increasing supply of ions, the efficiency of air cleaning by unipolar ionization increases with respect to initial concentration of particles because of the large space charge effect at high particle concentration and amplified electric field.

수계 바이러스의 정수처리공정별 제거율 및 세포주별 감염특성 조사 (Removal Efficiency in Water Treatment Process and Characteristic of Cell Sensitivity of Waterborne Enteric Viruses)

  • 환경시료에서 많이 분리되는 장내바이러스 중 폴리오바이러스, 콕사키바이러스, 에코바이러스를 이용하여 정수처리 공정별 제거율을 조사하였다. 양성 시료로 사용된 바이러스들의 회수율은 72-108%의 범위로 나타났다. 이들 3종 바이러스들을 대상으로 정수처리공정별 제거효율을 조사한 결과 약 99%의 바이러스가 침전단계에서 제거되어졌고, 후오존과 BAC 여과과정을 거치면서 100% 제거되어짐을 확인할 수 있었다. 6개의 세포주를 사용하여 바이러스별 감수성을 조사한 결과 폴리오바이러스는 BGMK 세포주, 콕사키바이러스는 Vero 및 BGMK 세포주가 다른 세포주에 비해 높은 감수성을 나타내었고, 반면 에코바이러스는 RD 세포주에서 가장 분리가 용이하였다.

전남 지역의 토마토반점위조바이러스병 발생 양상 (Pattern of the Occurrence of Tomato spotted wilt virus in Jeonnam Province)

  • 전남 지역에서 토마토반점위조바이러스병은 나주, 순천, 영광, 신안 등 8개 시군에서 발생되었으며, 영광 지역이 가장 심하였다. 시설재배에서는 주로 고추, 피망, 토마토에 발생하였고, 노지재배에서는 고추의 피해가 컸다. 고추 육묘장에서 Tomato spotted wilt virus(TSWV) 발생을 조사한 결과, 나주, 순천, 장흥 지역에서 발병주율은 1.1-30%로 조사되었다. TSWV은 일반적으로 6월 상순에 초발하여 8월까지 지속적으로 발병이 증가하였으나, TSWV에 감염된 묘가 정식된 경우 정식 초기인 5월 상순부터 발생을 시작하였다. 시설재배지에서 꽃노랑총채벌레가 대만총채벌레보다 황색점착트랩에 높은 밀도로 채집되었고, 노지고추에서는 대만총채벌레가 꽃노랑총채벌레보다 우점하였다. 동절기 휴경기에 하우스 내와 측창 사이의 잡초를 완전히 제거한 경우에는 방치한 포장에 비해 바이러스 초발일이 1개월 정도 지연되는 경향을 보였고, 측창쪽에서 가까운 열이 바이러스 발생율이 높았고 측창에서 멀어질수록 발생율이 낮아졌다.

  • Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) is characterized by repeated recurrence in the respiratory system, such as the pharynx, larynx, and trachea, caused by the human papilloma virus. The main treatment is surgical removal of the papilloma. However repeated recurrence of RRP in multiple areas is burdened for the surgeon. In addition to the surgery, various adjuvant therapies have been studied to reduce the recurrence. Literature review was conducted with a focus on the adjuvant treatments for RRP.

Cation exchange membrane and anion exchange membrane aided electrolysis processes for hypochlorite generation

  • In this study, the influence of different IEMs (ion exchange membranes) to performance of the hypochlorite electrolysis unit with Cl2 recovery stream was investigated. More specifically, Nafion 117-a representative cation exchange membrane (CEM)-and aminated polypheylene oxide (APPO)-an anion exchange membrane (AEM)-were installed in the hypochlorite electrolysis unit, and the performance and the energy efficiency of the units were evaluated and compared. Regardless of whether CEM (Nafion 117) or AEM (APPO) was installed, the rate of hypochlorite generation was increased (by up to 24.3% and 22.2% for Nafion 117 and APPO, respectively) compared with the unit without an IEM. On the other hand, the power efficiency and the optimum operation condition of hypochlorite production units seem to depend on the conductivity and stability of the installed IEM. As the result, between Nafion 117 and APPO, higher performance and efficiency were achieved with Nafion 117, due to excellent conductivity and stability of the membrane.

코로나 바이러스 대유행에 따른 치과 의료 관리 가이드라인 (Guidelines for dental clinic infection prevention during COVID-19 pandemic)

  • Dental settings have unique characteristics that warrant specific infection control considerations, including (1) prioritizing the most critical dental services and provide care in a way that minimizes harm to patients due to delayed care, or harm to personnel from potential exposure to persons infected with the COVID-19 disease, and (2) proactively communicate to both personnel and patients the need for them to stay at home if sick. For health care, an interim infection prevention and control recommendation (COVID-19) is recommended for patients suspected of having coronavirus or those whose status has been confirmed. SARS-CoV-2, which is the virus that causes COVID-19, is thought to be spread primarily between people who are in close contact with one another (within 6 feet) through respiratory droplets that are produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. Airborne transmission from person-to-person over long distances is unlikely. However, COVID-19 is a new disease, and there remain uncertainties about its mode of spreads and the severity of illness it causes. The virus has been shown to persist in aerosols for several hours, and on some surfaces for days under laboratory conditions. COVID-19 may also be spread by people who are asymptomatic. The practice of dentistry involves the use of rotary dental and surgical instruments, such as handpieces or ultrasonic scalers, and air-water syringes. These instruments create a visible spray that can contain particle droplets of water, saliva, blood, microorganisms, and other debris. While KF 94 masks protect the mucous membranes of the mouth and nose from droplet spatter, they do not provide complete protection against the inhalation of airborne infectious agents. If the patient is afebrile (temperature <100.4°F)* and otherwise without symptoms consistent with COVID-19, then dental care may be provided using appropriate engineering and administrative controls, work practices, and infection control considerations. It is necessary to provide supplies for respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette, including alcohol-based hand rub (ABHR) with 60%~95% alcohol, tissues, and no-touch receptacles for disposal, at healthcare facility entrances, waiting rooms, and patient check-ins. There is also the need to install physical barriers (e.g., glass or plastic windows) in reception areas to limit close contact between triage personnel and potentially infectious patients. Ideally, dental treatment should be provided in individual rooms whenever possible, with a spacing of at least 6 feet between the patient chairs. Further, the use of easy-to-clean floor-to-ceiling barriers will enhance the effectiveness of portable HEPA air filtration systems. Before and after all patient contact, contact with potentially infectious material, and before putting on and after removing personal protective equipment, including gloves, hand hygiene after removal is particularly important to remove any pathogens that may have been transferred to the bare hands during the removal process. ABHR with 60~95% alcohol is to be used, or hands should be washed with soap and water for at least 20 s.
