Recently, VR HMD (virtual reality head mounted display) has been utilized for virtual training, entertainment, vision therapy, and optometry. In particular, virtual reality contents are increasingly used for vision therapy and optometry. Accordingly, high-quality virtual reality contents such as a natural vision of life is required. Therefore, it is necessary to study the content production according to the optical characteristics of the VR HMD. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a proper FOV (field of view) of contents according to the distortion rate. We produced virtual reality contents and obtained distorted images by virtual camera. The distortion rate is calculated by using the distorted image. It is proved that the optimal FOV of the VR content with the minimum distortion is $90{\sim}100^{\circ}$. The results of this study are expected to be applied to the production of high quality contents.
The purpose of this thesis is to examine ontology of digital photo image based on a Simulacre concept of Gilles Deleuze & Jean Baudrillard. Traditionally, analog image follows the logic of reproduction with a similarity with original target. Therefore, visual reality of analog image is illuminated, interpreted, and described in a subjective viewpoint, but does not deviate from the interpreted reality. However, digital image does not exist physically but exists as information that is made of mathematical data, a digital algorithm. This digital image is that newness of every reproduction, that is, essence of subject 'once existing there' does not exist anymore, and does not instruct or reproduce an outside target. Therefore, digital image does not have the similarity and does not keep the index instruction ability anymore. It means that this digital image is converted into a virtual area, and this is not reproduction of already existing but display of not existing yet. This not-being of digital image changes understanding of reality, existence, and imagination. Now, dividing it into reality and imagination itself is meaningless, and this does not make digital image with technical improvement but is a new image that is basically completely different from existing image. Eventually, digital image of the day passes step to visualize an existent target, nonexistent things have been visualized, and reality operates virtually. It means that digital image does not reproduce our reality but reproduces other reality realistically. In other words, it is a virtual reproduction producing an image that is not related to a target, that is to say Simulacre. In the virtually simulated world, reality has an infinite possibility, and it is not a picture of the past and present and has a possibility as the infinite virtual that is not fixed, is infinitely mutable, and is not actualized yet.
In this paper, we propose a system to walk around the world with virtual reality technology. Although the virtual reality users are interested in the virtual travel contents, the conventional virtual travel contents have limited space for experiencing and lack of interactivity. In order to solve the problem of lack of realism and limited space, which is a disadvantage of existing contents, this system created a virtual space using Google Street View image. Users can have realistic experience with real street images, and travel a vast area of the world provided by Google Street View image. Also, a virtual reality headset and a treadmill equipment are used so that the user can actually walk in the virtual space, which maxmizes user interactivity and immersion. We expect this system contributes to the leisure activities of virtual reality users by allowing natural walking trip from famous tourist spots to even mountain roads and alleys.

Panoramic Image provides wider field of view than image from acquisition equipment such as a camera and provides realism and immersion to users compared with single image. Cubic panoramic image provides three dimensional access zooming and rotating in top, bottom, left and right directions. But we require commercial softwares to make a panoramic image and can see distorted images in top and bottom direction. This paper presents a method that constructs cubic panoramic virtual reality image using Apple QuickTimeVR's cubic data structure without any commercial software to make realistic image of top and bottom direction in cubic panoramic virtual reality space.
Purpose: Gait and cognitive impairment in stroke patients exacerbate fall risk and mobility difficulties during multi-task walking. Virtual reality can provide interesting and challenging training in a community setting. This study evaluated the effect of community-based virtual reality gait training (VRGT) using a 360-degree image on the gait ability of chronic stroke patients. Methods: Forty-five chronic stroke patients who were admitted to a rehabilitation hospital participated in this study. Patients meeting the selection criteria were randomly divided into a VRGT group (n=23) and a control group (n=22). Both these groups received general rehabilitation. The VRGT group was evaluated using a 360-degree image that was recorded for 50 minutes a day, 5 days per week for a total of 6 weeks after their training. The control group received general treadmill training for the same amount of time as that of the VRGT group. The improvement in the spatiotemporal parameters of gait was evaluated using a gait analyzer system before and after training. Results: The spatiotemporal gait parameters showed significant improvements in both groups compare with the baseline measurements (p<0.05), and the VRGT group showed more improvement than the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Community-based VRGT has been shown to improve the walking ability of chronic stroke patients and is expected to be used in rehabilitation of stroke patients in the future.
Virtual Reality contents are being used as media in various fields. In order for the virtual reality contents to be realistic, the scale of the objects in the virtual reality must be the same as the actual size, and the user must feel the same size. However, even if the size of the character in the virtual reality space is made equal to the size in comparison with the size of the character in the reality, the distortion of the size can occur when the user looks at the object in the image with the HMD. In this paper, I investigate the requirements related to size in virtual reality, and try to find out what difference these requirements have in virtual reality and how the difference affects users. Experiments and surveys to compare the size of objects in virtual reality space and the size of objects in real space were conducted to investigate how scale distortion occurs at distant and near places. I hope that this paper will be a useful research for virtual reality developers.

Nowadays, one-person media broadcasting has become popular, and with the progress of this popularity, multimedia techniques which can support such broadcasting are also becoming more and more advanced. One of the most emerging multimedia technique used in this field is the virtual reality technology which sets the one-person media broadcasting environment as a virtual reality environment. However, as such an environment requires instruments of high cost, it is not easy for normal individuals to constitute such environments. Therefore, in this paper we propose how to construct virtual reality-like panoramas with a multiple of smartphones. For this purpose, we designed a special rig which can hold firmly 8 smartphone cameras which have overlapping view of the environment such that panorama stitching becomes possible. To reduce the computation cost, we precomputed the homography matrices, and used 1-D pointer structures to store the computed coordinate values.
Modem society is information oriented with countless people needing quick reliable information. They also wart to be freed from the limitations of reality such astime and space and experience the world of imagination as if it was reality. Design is creating something out of nothing which has an innate sense of virtual within it. Since it is a process of bringing an imagingnation or an image to life, it can be described as the realization of virtuality. there are many ways in which computer adapted methods were utilized for design up to now. With the advance of computers, the process of desinging became efficient, visually complex and much easier. Undoubtedly, computer is a powerful hardware an design and furthermore, find a way to maximize the presence and to actively incorporate this in designing. The virtual reality system can be widely applied to environmental design to provude a high quality design and enhance the feeling of reality through imitation experiments. Computer simulation such as virtual reality systems is expected to be used widely in environmental design.

This paper presents virtual reality using 6-DOF Haptic interface. It is proposed reappearance of force using 6-DOF Haptic device that was designed by previous studies and 3D image considered time delay. The performance of conventional control is excellent in the case of the exactly known dynamic model of the robot, but degrades seriously as the uncertainty of the model increases. The virtual reality using 6-DOF Haptic interface is presented here to overcome such that, and verified through the experiment.

This paper proposes a novel desktop virtual reality system. Based on the position of the user's face, the proposed system selects the most appropriate image of an object from a set of photographs taken at various angles, and simply "pastes" it onto the display at the appropriate location and scale. Using this system, the users can intuitively feel the presence of the object.
