In this paper, to improve the efficiency of welding and user convenience in the shipbuilding industry, a PC-based off-line programming (OLP) technique and the development of a robot transfer unit are presented. The developed OLP system is capable of not only robot motion simulations but also automatic generations of a series of robot programs. The strength of the developed OLP system lies in its flexibility in handling the changes of the welding robot's target objects. Moreover, for a precise transfer of the robot to a desired location, an auxiliary mobile platform named a robot-origin-transfer-unit (ROTU) was developed. To enhance the cornering capability of the platform in a narrow area, the developed ROTU is equipped with 2 steering wheels and 1 driving wheel. Both the OLP and the ROTU were field-tested and their performances were proven successful.

XML is suitable to integrate various forms of engineering design data since it possesses the characteristics of both documents and data. In this research a web-based design system has been developed, which integrates various gear design data in the form of XML. The system generates XML document containing gear design data and transforms gear design data in the relational database into XML document form automatically. The XML documents are transmitted to gear modeler agent through SOAP, and then the agent is automatically executed and generates CAD model files and VRML files. The designer can check the generated VRML model of gear immediately in the web service.

가상현실에서 에이전트에게 많은 영향을 주지 않는 객체의 움직임은 일정한 패턴을 가지고 동작하거나 시각적인 것에 중점을 두고 모델링을 한다. 가상현실에서 불을 현실세계와 유사하게 구현하기 위해서는 가상현실 내에 존재하는 환경과 상호작용을 하며 일정한 패턴을 가지지 않는 다양한 이벤트들이 전개되어야 한다. 그러기 위해서 인과관계에 의한 이벤트 전개 방식을 사용한다. 인과관계에 의한 이벤트전개를 위해서 이벤트를 전제조건, 절차, 결과로 나누어 설계하고 이벤트의 결과와 다른 이벤트 사이에 인관관계를 정의한다. 본 논문에서는 가상현실 내에서 burn에 의한 발생하는 이벤트가 현실세계에서 burn과 유사하게 모델링하기 위한 방법을 제시한다.

컴퓨터 네트워크는 컴퓨터와 컴퓨터를 이어주는 단순 기능에서 벗어나 "네트워크가 곧 컴퓨터이다"라는 명제가 등장할 만큼 정보 기술 발전의 핵심으로 부각되고 있다. 따라서, 새로운 정보 통신망이나 컴퓨터의 연구 개발은 네트워크 기능의 고속화, 고성능화, 지능화에 중점을 두고 있다. 과거의 컴퓨터 통신은 단순한 터미널과 과학 계산용 서버를 연결하고 데이터 전송을 하는 목적에 국한되었으나 현재는 취급하는 정보가 다양해지고 수많은 사용자들이 개인용 컴퓨터를 갖게 되고 정보 통신망이 대규모로 확산됨에 따라 멀티미디어 데이터의 전송, 교환, 생성, 가공, 축적, 변환, 수집으로 기능이 확대되었다. 또한, 컴퓨터 그래픽 기술이 발달하므로서 네트워크를 통한 그래픽 전송 특히 3D그래픽 전송을 통한 서비스에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 이에따라 개발된 VRML(Virtual Reality Modeling Language)에 대한 소개와 이를 이용한 관광 가이드 서비스개발에 대한 과정 및 3D모델링, 응용 분야에 대하여 알아 보고 가상현실 기반 가이드 서비스에 대한 기초 연구를 통해 발생된 문제점과 도출해 낼수 있는 결과 및 앞으로의 개선 방향에 대하여 알아보기로 한다. 알아보기로 한다.

Most measuring devices are equipped with RS-232 or GPIB interface for communicating data with computers. If the measuring devices can be accessed by a server computer, the valuable information from the devices can be effectively shared with other computers via internet. But, if the measuring devices and the server computer are too far away, it is difficulty to directly connect them by RS232 interface. PSTN(Public Switched Telephone Network) refers to the world's collection of interconnected voice-oriented public telephone networks. Measuring computer system which is equipped with RS232 interface and modem for PSTN can be introduced to overcome the aforementioned distance problem, In this work, an internet based remote monitoring system which utilizes PSTN and VRML for 3-dimensional GUI is proposed.

We describe a method for localizing a mobile robot in its working environment using a vision system and Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML). The robot identifies landmarks in the environment, using image processing and neural network pattern matching techniques, and then its performs self-positioning with a vision system based on a well-known localization algorithm. After the self-positioning procedure, the 2-D scene of the vision is overlaid with the VRML scene. This paper describes how to realize the self-positioning, and shows the overlap between the 2-D and VRML scenes. The method successfully defines a robot's path.

인터넷 기술의 눈부신 발전으로 더 이상 VRML이 브라우저 상에서 3차원 오브젝트만을 보여 주는 시기는 지났다. 온라인 가상 환경에서 3차원 캐릭터를 통해서 가상의 공간에서 현실로 넘나들고자 하는 욕구 역시 증대되고 있다. 다시 말해서, 사용자들은 3차원 웹 상에서 자신의 움직임과 같은 Humanoid를 만들어 현실감을 느끼고 싶어한다. 본 논문에서는 웹 브라우저로 쉽게 접근 할 수 있는, VRML(Virtual Reality Modeling Language)구조를 통해 Humanoid를 생성한다. 그리고 컴퓨터가 만들어낸 가상에서 인간의 움직임에 대한 체험을 하도록 하는 Humanoid를 생성하여 사용자와 상호 작용할 수 있는 방법을 제안하고 이를 구현하였다.

As the simple empirical and phenomenological model applied to the analysis of leakage and explosion of chemical substances does not regard numerous variables, such as positional density of installations and equipment, turbulence, atmospheric conditions, obstacles, and wind effects, there is a significant gap between actual accident consequence and computation. Therefore, the risk management of a chemical plant based on such a computation surely has low reliability. Since a process plant is required to have outcomes more similar to the actual outcomes to secure highly reliable safety, this study was designed to apply the CFD (computational fluid dynamics) simulation technique to analyze a virtual prediction under numerous variables of leakages and explosions very similarly to reality, in order to review the computation technique of the practical safety distance at a process plant.

최근에 많이 소개되는 인터넷을 이용한 교육, 학습의 대부분은 텍스트를 기반으로 하고 이미지를 삽입하는 방식을 이용하여 이루어지고 있다. 이런 방식은 인문, 사회분야의 과목에는 충분한 효과를 기대할 수 있지만 화학, 물리 등의 자연과학 과목에는 충분한 효과를 기대하기 어렵다. 이제는 통신의 발달로 인해 네트워크 사용이 생활화됨으로써 더 이상 VRML(Virtual Reality Modeling Language)이 넷스케이프 네비게이터나 마이크로소프트 인터넷 익스플로러 같은 인터넷 브라우저상에서 3차원 오브젝트만을 보여주는 시기는 지났다. 가상 세계여행 시스템은 최근 급속도로 확장되고 있는 인터넷과 인터넷 응용기술인 VRML, XML(extensible Makeup Language)을 이용하여 아직까지 사진이나 영상으로만 볼 수 있었던 세계의 도시, 건축물에 대한 정보를 3차원으로 구성된 세계여행을 통해 현실감 있는 정보를 제공하기 위해 설계되었다. 시스템의 특징은 세계의 대도시 및 유명 건축물을 VRML과 XML을 이용하여 가상으로 구성하고, 사용자는 프로그램 내에서 자신이 선택한 아바타를 조종하여 그 도시들을 여행함으로써 가상 공간 내에서 세계여행을 할 수 있다는 것이다. 또한 사용자는 여행중인 다른 아바타와의 채팅이 가능하고 도우미 아바타에게 궁금한 점을 질문할 수도 있다.
