온라인 네트워킹 활동이 가상협업 역량 및 업무성과에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Online Social Networking on Individual Virtual Competence and Task Performance in Organizations)

  • With the advent of communication technologies including electronic collaborative tools and conferencing systems provided over the Internet, virtual collaboration is becoming increasingly common in organizations. Virtual collaboration refers to an environment in which the people working together are interdependent in their tasks, share responsibility for outcomes, are geographically dispersed, and rely on mediated rather than face-to face, communication to produce an outcome. Research suggests that new sets of individual skill, knowledge, and ability (SKAs) are required to perform effectively in today's virtualized workplace, which is labeled as individual virtual competence. It is also argued that use of online social networking sites may influence not only individuals' daily lives but also their capability to manage their work-related relationships in organizations, which in turn leads to better performance. The existing research regarding (1) the relationship between virtual competence and task performance and (2) the relationship between online networking and task performance has been conducted based on different theoretical perspectives so that little is known about how online social networking and virtual competence interplay to predict individuals' task performance. To fill this gap, this study raises the following research questions: (1) What is the individual virtual competence required for better adjustment to the virtual collaboration environment? (2) How does online networking via diverse social network service sites influence individuals' task performance in organizations? (3) How do the joint effects of individual virtual competence and online networking influence task performance? To address these research questions, we first draw on the prior literature and derive four dimensions of individual virtual competence that are related with an individual's self-concept, knowledge and ability. Computer self-efficacy is defined as the extent to which an individual beliefs in his or her ability to use computer technology broadly. Remotework self-efficacy is defined as the extent to which an individual beliefs in his or her ability to work and perform joint tasks with others in virtual settings. Virtual media skill is defined as the degree of confidence of individuals to function in their work role without face-to-face interactions. Virtual social skill is an individual's skill level in using technologies to communicate in virtual settings to their full potential. It should be noted that the concept of virtual social skill is different from the self-efficacy and captures an individual's cognition-based ability to build social relationships with others in virtual settings. Next, we discuss how online networking influences both individual virtual competence and task performance based on the social network theory and the social learning theory. We argue that online networking may enhance individuals' capability in expanding their social networks with low costs. We also argue that online networking may enable individuals to learn the necessary skills regarding how they use technological functions, communicate with others, and share information and make social relations using the technical functions provided by electronic media, consequently increasing individual virtual competence. To examine the relationships among online networking, virtual competence, and task performance, we developed research models (the mediation, interaction, and additive models, respectively) by integrating the social network theory and the social learning theory. Using data from 112 employees of a virtualized company, we tested the proposed research models. The results of analysis partly support the mediation model in that online social networking positively influences individuals' computer self-efficacy, virtual social skill, and virtual media skill, which are key predictors of individuals' task performance. Furthermore, the results of the analysis partly support the interaction model in that the level of remotework self-efficacy moderates the relationship between online social networking and task performance. The results paint a picture of people adjusting to virtual collaboration that constrains and enables their task performance. This study contributes to research and practice. First, we suggest a shift of research focus to the individual level when examining virtual phenomena and theorize that online social networking can enhance individual virtual competence in some aspects. Second, we replicate and advance the prior competence literature by linking each component of virtual competence and objective task performance. The results of this study provide useful insights into how human resource responsibilities assess employees' weakness and strength when they organize virtualized groups or projects. Furthermore, it provides managers with insights into the kinds of development or training programs that they can engage in with their employees to advance their ability to undertake virtual work.

  • Virtual project organization may be recognized as one of the promising business models in which many knowledge sources externalize through cross boundaries of knowledge-based organizations. This paper proposes a knowledge competence evaluation of virtual project organization based on the following perspectives: 1) Individual knowledge perspective, 2) Activity-oriented knowledge perspective, and 3) Knowledge-driven social network perspective. In the framework, individual knowledge competence having experienced or learned from knowledge-based activities and virtual networks in the project, should be evaluated according to the assumption that knowledge and collaboration competence depends on the activities and networks acquired proportionally by the past participation to projects. An illustrative SI example is given in order to validate the proposed evaluation and computing procedure.

  • With the paradigm shifting from the principal of manufacturing efficiency to business globalization and rapid adaptation to its environments, more and more enterprises are being virtually organized as manufacturing network of different units in web. The formation of these enterprise called as Virtual Enterprise(VE) is becoming a growing trend as enterprises concentrating on core competence and economic benefit. This paper proposes the cooperation methodology for VEs which can be organized by the selection of manufacturing partners, and managed by the information flow infrastructure.

코로나19 팬데믹 상황에서 간호대학생의 아동간호학 임상실습유형별 만족도, 학습만족도와 임상수행능력 (Nursing students' satisfaction and clinical competence by type of pediatric nursing practicum during the COVID-19 pandemic)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate student nurses' satisfaction by type of clinical practicum and to determine predictors of clinical competence in pediatric nursing. Methods: A total of 189 Junior and Senior student nurses across seven colleges in the Busan Metropolitan City were enrolled in the study. The participants completed a structured questionnaire containing items about their learning satisfaction with different types of pediatric nursing practicums and their clinical competence. Data were analyzed using the mean, standard deviation, independent t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. Results: Regarding satisfaction with each type of clinical practicum, the mean satisfaction score (out of 10) was 8.18±2.26 for on-site clinical rotations and 7.35±2.20 for alternative practicums. Among the different types of alternative practicum approaches, those with a satisfaction score of 7 or higher included fundamental nursing skills, watching videos, simulation etc., while those with a satisfaction score of less than 6 were virtual simulation and problem-based learning. The predictors of clinical competence in pediatric nursing were learning satisfaction with practice, school year, and alternative practicum, accounting for 35.0% of the variance in clinical competency. Conclusion: It would be helpful to combine on-site clinical rotations with alternative practicum approaches and to develop various alternative practice programs using simulation practice, virtual reality, immersive interactive systems, and standardized patients to enhance students' clinical competency.

  • This narrative review explores the transformative potential of immersive virtual reality (IVR) in enhancing high school students' mathematics competence, viewed through the lens of the technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge (TPACK) framework. This review comprehensively illustrates how IVR technologies have not only fostered a deeper understanding and engagement with mathematical concepts but have also enhanced the practical application of these skills. Through the careful examination of seminal papers, this study carefully explores the integration of IVR in high school mathematics education. It highlights significant contributions of IVR in improving students' computational proficiency, problem-solving skills, and spatial visualization abilities. These enhancements are crucial for developing a robust mathematical understanding and aptitude, positioning students for success in an increasingly technology-driven educational landscape. This review emphasizes the pivotal role of teachers in facilitating IVR-based learning experiences. It points to the necessity for comprehensive teacher training and professional development to fully harness the educational potential of IVR technologies. Equipping educators with the right tools and knowledge is essential for maximizing the effectiveness of this innovative teaching approach. The findings also indicate that while IVR holds promising prospects for enriching mathematics education, more research is needed to elaborate on instructional integration approaches that effectively overcome existing barriers. This includes technological limitations, access issues, and the need for curriculum adjustments to accommodate new teaching methods. In conclusion, this review calls for continued exploration into the effective use of IVR in educational settings, aiming to inform future practices and contribute to the evolving landscape of educational technology. The potential of IVR to transform educational experiences offers a compelling avenue for research and application in the field of mathematics education.

몰입형 가상현실 기반 모의학습 프로그램이 지적장애학생의 의사소통 능력과 학습태도에 미치는 효과: 편의점을 중심으로 (The Effects of Immersive Virtual Reality-Based Simulation Learning Program on the Communication Competence and Learning Attitude of Students with Intellectual Disabilities: Focusing on a Convenience Store Situation)

  • 본 논문은 지적장애학생을 대상으로 몰입형 가상현실 기반 모의학습 프로그램이 편의점 이용에 필요한 의사 소통 능력과 학습태도에 미치는 효과를 파악하는데 목적이 있었다. 이를 위해, 지적장애 고등학생 23명을 연구 대상으로 선정하여, 실험집단에 11명과 통제집단에 12명을 배치하였다. 실험집단에는 HMD 기반의 몰입형 가상현실 기법을 활용한 편의점 모의학습 프로그램을 적용하였고, 통제집단에는 전통적인 중재 프로그램을 적용하였다. 프로그램은 해당 학교의 여름방학 동안 주 5회씩 4주간 실시되었으며, 1회 중재 시간은 40분이었다. 프로그램의 효과를 파악하기 위하여 사전-사후 평가를 실시하였고, 독립표본 t검증을 통해 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 실험집단이 통제집단 보다 의사소통 능력이 향상되었고, 학습태도 또한 더 긍정적으로 나타났다. 이는 지적장애학생의 언어 및 의사소통 교육에 있어 몰입형 가상현실을 활용한 모의학습이 유용한 교수-학습 방법으로 활용될 수 있음을 시사한다.

Special Education Teachers' Competence, Self-Efficacy, and Autonomy in Using ICT amid the Covid19 Pandemic

  • The outbreak of Covid-19 has forced teachers of special education in Saudi Arabia to keep to themselves to live in a technology-infused society throughout the virtual teaching and learning process. This study set out to explore the competence, self-efficacy, and autonomy in using information communication technology (ICT) of special education teachers in Saudi Arabia. A total of 244 special education teachers in Saudi Arabia participated in this study. This study adopted the New General Self-Efficacy Scale developed and validated by Chen, Gully, and Eden (2001), as well as the Basic Psychological Needs in Exercise Scale (BPNES) developed and validated by Vlachopoulos and Michailidou (2006). Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) were used as the main data analysis in this study. The findings showed that special education teachers in Saudi Arabia possessed competence, self-efficacy, and autonomy in using ICT in their teaching and learning process. All the factor loadings in each factor were.75 or higher, indicating good factor loadings. The results of the MANOVA indicated that special education teachers in Saudi Arabia do not report different perceptions of their competence, self-efficacy, and autonomy despite their different gender, age group, academic background, and teaching experiences.

  • With the digitalization of production and consumption environments, consumers are no longer merely targets of marketing, but key players in creating value jointly with companies by participating in various decision-making processes. Much virtual content in particular, such as fashion shows, exhibitions, games, social activities, and shopping, which fashion brands implement in virtual worlds, cannot be completed without consumers' active engagement and interaction. Thus, this study considers consumers' participation in virtual content provided by fashion brands as value co-creation in virtual worlds. This study aims to examine how consumer (i.e., consumer smartness) and fashion firm (i.e., perceived intellectual capital) factors influence value co-creation behavior intention in virtual worlds. Data were collected from 410 consumers in their 20s nationwide through an online survey, and a higher-order structural equation modeling analysis was conducted to test the research model. The results showed that both consumer smartness and perceived intellectual capital positively influenced customer participation behavior and citizenship behavior intentions. Specifically, perceived intellectual capital had a greater impact on value co-creation behavior in the virtual world than consumer smartness. The findings provide empirical evidence that the fashion firms' intangible assets and consumers' competence in the digital shopping environment encourage their intentions to co-create value in virtual worlds.

  • 코비드-19는 사무실 등 특정 공간 내에 사람들의 모임을 최소화할 것을 요구하고 있다. 조직들은 네트워크를 지원하는 온라인 플랫폼 기술을 활용하여, 조직원 간의 정보공유 활동을 장려하고 있다. 최근, 메타버스 플랫폼이 보유한 공간, 경험 등의 실재감 요소가 교환 행동에 도움이 될 수 있다는 관점이 제시되면서, 조직들은 메타버스를 활용한 업무 지원 수준을 높이고 있다. 본 연구는 메타버스 실재감이 조직원의 내적 동기 형성을 통해 지식공유 의도에 미치는 영향과 개인의 디지털 기술 역량의 차이에 의해 지식공유 의도 차이가 존재할 수 있음을 확인하고자 한다. 연구는 가상 현실 등 선행연구를 통해 연구가설을 제시하였으며, 서베이를 통해 확보한 309개 표본을 활용하여 가설 검증을 하였다. 결과는 메타버스의 사회적, 원격, 자기 실재감이 조직 관련 내적 동기(조직 동일시, 가치 일치)를 높여 지식공유 의도에 긍정적 영향을 주었다. 또한, 디지털 기술 역량이 가치 일치와 지식공유 의도 간의 관계를 조절하였다. 본 연구는 메타버스를 활용하여 업무 생산성을 높이고자 하는 조직에 있어 메타버스 실재감 강화의 중요성과 개인의 디지털 역량 강화 지원의 필요성을 제언한다.
